Just a head ups peoples, at 9:28 I refer to the character “Squints” as “Squirts”, something that I’m noticing is pissing a few people off. It was just a slip of the tongue hence the other parts of the video I call him “Squints”. It was an accident, I know saying “I’m not perfect” is something of a cliché but… yea unfortunately I’m not perfect, sometimes when I make a video I have all these names buzzing around my head at full speed in order for me to try and get it right but yes sometimes I’ll get a name or pronunciation wrong, and sometimes while editing these mistakes slip through the cracks. Anyway I hope everyone is happy and well, Stay Fresh. The best is yet to come
Accidents happen, I thought it was more funny then anything. Minty it was another great video on a classic movie so many of us loved growing up, Keep um coming. Always fun to watch.
I thought it would have been an even funnier nick name for the kid 😁
That mistake is going to be with you....FOR-EV-ER!!! ;)
Well maybe it was Squirts when he was locking lips with Wendy Peffercorn lol....I'll go away now.
Mistakes happen... you also called Marley Shelton 'Mary' earlier on, but honestly we know who you mean..

@@dollaheadaye3117 That makes two of us lol
I have a t-shirt with this quote on it. I always get compliments on it because everyone wants to have one. I've only ever seen one though and I own it.
"you're killin' me, Smalls". Ever since I saw this as a kid, I've always made this reference, and still do to this day. People always know what I mean.
I was in prison for 3 years and all I heard was this reference all the time when people owed people money or lost in a poker game. Funny stuff that when I asked them what's it from, they didnt know that it was a movie catch phrase lol
I saw it on a T-shirt last week and gave the wearer a chuckle/point/nod. He said his wife works at a thrift store and brings him home some real gems.
It's a timeless meme
So do me and alot of my friends! Never gets old! 👍😂

Love this movie. Watched it when I was 13 in 93, showed it to my son who's 9 now! TIMELESS
Better get some TIM, then.
You failed to mention the fact that the step dad WASN'T a prick.
It's an important point.
Will Lastnameguy he wasn’t a total prick, he gave the kid a glove and had a catch with him. Suited the time as well. Denis Leary for the win
@@1978mcduff He was a great stepdad, but Benny gave Smalls the hat and glove. All smalls had was a plastic toy mitt that his grandmother gave him when he was 6.
Oh yes and shout out to Karen Allen and Dennis Leary for being super cool parents in this lol
And he got a murderers row ball as compensation.
But was a self admitted asshole

@@Thornbloom Oh, no doubt. After all, Bambi's dad was king of the forest. You don't get a title like that, in the animal kingdom, without knocking some heads. Plus, I know what a deer can do to a pick-up truck. lol.
"You're killing me smalls" Is everyone's favorite line. I still say it to this day.
I live in Utah, and a lot of this was also filmed in a city called Midvale, particularly for the downtown shots. I had some friends whose fathers worked on sets for the movie, and I used to live in Midvale and recognize the streets used. Also, temperatures over 100 are common in Utah over the summer. It wasn't a heat wave, it was just typical summer weather that we get every year. We've already had several 100-degree days this spring, even.
Tom Guiry (Smalls) was a local kid. He went to my church and his older brother went to my high school. I even interviewed Tom for a school project
25 years later, I still enjoy this movie 🎥 never gets old
I saw it 2 weeks ago on Starz.
Great movie.
It's been way too long since I've seen it.
I think the ending with them as adults makes it still approachable.
27 years later
Yuo watched it a few times with my kids
One of the greatest movies ever made!
This movie inspired many a summer day of playing ball with the neighborhood kids. Definitely a classic for anyone who grew up around the time of its release.
I was a kid in the 60s and have a large plot that we kids would play baseball almost everyday sometimes 2x a day. This movie brought back a lot of happy memories.
One of my favorite movies growing up.. the early 90's had some great baseball movies, like the sandlot, rookie of the year & little big league, all of these movies bring back so many memories of my childhood..
He had kissed a woman, and he had kissed her long and good"lol. Squints couldn't take it no more 🤓Wendy Peffercorn drove him crazy!!! 😍😍😍
Oh god bro what a lucky dog that kid im not gonna lie lol
Dude went to town when they got older lol
They ended up getting Married.
@@dreamsofsnow6521 who got married?
@ Ben Conway At the endof the movie, in the voiceover, the narrator is revealing what happened to all the boys, he states that Squints Palledorous grew up to marry Wendy Peffercorn, have a bunch of kids, and own the local drugstore.😀
*Heroes get remembered......but legends never die!...........and this film is legendary*
Thank you for doing this movie. Such a classic and fun memories of childhood
Such a good childhood memory this movie is to me and I bet millions of others. It's just a classic
I grew up two blocks away from where they filmed the swimming pool scene. The swimming pool is Lorin Farr swimming pool
I grew up a few blocks away from the pool, if you look carefully at the beginning of the pool scene you can see the rampage which was a 3 story hydraulically controlled slide that has since been demolished. Many of the old cars that you see in the film were the property of my friends dad who at the time ran a motel and classic car museum. I now live and work relatively close to where Vincents drugstore was, it is now an abandoned empty shell (sad) and my family raised and bred English Mastiffs at the time, sadly none were in the film.
The heat wave helped the realism. San Fernando Valley gets crazy hot during the summer.
Another great movie! Loved this movie as a kid. Still love it.
Minty. It's time for UHF my friend. You have been avoiding me long enough. UHF deserves your attention! Love ya Minty!

You're killing me, Minty! I love _The Sandlot_ so much. It's the perfect nostalgic summer movie. The sand lot itself, which I visited in person in 2017, reminds me of old local skatepark I basically lived at for decades before moving. The fireworks scene in particular is similar to my friends and me riding our skateboards under the glow of the city's fireworks display and lurking the local summer carnival was something we all did (sans the tobacco). What a nearly perfect movie! Alright, now I want a s'more.
S'more what? 😆

"You're killing me smalls!" Something every 30ish year old guy knows. And in the US we don't use the word sandlot either.
We did in 1962.
They used to be called sandlots pretty frequently back when the movie was set.
“Foooooooorrrrrrreeeeeeevvvvvvvveeeeerrrrrr”

Absolutely love this film. I watched it multiple times every summer on VHS, then dvd as I got older and now bluray as an adult.

I had an operations manager once who would say “you’re killing me smalls” every time an issue came up. Needless to say, he said it a lot 😂
He said it a sand.... LOT HAHA get it....a lot sand lot??.... Oh never mind

Wow 🤩 1993? I was just graduating from middle school at 12 and my lil sister was turning 9
I remember when this was released on Videotape,,, summer of 94 my sister and I would always go to the local Video store and Blockbuster to rent the movie and even got the movie poster they were taking down for $1
Then our mom surprised us with the official VHS 📼
I feel like this film resonates a lot more than people realize. From the unforgettable funny moments that take place, out of the box characters, and to the one liners that get stuck in your head. Definitely a coming of age film that stands the test of time.
I loved “The Sandlot” and still do
Every now and then you get on youtube with a purpose in mind.... and Minty has posted about the Sandlot.... what was I here for? WHO CARES!
Growing up I lived a block from the my towns baseball field. Had lots of friends that lived in a 4 block radius of me and we'd get together and play baseball. Almost every day we were on that field. One of the best times of my life and I'll always remember it. This is one of my favorite movies because this was actually my friends and I when we were kids.
In my family we quote "You're killing me Smalls" all the time and occasionally we throw in "L 7 Weenie" when someone is being a square. And just for fun "Fooooorrrreeeevvvverrrrr"
I love this take. This film takes me back to my childhood. I was 16 when it came out. Classic. Here’s a suggestion for you. Please do a 10 things we didn’t know on The Little Giants
If you're gonna do Little Giants, you gotta do The Ladybugs.
I love my, “You’re killing me Smalls.” T-shirt 😂👍🏼
It's one of the best T's ever made.
I have that shirt too! Do you also get people telling you that they love your shirt?
I saw it on a T-shirt last week and gave the wearer a chuckle/point/nod. He said his wife works at a thrift store and brings him home some real gems.
Please do a review of "Better off dead", one of my best 80's movie.
That's one of my favorites. Drag race scene. Guitar playing Eddie Van Halen hamburger.
Mercy Buckets!
Van Halen hamburger is the best, wackiest thing ever.
That one is a favorite of mine. The scene where Lane puts q-tips in every orifice of his face...my brother had done that same thing when he was young.
"I don't feel so good." Heat exhaustion. Wow a treasure for my nephews and everyone who got to share this movie with their kids or any other family member
Loved loved this movie growing up. It still gives me that summer feeling.
This movie taught me what a smoore was.
When my son (he's an adult) does something "bone headed" i tell him "you're killing me smalls" lol
Rick B aka Plastic butcher
So many great lines and quoteables. One that I don't see mentioned that often but that we would say as kids, when Bertram busts out the chewing tobacco and says, "THAA BESSSTTTTT!"
David Mickey Evans, along with some other cast and crew, were here in Louisville at the Slugger Museum/Factory in 2018. At the time he did tease that they were working on a prequel. They had a bunch of props from the movie, here, too.
“Temperatures could get up to 100 degrees” Me: *laughs in Texan*
As do I, living in Vegas. It's a dry heat sure but 115+ is still hot as a muddah-fuhka
Central California here. We're surrounded by mountains so when it's 105, it's really like, 110-115 degrees.
And Utah was a dry heat. Florida does not know dry heat.
Laughs in Texan 🤣🤣🤣 That's awesome!
I lived just two blocks from where the movie was filmed, and yes, as of 2021 the Sandlot is still there, but it looks slightly different from when they were filming the movie. I remember them filming it and how loud it could get at night, it would sometimes keep me up, and I'd just go over to my bedroom window, where I could see the set, and wonder what the hell they were doing over there. I think I was twelve or thirteen when it was getting filmed, and I remember one of my friends was cast as an extra in the movie, but she couldn't tell anyone what they filming.
That's awesome man!
One of the best baseball movies. Sandlot it not just for kids, it's also great for families, a date movie and for anyone that likes baseball.
Wendy Peffercorn!!
Lotiony, oily!
"This magic moment...!!!"
“Michael ‘Squints’ Palledorous walked a little taller that day, and we had to tip our hats to him. He was lucky she hadn’t beaten the crap out of him. We wouldn’t have blamed her. What he’d done was sneaky, rotten and low. And cool."
@@benphillips9973 "The Sandlot" has a lot of great lines, but to me, "He was lucky she hadn't beaten the crap out of him. We wouldn't have blamed her." is the funniest line in the movie. I imagine it doesn't come up as much in casual conversation because there's less reason to say it as opposed to "You're killing me Smalls."
@@skyden24195 I agree haha I also enjoyed the..."He had kissed a woman, and he had kissed her long. And good." 😂🤣 It's an adults voice narrating but it's such a kiddy way of saying it. I randomly have numerous quotes from this movie filter through my head almost weekly...it's quite sad LOL
To this day I still say to ppl " You're killing me smalls!" Mt favorite line too Minty

I Was Dress up Scotty Smalls for Halloween for Tom Guiry
I absolutely ADORE that film. It is a true masterpiece, and I strongly suggest if you folks haven't seen it ..you owe it to yourself to give it a look. There were sequels too , which were not as good as the original but were still good in their own rite .
Reminds me of the original " Bad News Bears"... You should do that one Minty
You should do Radio Flyer, I remember that movie being heartbreaking as a child, I didn’t always have the nicest stepdads growing up and remember being very thankful that I wasn’t in a position like those kids
Radio Flyer was the most heartbreaking and terrifying movie for me to see. For the longest time I refused to watch that movie with all that child abuse, cruelty to an animal, and neighborhood kids bullies
It was fantastic. I’d like to see Birdy too

9:30 “Squirts”?
Guess it wouldn’t be a Minty video if he didn’t misspeak at least once.
It's at least once a video. 😂
Much of this was filmed in my neighborhood. It’s cool because a lot of it still looks the movie. Much of Salt Lake City has look like the 60’s forever… forever...
Must have been quite a sight in the 1930s, like Back to the future 2.
Didn't know what a "sand lot" was?
A lot...Of sand.
Mind blown as well
I'm in Canada and I never knew what a sandlot was before this movie. We just called it a baseball diamond.
@@seeya205 I'm from California and didn't know the term outside of the movie. But I should note, it's not a baseball term. It's more literal, and probably why it's more obscure, it's just a sandy lot.
@@promontorium I looked it up and it does come up as a North American term meaning: a piece of unoccupied land used by children for games.
MAN! The 90's were a great time for kids-sports-flicks! 'Mighty Ducks', 'Little Giants', 'The Big Green', the list goes on!
This is one of those movies every kid needs too see, I remember my mom buying multiples of this movie because I watched the hell out of that cassette.
"Filmed in Utah." Yep. I remember seeing the movie and thinking that the pool scene looked just like a pool/park near where I lived called Lorin Farr Park. Some folks thought I was just crazy. Nope!
I love how minty ends a video by saying "see ya" and falls off his chair. MINTY, how are you doing down on the floor?
I am 53 years old and finally saw The Sandlot! I loved it! I loved this video Minty!
More baseball, and less dead bodies. LOL!
Friends, genuine friends. I never had friends like that growing up, but stories about them always give me a wonderful, warm feeling.
I live in USA and ive never heard the word "sandlot", only when talking about this movie.
@Blueref 79 huh, must be. I was born in 1988.
I’d love this movie, regardless, but it has a special place in my heart, having swum in that very swimming pool. Never will get enough of that “Scab eater!” - “Butt sniffer!” exchange.
Fantastic job on this video. I didn’t see the movie in theaters either but I did see it on video afterwards and I’m not at all surprised that that’s where it got more popular. I think this is how it was always meant to be. I have a lot of respect and nostalgia for this movie, it’s definitely a special piece of my childhood!
Great video. Funny and heartwarming, don't waste your time with the second Sandlot
I have a suggestion for a film, I really like “The Burbs” I’m rather surprised Minty hasn’t covered the movie yet.

Skellington Fan I fail to see it, after looking again, in the video list. And a search does not show a result. You must live in an alternative reality, where Minty has covered the 1980’s film. He has mentioned The Burbs in a couple reviews, but hasn’t done an official “10 things you didn’t know”
One of my top 5. I'd love to see a 10 things.

Love this baseball movie. Even my kids love it. Haven't watched it for awhile. Now I might get the DVD out and watch it this week. Since its suppose to be baseball season.
Growing up in Southern California as a kid, we refered to any vacant dirt lot a "sandlot". Played many games of baseball or army in them. Sometimes we would hop on our banana seat bikes in search of undiscovered sandlots. Fun times...
9:31 you call squints “squirts” 🙉🤣
Was he called squirts in sandlot kids? Lol
If they remade this movie with the exact same concept and released it in 2023, it would be set in 1992.
The way us 90’s kids look back on the 60s is the same way younger people look at the 90s…
Our family loves this movie. 4 generations have watched and enjoyed it. A real classic.
I'm one of those who didn't see it until it was released on VHS. I haven't seen this film in ages, but I'm tempted to look for it again just to remember how good it is.
One of my most favorit movies from my childhood! It got me and my friends to playing "baseball" wich was difficult becaus i'm from germany and it almost was impossible cause you coulden'd get the gear back in the day so easy. Thanks to my Dad, i had two basball bat's, some softballs (yes the americans will kill me for that, sorry fella's) and two gloves. But it was awsome fun for us.
To the title contraverserie, in Germany the movie was called " Herkules und die Sandlotkids" wich means " Herkules and the sandlot kid's".
For you english speaking guy's it's pretty funny how they tryed to translate the quotes into german that " you want some smore" was translatet to "willst ein's mehr" witch is pretty accuerate. Such a good movie for kid's. Thank's Minty for that great vid and sorry for my bad english knowledge.
