@@pieseasmyseas ok cool thanks I want to change the motor on mine but it will run to slow I have one that runs well but runs faster in reverse than forward can't figure it out any ideas
Probably needs to be taken apart cleaned and double check that all the rods and pins are adjusted properly. Also some motors that old and worn will run slower one direction and faster in the other because it's never run in reverse its common in steam trains
@@pieseasmyseas ya I checked the alignment of wheels no binding what so ever I took motor apart cleaned it but it looked really good I was surprised still same motor runs quite as well I did notice the commenter was slightly turned out of alignment cause it holds on with just friction turned that back in time and still same
Great work, I was thinking of making a video of striping and rebuilding a Rivarossi big boy, no need now lol. I’ve got a few big boys, I have one that has rubber/plastic tubes that work as a drive shaft from the motor, they are slipping now, do you have any ideas how to replace them with a better alternative ?
Looking forward to seeing this series 👍 I have a Rivarossi Cab Forward and it’s a great runner.
I have that same bigboy i just bought it the other day
Never have seen a factory 5 pole motor in a rivarossi big boy cab mounted motor never

@@normancoreyBuildingTrains its a mystery then
I put a white towel or a white cloth under my trains and rolling stock so if I drop a screw or spring it will not bounce off the work area.
Doesn't matter to me anymore I'm out plus I don't like lent

Don't forget it's Italian made, so al threads are metric. the bolt in the smokebox of the locomotive holding the bell assy, is a 3 mm socket wrench.
