wheelchair builders need to realise we dont just sit in our houses on wood shiny floors we live as hard as anyone else
Exactly. It's like they never expect us to leave floors or concrete. I need to cut grass, trim brush, work in my shop, move heavy or large things around my property. The only ones that hold up are chairs I build myself.
leaf blower is very helpful to blow chairs off
Yes totally
Hey Dan it’s Will. Awesome video keep up the great work as always
Great video!
Yarn instead of them ties is not only way softer but you can use thee color of choice.
Dan the reason those brass rollers counter rotate is because the outer on is sitting on the bottom of the roller and running along the runner BELOW it but the inner one is running along the runner ABOVE it. Have a look when you move them again and it will make sense why they go in opposite directions.
yea - that's exactly what i said in the video -
but the interesting part is the other/previous versions of this - they simply had a single slot, and one roller. didnt make sense to me that a single roller in a slot was supposed to do anything properly! LOL its nice to see one now thats been properly designed :^)
To deal with the scratches and nicks to the black paint on my Permobil chair caster arms, I have found the small bottle of Testors hobby paint in gloss black does an excellent job. I detail my chairs every time I replace the tires. I clean off any paint transfer and dirt with rubbing alcohol. Then I dip the tip of a Q-tip into a small amount of paint, and dab it onto the scratch. Do not brush it on. I do a few thin coats of paint.
🙂
🤩🥰🤩
The c500 needed rear fork stem bearings. Aftermarket bearings work fine, but the permobil recommended lube was a number. A friendly PWC tech told me that special lube - brake grease @ autozone for $2. the quickie qm710 uses bolts and nylon bushings at hinge points on the front articulating (Spider Trac) arms - recommended lube is bicycle chain lubricant w silicone. Thought provoking maintenance per your F3 - thanks
depends on the model, and year of chair, some of them need to be assembled dry - they've gone thru a few revisions of the flutter clutches over the years - however the bearings used should be of the 'rs' variety, which are pre-lubricated and sealed. BUT some models do require a bit of grease. unfortunately the service manuals weren't updated for all the different versions :^/
@@TotallyNormal- it was unsettling, after a year of use passed, to have received a 2014 wo suspension. broken neck in 1980 age twenty-five. In 1996 due to post-injury incident in quickies 424 pwc (broken back per emi/ pwc crash - 3 cracked vertebrae). pain became an issue in the following years and the f5 made its debut the following year (2015) with suspension and w complaints of rear flutter. c500 has the o-ring w/ o-ring plate, sealed bearings - caliper grease - blue, applied to o-ring only per directions. happy to have the last c500 @ 2,900 miles - such higher quality than Quickie qm710 @ 1,766 mi. it's a real pleasure to watch your videos and learn from your experiences - thanks!
I live by a beach so yes it was good seeing you down on it. I was debating with husband if taking my scooter down the beach was possible. I hadn't thought about how much it cleaning it would require afterwards. Especially as I like to go several times. May be getting a power chair soon . Do you find you have to clean each time. More questions than answers.
yes - ya wanna get all the salt spray and such off of the chair as soon as possible afterwards!
I haven't had that plastic cover at the front on my M3 since about a week after I got the chair. It came off and I left it off.
The contra rotation bearings for the seat lift are possibly sealed roller bearings?
What about using Velcro straps instead of of cable ties?
Just found your channel today! Hello baby brother! I have a Quantum i-Level that American Mobility billed Medicare for to replace my Jazzy 600es that had reached the five-year point and need a motor and a spring. I loathe the Quantum, it's made of parts although the company billed Medicare as though new. The joystick is analog, not the screen that is featured with the i-Level Soretto. The I i-Level has a footrest that elevates. This one is disabled. The back cannot be adjusted. The chair must be tilted or the caster wheels cannot clear the footrest. Boneyard Parts! There's more. Is there anything I can do? I'm AKA, btw, lol.
Is the silicone spray serving as a lubricant? cleaner? or both?
Awesome😁 Canon Beach is my hometown and I was wondering if I should take my new M5 or risk my old low rider for the trip from Sweden to visit. I’ll take my new chair. I speculated I could drive my chairs to Haystack rock but which beach access did you take?
Really appreciate your channel ❤️
hey! if you go to tolovana state park, and take the ramp down to the beach, there's a small creek by the end of the concrete path that keeps the sand around it wet all the way down to the ocean! the transition is a bit tricky, but i made it several times. with your F5, since it has substantially more torque, you'll wanna turn the speeds WAY down.. starting from a stop will dig the tires in super quick! if i frequented the beach more often, id create a profile on my chair just for sand driving.
@@TotallyNormal- Thanks Dan💞 I know exactly where you mean! I grew up in Tolovana Park😁 I’ll be staying on Brailier road so this will be perfect. I’ll use my tortoise setting🤣😂🤣
You didn't get the underside of the frame that got the most spray as its closest to the wet sand....
if i filmed EVERYTHING, the video would have been 4 hours long :^)
Good morning Dan.
I am extremely discouraged and disappointed tight now. I have been trying to get approval for an Permobil M3 wheelchair. My insurance company keeps denying coverage. Would you possibly know how I can get this chair approved. It's going on 6 months now. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
.
it all comes down to the diagnosis codes they submit, and the ATP that writes the letter of medical necessity.. takes a few rounds to get approved sometimes :^/
@ 1:29 what's the name of those wheels?

$40,000 dollars and they are using cheap plastics. I am glad their profit is more important than quality products.
