- In this episode we take a look at a debug mode for SNES Doom that has some elements from the Japanese version of the game. And for the first time in 25 years XBAND Multiplayer for this game has been restored and it's playable today!
Special Thanks to Randy Linden and play134 for all the help!

It really is a miracle. :)
Hackers in Movies: Breaking Security Systems, accessing the Deep Web and stealing Millions of Dollars in Bitcoins.
Hackers in real life: I made the online mode of an old 90s game work again, because this game marked my childhood.
So true
@@Cacodemontube Hey, you dropped this 👑
Radical stuff, I figured the multiplayer was lost forever with XBand shutting its doors.
Custom servers by the unofficial fan community worldwide have recently brought it back alive. Newer videos on people playing with XBand are even out there, you can search it.

If this is true i would definitely buy an xband and i want to make sure it will work with pal doom and on current modems,in such case i can re’experience the 90’s like never before and find out what i,ve missed out back then🤣
beautiful video my friend! I loved spending the last few months assembling this great puzzler. thanks for the video!
Thanks Wallace! The things you did for SNES Doom deserve to be seen by all Doom fans
xband running in 2022?! Nicely done!
That IDDT find with the enemy AI is so strange and interesting.. and so cool to see Mutliplayer SNES Doom working again!
A really interesting experiment to do with this would be to convert the Jaguar simplified maps and see how they run compared to the PC conversions
AMAZING.... I know im late to the party but man this is great. Isn't Doom SNES the first console fps with online multiplayer???
Very cool. Remarkable technical achievement.
Thank you! It really is historic.
Awesome!!!
well this was NOT something i expected to see for a *long* time
holy shi tthis is awesome
I know right. This restoration is a dream come true for me too!
the fact people were able to restore the multiplayer in a game with like 2 videos of it remaining is fucking incredible
Randy Linden helped us a lot and we’re thankful for that. Personally it fulfills a childhood desire of mine to get to experience this finally getting restored some day. Back when there were only those two VHS recordings from back in the day…
@@Cacodemontube Randy is such an awesome dude and I love the fact that he still communicates with the community so much
@@pdiddlyd I think it’s also because he’s so glad to see that people are still interested in a port from 1995 even though there are so many modern ports that people play more nowadays.
As always, you deliver!
Thank you very much. I try my best. :)
@@Cacodemontube While we're at it, could you help DoomWiki(*)org give some more summary about the code lines and/or whatever discoveries have been made regarding the SNES port's source code? I might help you if you have any difficulties.
@@TheFieryWind99 Could you elaborate more on what exactly you want? And what page needs to be edited? The “Reality Engine” page?
@@Cacodemontube That one should suffice for this time. Other changes perhaps can wait.
@@TheFieryWind99 Okay I’ll look into it
bro can i have the song at the start of video please it sounds so great
What does this adapter do with the Snes Doom cartridge?
Wow
👏
Historical indeed
Never thought this could have been restored a few years back. But the impossible has been done.
Could the graphics be improved?
Very interesting video, I don't know about Japanese version.
Thank you! The Japanese version is the most obscure of the bunch. It allows you to select any episode on any difficulty, enemies are marked on the automap and it has simplified ending texts.
What’s that song in the background at the beginning? It fills me with so much joy and nostalgia but I cannot remember where I heard it. I mean probably from a wad but anyone know?
I'm wondering the same thing lol, it's really catchy
@@mario-mx9dm “Neatsong.kdm” -Ken Silverman lol I went asking for help on doomworld to figure it out
My only guess about "E1M1C" and "E1M2A" is that maybe Randy originally wanted to use absolutely unedited versions of PC maps, but the game probably crashed(because lines with mid-textures was still presented), when maybe he wanted to just use simplified maps from Jaguar port, but then maybe he found that PC maps work almost fine by just removing lines with mid-textures, this probably needs some clarifications
It could be the case but I’d have to ask him personally to make sure I think…
SIck!!!!!!
