They need to get that 24hr subdial to work as an alternate timezone. The company that gets that figured out on an inexpensive chrono is gonna be able to print money.
Yep. I pulled out my neo 70s to compare. I like the new ones better, mainly because I prefer the hands. But they're far too similar for me to justify making a purchase
Just received my ascent, mate what a beauty you should be proud. I haven't not known the time since it was on my wrist 😂 fascinated and bewitched. Thanks mate ❤
@@JustOneMoreWatch that orange fume dial is 🤌 my favourite is when going into low light and that blue lume lights up against the smoky dark refractive orange dial.
Got my white Ascent yesterday and love it, the attention to detail and quick-adjustment bracelet make it look and wear so nice. Now I'm just sad that I don't have a black or adventurine one as well.
I do like these but my blue helix Ascent arrived on Tuesday. It'll be my daily for a long time methinks. Absolutely stunning mate, can't wait to see what you come up with next!
I have not checked to see if they ship to the USA or if there is a shipping fee but a simple currency converter of 202 pounds is about 265 US dollars. Seems pretty good with Solar and Sapphire. I have never seen an Orient watch with solar or sapphire.
Received my Ascents yesterday (black and green), sized up the bracelets and the green has been on my wrist since. Call me very impressed. Design, quality, bracelet. All excellent in my opinion. We’ll done!!!
Just picked up a green segues zenith mechanic chronograph the retro canvas strap one and wow I love it just what I wanted you reviewed it awhile back 👌
It's a really nice looking chrono with a beautiful color dial. I just got the white dial Seiko Speedtimer in 39mm for around $450 USD on Amazon. I put it on a Sinn leather strap I wasn't using, and I'm amazed how good it looks.
This is just a new version of my old Solar Orient Neo 70s. It has sapphire now, but it’s the same watch. It is a great watch though. I wear mine a lot. So practical.
Always loved the Orient "Rothman's Pall Mall" style logo. They have actually made some rather cool quartz chrono's in the past and although I don't like quartz there was one exceedingly cool one that I saw in Japan that I very nearly purchased. Very stylish. This one - yeah hate the angled date at 4.30, I would prefer a different colour for the sub dials than black and the plain silver hands on the sub dials look tacky. The sub marine colour is cool. Great review.
Would like to see a comparison between this and the mako solar. I have the automatic semi skeleton in the light blue and its my favourite watch at the minute even over my brietling avenger
The aquamarine version is a beauty. Citizen had some great affordable chronos in the past couple of years but this is going to be a winner as well. Considering the price it would probably be worth it to get an upgraded strap.
Maybe a second model with a quality bracelet and better lume could be introduced. There is a good possibility the clasp itself can be upgraded by buyers; I did that with my old Mako USA
I like my Ascent so much, my other watches are not going to be getting any wrist time for a while… And this Orient is brilliant also! Speaking of which, I truly believe there is a Quartz Chronograph coming from Erebus in the future. 🤞🏼
Looks alright, Interesting to see solar from orient and a cheaper aternative to the Seiko. I wouldn't even worry about the bracelet, just put on a leather strap.
Very tempting because it's solar powered with a sapphire face. A nice daily work watch that is reasonably priced with a decent movement. Overall a nice rounded package. However i would perhaps eventually have to change the bracelet.
Hey Jody, Fantastic video, as always! A big thank you to everyone on the channel for your continued support! If anyone has any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly. All the best, WatchNation
Please could you help? I just purchased the blue model. Is the second hand supposed to be moving as it shows at 7:30 in the video? Mine is not moving... please advise. Thank you so much.
It's fine...however, I'd opt for the citizen eco drive CA0810-88L titanium... it's currently around £220 on amazon in the UK... lovely video as always, btw clear, crisp, precise and full.of all the info you need to make a well judged decision 😊
Good thing about crappy bracelets is they can be replaced. I replaced the bracelet on my Ray II once it started squeaking, totally worth the $70 for solid endlinks and a good clasp.
I've said this before, but I wish that watch companies would give you the option of buying just the watch head, rather than insisting on you taking a cheap bracelet that's going to be immediately removed and stuffed into a box, there to spend far longer than six months in total darkness.
And they dont even know you exist to begin with. Its the same thing as car coming with tires. They make money off straps too so they are not gonna let you have that option
This watch is eerily similar to the Orient Neo 70's Solar Panda I purchased for about $60 cheaper even with the 25% discount. The Neo 70's is slightly larger at 42mm but wears smaller having the same Lug-to-Lug at 48.5mm and fits well. It also has 100M water resistance although I'll likely never take this in the ocean or a pool for swimming. It also has 3 adjustments on the bracelet. So in comparison, I think I'll keep my Neo 70 and pass on this Orient Stretto, thank you very much. 😅
I have to admit, I love unboxing things in nice boxes. That being said, How often do you go back to your original box? For me, I have a watch box(es) to house my collection. Nice large original watch boxes just take up space somewhere. My Dad has been carefully keeping track of his Omega Constellation Pie Pan watch box since 1958. I would rather the money be put into the watch itself. Opinions?
"if you find yourself living in total darkness for the next six month" It is September and I'm still in Scotland. What do you think is going to happen.
Hey Jody, could you make a video covering the British brand microbrand Mönch? I recently bought a peripheral summit from them, and the quality is phenomenal for the price.
Monch looks horrible, fashion watches. Jody will roast them to a burnt black crisp. The entire website, the pictures, the corny 'our story' and watches themselves scream of cheap.
Like the watch. Aquamarine is my fav. Rather not have the 25 percent discount and a DECENT bracelet! Poor bracelets and clasps and endlinks actually ruin the watch IMO.
This would've been great if my Chrono itch wasn't already scratched by China (Sugess). It's about half the price of these while being mechanical. These are nice though. That green one looks really nice. Definitely would prefer it on a strap. I'll never buy another watch with hollow end links. The falling off the wrist thing is real and it happened to me.
The Ascents have arrived and by the gods they are Gorgeous!!!!!!
You bought multiple?
Couldnt agree more!
They need to get that 24hr subdial to work as an alternate timezone. The company that gets that figured out on an inexpensive chrono is gonna be able to print money.
Yes!!!
Seiko Daytona you can use 24 hr as second time zone or alarm,I got one years ago for $175 Canadian good luck finding them now unless there pre owned
@@ef8025 got a model number? maybe I can find something with the same movement
It shouldn't be rocket science
It's just a cheap out to getting a balanced looking dial.
Orient are known for their solartech watches in Brazil. They have many solar models that are exclusive to Orient Brazil.
Orient in Brazil is most popular watch, brazil is only country in have authorization to making exclusive watches .
Feels like an updated and cleaner Orient Neo 70s. Thanks for the video Jodi!
Yep. I pulled out my neo 70s to compare. I like the new ones better, mainly because I prefer the hands. But they're far too similar for me to justify making a purchase
I love Orient. I have several of their watches. The solar chronographs look like they use the same movement that Seiko uses in its recraft chronograph
Just received my ascent, mate what a beauty you should be proud. I haven't not known the time since it was on my wrist 😂 fascinated and bewitched. Thanks mate ❤
Thank YOU! That's great to hear mate.

Just received my black enamel Ascent. It scratches that Sarb itch i needed filled since selling mine and getting deep sellers remorse years ago.
Love your insight Jody.
Thanks for sharing this “blue-green” version … it looks fantastic! 🥰
I do like these but my blue helix Ascent arrived on Tuesday. It'll be my daily for a long time methinks. Absolutely stunning mate, can't wait to see what you come up with next!
The Aqua face is beautiful. A fine watch. As I have done with my current Orient I would change out the bracelet for something better.
I got my Ascent ok .I love it so much. Thanks Dr J. Greetings from Hobart , well worth the wait .I feel blessed.

Thanks Jody, watching your channel is costing me quite a bit these days
WHAT?! You got me excited that the dial was gonna be simple yet sexy like Bambino Version 7. Booh Jody.
bracelet is not a deal breaker since they look better on a leather or rally racing strap imo
Glad you got the shirt, impressed you wore it on the channel so quickly!
I maybe missed it but what is the discount code. I fancy grabbing one of these.
Received my Ascents yesterday (black and green), sized up the bracelets and the green has been on my wrist since. Call me very impressed. Design, quality, bracelet. All excellent in my opinion. We’ll done!!!
I received my white Ascent 2 days ago. Very happy. Well done 👍
somebody needs to remake this movement where the 24hour dial becomes a date dial, it would be so much better for every watch it's in
Just picked up a green segues zenith mechanic chronograph the retro canvas strap one and wow I love it just what I wanted you reviewed it awhile back 👌
It's a really nice looking chrono with a beautiful color dial. I just got the white dial Seiko Speedtimer in 39mm for around $450 USD on Amazon. I put it on a Sinn leather strap I wasn't using, and I'm amazed how good it looks.
Interesting comparison would be with the similar new Citizen chrono and the Seiko Speedtimer
This is just a new version of my old Solar Orient Neo 70s. It has sapphire now, but it’s the same watch. It is a great watch though. I wear mine a lot. So practical.
Hi there. For the White Panda Version, are the 3 subdials black or dark blue in color?
Always loved the Orient "Rothman's Pall Mall" style logo. The sub marine colour is cool. Great review.
Got my fume Green Ascent, the least popular color somehow, and I love it! The hands and indices are insanely well done 👍🏻
Thank YOU! That's great news. Always a relief when people like the watches. Cheers!
Does anyone know when these will be available in the USA?
This summer in Wales has been six months of total darkness...
This looks very cool I’ve got the Neo 70’s version from few years ago it’s great so I’m interested in this it beats the Tactical frog I’ve seen
Would like to see a comparison between this and the mako solar. I have the automatic semi skeleton in the light blue and its my favourite watch at the minute even over my brietling avenger
11:38: Bambino no date?? Where can I find it?
The aquamarine version is a beauty. Citizen had some great affordable chronos in the past couple of years but this is going to be a winner as well. Considering the price it would probably be worth it to get an upgraded strap.
If I didn't already have a citizen titanium ecodrive chronograph I'd definitely be considering the rose gold with leather strap.
I would have appreciated the date be in place of the 24 hour dial. That would have cleaned it up a bit.
Bambono? Looks lovely 👌🏻
Just love that 24hr subdial. Useless on a stupid Seiko, but awesome and fun when found on a Citizen!
Looks alright, Interesting to see solar from orient and a cheaper aternative to the Seiko. I wouldn't even worry about the bracelet, just put on a leather strap.

Could you review Orient Mako Solar Ice Blue Diver Watch RA-TX0206L10B?
will they offer rubber straps?
Which are the most affordable and long lasting mecaquartz watches ??

Nice pick
Just make sure the erebus chrono doesn't use a seagull movement or have a 24hr subdial
The Bambino 🪤 Trap 😮
Better than my latest Casio. Rolled links and resin double spring bar ending.
So does this movement have any relation to the Seiko solar chrono movement? The sub dials and date position are identical after all.
I suspect that it may well do. Makes sense if they share a level of tech.
How much time do you spend in picking out the T-Shirt to wear for each video?
Good thing about crappy bracelets is they can be replaced. I replaced the bracelet on my Ray II once it started squeaking, totally worth the $70 for solid endlinks and a good clasp.
That aqua color is very nice and even at list that’s a cool watch. But yes - the date at 4:30 is just sad.
The aqua dial is very nice IMO
it's one of our faves too! 😍
Received my Purple Helix Ascent today--wow!! Thanks, Jody--it's a stunner.
🥰
Pretty cool watch. If they used that slaved 24 hour dial for a second time zone, they wouldn’t be able to make this one fast enough.
Also got my Ascents, love em both. Now I am hoping you do another run of the Aventurine. Worst miss of my life.

Can you review the new Baltany solar 😉
So that dial w the circle under the indices is right off the new Longines Conquest chrono…..
Would you buy one of these which are nice, or one of the many Chinese Ali offerings around the same price??
When this Orient came out I had just bought a meca quartz Hoffman, I like my Hoffman... but... yeah... Them's the breaks.
I really like solar watches. Just grab and go. While I like a date function. I agree. Get rid of the date and it would look much less awkward
At 11:28, Jody mentions a new no-date Bambino... anyone know a ref # for it? I've been wanting a no-date bambino forever.
Hello,what happened to Peacock Giveaway
Watch Nation are awesome 👌, guess I need to buy more watches 😅, there's also a sexy Citizen chronograph ... also solar or EcoDrive in their case
Thank you for this 25%! Bought one :)
I was waiting for a solar orient without a bezel, love the look
I like having a date complication. 👍 And, obtw, when was the last time you were on your bike? 🤔
Another happy Ascent customer :)

Where i can buy in Australia? 🤷
I saw them on Amazon here. But Orient don't distribute directly in Australia, so it'll be coming from Singapore etc. Cheers!
Does the date wheel sit too deep or is it just me?
I do not like my date wheels at 4:30.
Uh why no tachometer bezel?
Thats a good looking watch

I don’t know why, but chronographs don’t “do it” for me; I’ll stick to restoring unloved Seiko Sea Urchins
Surprisingly attractive looking face, which is about all one can expect in this segment, isn't it?
Seiko, Orient, Citizen...same thing dude
Cool
Neat!
I still don’t own a chronograph. With those lovely dimensions and reliable, accurate movement, perhaps this will be my first.

Pass from me. Citizen provide a lot more value and better designs at this price point with their eco drive chronographs.
I’m a bit of an Orient fan boy, and this is another corker, I just wish they’d spend another 20 bucks for a decent clasp and solid end links…
