Be sure to treat yourself to lunch out on the day you DON’T have to go back to school. It will be a bittersweet day. I always remember how energizing the first day of school was with students and colleagues. I’ve been out 7 years now. Enjoy your new freedom!
The Flag.... I totally understand your thoughts on the flag. My Ex son-in-law was in the Army and I saw Our Flag patch on his uniform and the stars were on the right with strips flying toward the left. I asked why the flag was turned around, he said it wasn't and he went on to explain that with the flag stars on the right ment they/we/our country was marching forever, if the stars were on the left means they/we/our country would be in retreat. I'll always remember that and I'm proud to see our Flag with stars on the right. Hopefully this will help and bring some understanding to Our National Flag.
Love your projects. You Inspire me all the time. I grew up in a home with drinkers and yellers and that is how I got into cross stitch 50 years ago so I could focus on beautiful happy things instead of the ugly things in my world at that time in my life. I am still cross stitching but this time for myself. I recently bought my first Dimensions Gold Kit called Wreath Of All Seasons so I can not wait to get that started. I love when you say "Yes" it makes me smile every time. I hope you enjoy your retirement. I just turned 66 and I am loving mine so far. Happy Stitching.
So, how does it feel to be looking forward to an open year rather than getting to know a new set of kids? I am finding myself busy with my crafting…the sewing machine came back out! Take care and have fun. 🧵🦉🪡☀️
I'm so glad you had a good time at the retreat, Nancy. I've had an idea about your flags. Just tell yourself that the flags are waving in the breeze and then they won't look backwards!
Another great video. Because of your encouragement and inspiration I decided to stitch The Shores of HRH. I had looked at that pattern for years and it was daunting. However, breaking each square into fourths made me think that I could do that. Such a great idea. I have the first square done and am working on the border of the second square. I am really enjoying the stitch. I retired nine years ago. There is an elementary school down the street from me and I walk my dog by there everyday. Last week all the teachers were back to school getting their rooms ready for the start of school this week. Let me tell you how happy I am that I’m not doing that anymore. I so don’t miss it and never did. So enjoy your first official day of retirement.
Another great episode Nancy. You make me smile every time I watch. You will teach 3000 before you know it. Looking forward to your next video to see what you have been up to. ~Pam in SC
Just think of the wind blowing the flag in the wrong direction. Also I have several of Paula Vaughn patterns. I love the patterns with all the quilts. I have only finished one and my father made the frame for me. Also will be soon heading your way to watch the Shippensburg marching band at the football games. My niece attends Ship. You also brighten my day when I watch your video. Hope you soon reach that 3000 number.😊
Retreat was wonderful - I had a great time and I'm glad you did too. I won the most frogs once and all the tablemates had a great time "competing" for the least amount of frogs. It was a fun game. I hope you acquired plenty of Corrin's lovely fabrics while you were there!
First, congratulations on "almost 3,000" subscribers -- you'll get there soon, I'm sure! I always enjoy what you have to show and share with us. What a lot of flosstubers you watch! I've a very short list, but love Brenda and Laura (the Serial Starter); Two Tall Stitchers (they also quilt!); Saltbox Stitcher; Sarah's Stitchy Spot: the Curious Crafters (teachers of middle-schoolers -- math, I think); Evertote: Notes from the Workshop (Kerry and Caroline), and Caroline's personal one, Off the Grid Needlearts; and Traditional Stitches, with that shop's owner, Janice Spencer, and her SAL leader, Rose Heck. Those last 3 are Canadian, and I used to work p/t for Janice, so it's a special favourite. Both she and Caroline talk about what's on in their respective shops...all that yummy fabric and Roxy Floss...Sigh! Anyway, back to stitching -- have a good few weeks as you experience the start of the school year without...you know...
Great video and stitching! I have been floating the idea of breaking down a few of my stitches like you did Strawberry fields. Just seems more manageable. Happy first days of school retirement : ) My mom said there were times she missed it but over all so happy. You look happy!!
You talking about Ann of Green gables reminded me I just bought my first full coverage from TAM stitch Designs on Etsy well I bought Whimsical Village and also bought Ann of green gables it is beautiful, I need to kit them up. I cried when you started talking about the lady saying you brought her joy.......yes!! love you!!!! Laura Stitching by the shore I can not wait to see her video every Fri. Flosstube has gave me so much joy!! I live my life and sleeping, everything in a recliner in my bedroom, I love my daughter and grandkids but it's too much. Big Thank you!!!
Very enjoyable video! Your description of the Grace Notes retreat makes me want to attend, especially since it's close by. Your project bags are great. Love your fabric choices. Enjoy your retirement. It makes you happy and it shows. Yes, my Google Map can very a very stingy talker sometimes. So can my GPS. 🤔
Great video. I love our stitchy community. Your flag is just blowing the other way. And as Queen says, "Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me." And who can argue with Freddie? 🤪
Wonderful video! I love seeing what you have been stitching on. I finished Les Olympiades des Gnomes yesterday. Tonight I am finishing the Star of Wonder FQS sal. Next up is this month’s Log Cabin Christmas block and the Satsuma Street Monster House sal. Happy stitching!! ❤
No time to fully respond. BUT must solve your Megan Anne of Gg delemna. My sister in law introduced us to her. She copied it off PBS LONG AGO. It went with my oldest when she graduated. SO I rebought a set for my youngest daughter and I. She didn’t take it, but I managed to wear it out!! SO I invested in a dvd set. And still pull it out when I have time. Bye for now. Have so much more I want to say, such is life. Take care!!
Enjoyed your video. It amazes me to see the change in your face since you retired. (Noticed it with Roberta Lyle, too.). You seem so relaxed! That’s wonderful for you!
Nancy, you aren't in another world wanting to finish Ann Tong in 2024 - you just need to become a monogamous stitcher!!!! Love you videos and your projects.
You and Beulah have a love hate relationship when it comes to retreat travels… I love Harry’s creation!! He was showing me some of his creations but I didn’t see that.
I keep eying the Bernina. One day, I will be able to upgrade from my very basic machine that I bought 20+ years ago. I am stitching Simple Gifts - Courage for my sister. I am personalizing the initials for her and her supporters during this year since she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Love, love love Anne! We even went to Prince Edward Island! So I stitched Judy's (of J B W Designs) "Anne" in honor of that trip! Then, because I didn't think of it in time to use it on that chart, I used the fabric I got on P E I., on a "Welcome to our Porch" chart . I enjoyed your video, Girlfriend! I love Peanuts too😃
Thank you for your flosstube, you make me laugh. Your fabric was 100 percent justified, it’s gorgeous. I would defend your decision, who could resist Theresa Kogut fabric! Happy stitching, you have some beautiful stitching.
I also won the frog game at the retreat three times! It would have been a fourth time, but I decided they no longer needed to know when I was frogging! I was very happy to meet you!
I agree about the flag being backwards but it is right. The reason is when a someone is carrying the flag and walking forward that is the way it floats.
Great video! I had the same problem with maps in the car sometimes talking., sometimes not. I found out that there is a mute button on the side that was activated sometimes and other times not. 🤷🏼♀️. Just something to check.
Love your flosstube and all of your projects. So happy to hear you are going to the Stitch New England retreat. So am I and it will be my first retreat. Hope we can meet up.
I love your videos. You are so real and relatable!! Keep them coming please. I also quilt and knit so have tons of fabric and yarn in my crowded craft room.
I so enjoy your videos! I'm fairly new to floss tubes, just learned about them in May and I keep finding more and more floss tube people to follow! Just heard you mention that you are in Harrisburg, I'm in Fayetteville Pa so we are practically neighbors 😊. I've always been a 'stitch one project at a time' person so seeing so many people doing so many WIPs makes me want to as well. Nice to also know I'm not the only one who stitches and rips 😂
Evertote/Roxy Floss have never been a combined company. They now occupy the same building, for the last few years, and Roxy floss is now expanding, are great friends but haven't actually combined companies. In about 10 years time, when Anne Tong Uffindel is finished, how are you going to attend retreats? 😂😂 Love your stitching. Hope you are enjoying retirement. The Hawk Runs intimidate me, though I love seeing them done.
So watching your video I realized I have more that I needed to show on my video… wondering where I put my bag of quilt fabric??? Oh and I have the tisket tasket pattern too… now I’m going to need to kit it up so I can join your sal! 😊
New subscriber here, Hello! I found your channel from a Instagram post about the Tisket SAL. I am looking forward to joining you in this. You have beautiful WIPs and congrats on 3k!
About the flag, in the past I was told it should always have the stars on the left. Now I’m so confused when I see our military wearing flags with the stars in the right upper corner. I don’t know when or why it has changed.
I thought I was going to put a picture in about the backwards flag. One reason is a duty to their country. It also has to do with the military. So maybe that can help.
I'm not sure the flag is a mistake. The flag is flying to the left with the flagpole on the right. The stars are on the side of the flag that attaches to the flagpole. Isn't that correct?
Be sure to treat yourself to lunch out on the day you DON’T have to go back to school. It will be a bittersweet day. I always remember how energizing the first day of school was with students and colleagues. I’ve been out 7 years now. Enjoy your new freedom!
