    Happy I found this review. Received my copy of the XL version and it's just what I was looking for.... slightly heavy, long, and stable. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work !

    Its a beast of a tripod but extremely reliable and sturdy.. I use it with a Canon 600mm lens and it is very stable. I'm 6'6", great for a tall person. Great video.

      @@chuckchristianson4334 thank you! In the last 6 months I had to replace all the leg locks as they cracked. It was covered under their 5 year warranty. Took about 4 months just to get ahold of someone to send me the parts though.
      Soon I'll be replacing it with a different venders copy of the Benro Mammoth tripod.

      Welcome! I'd have no issues putting a large format field camera on this. I'm thinking of going to 4x5 for myself in the next year or two.

      @@MannsWoodlandPerspective For a smallish field cameras like Wista DX, not to mention Intrepid, even my Gitzo 1541 series 1 is overkill. I ordered the Benro for the Sinar F2 monorail. Good shooting with large format!

    Great review. This larger tripod appeals to me but... Would you say the smaller version of this tripod is equally stable with a Nikon D500 and 70-200 2.8 lens (5 1/2 lbs.) ? Thanks.

    • @MannsWoodlandPerspective
      @MannsWoodlandPerspective  Год назад

      I'm sure the smaller Benro Mach 3 TMA37AL would easily match your needs. Just have to decide on what tripod head you would like.
      An even smaller tripod would the gitzo that I recently reviewed but its very expensive - 600$

    Thanks for the video of just using and discussing it. I ordered this and the Benro geared head. The downward creep on my ball head just made it impossible to compose with anything over 200mm.

      @@MannsWoodlandPerspective Thanks. I love the quality of the tripod. I’m curious: Are you able to fit it in the bag with a head attached?

    • @MannsWoodlandPerspective
      @MannsWoodlandPerspective  3 года назад

      @@jimwlouavl I doubt it. The tripod is pretty large. I use the 504X fluid head and I just accepted that I have to carry it separately.

    Between the Venlo Mammoth TMTH44C and Mach TMA47AXL, which do you recommend more?

    • @MannsWoodlandPerspective
      @MannsWoodlandPerspective  5 месяцев назад +1

      Well the Mammoth has the bowl so you can level your camera much easier. And that's a win already. But it is about 2-3 feet shorter than the TMA and about 1lb lighter. So really it depends if that fits your needs more.
      The Mammoth is also more video centric.

    What head are you using on the tripod? Not the small Pergear TH3...what's the larger head you have on there? The fluidity of that one looks amazing.

      Manfrotto 504x. There's a video of it here on the channel.

    Hey! I've got a huge request: could you measure the exact height of the tripod with just the first segments extended and the center column retracted? (The chest height you mentioned in the video). Because I'm using a camera with a waist level viewfinder and have to know if I can still comfortably look into it in this position. I hope it doesn't bother you and thank you in advance!! :)

    • @MannsWoodlandPerspective
      @MannsWoodlandPerspective  3 года назад +1

      First leg segment extended, no center column, 48in tall.
      You can also use it with no legs sections extended and use the center post to get the height needed. It's very sturdy with the center post.

      It does not.
      This benro model does, but it's not the extra long version.

    im looking at this for star tracker mount and aps-c w telephoto lense about 10lbs of gear or so. i am 6'3" tall. looking at carbon types and other brands too but they get expensive fast for tall ones! haha

    • @MannsWoodlandPerspective
      @MannsWoodlandPerspective  4 года назад +1

      Absolutely do! One thing to think about, all that extra cost for CF to save a pound on a tripod that still weighs close to 5lbs anyway, is it really worth it? I don't think it would be.

      @@MannsWoodlandPerspective i actually decided to go with the slightly shorter Benro TMA38CL carbon version. It arrived today! I figured IF I need the taller one, I'll get it in aluminum version, but the carbon 38CL version should be my new goto main pod, one that could last decades!!
