    Great review of the Canon C200. Just to clarify one point, with the last firmware update a while back, it is now possible to use both HDMI & SDI at the same time with an option to do so in the memu. The only restriction is that your SDI output will reflect your C200 monitor's display, so when using an extra monitor with recording capabilities you will record everythong appearing on your C200 monitor so you will have to clear your display to have clean output on the SDI

    I’m super sold on this camera . Coming from from Using Mainly GH5 this C200 is literally everything I’m looking for in a cinema camera . Built in NDs , side & top handle. Usable 8bit 4k60 with option for Raw if needed. Affordable lenes. Log profile. I’m amazed at how affordable this camera is compared to release . This is definitely the camera I’ll be filming my movie on

    Super 35 is still better than APS-C, if we dont have C500 M2, which is in my view perfect, because full frame gives you more if you want to stabilize later and crop. By the way C500-M2 has a new update on Canon channel

      You can! For some jobs I’d say it be fine, long form content, interviews, but some clients want a 10bit at minimum so it all depends.

    Have you ever used an external recorder connected with SDI to capture 2K DCI 10-bit 422? I know the camera is capable, but I haven't seen any example footage.
    Great video
    Thanks!

    • @cine-vision
      @cine-vision  Год назад +1

      I have a long time ago. It’s decent but nothing to rave about. I guess for some work it may be helpful but then you’re investing an extra $700 into monitor/recorder/ssd media so it’s a hefty trade off for 2K 10bit

    • @carldiamond4234
      @carldiamond4234 Год назад

      @cine-vision Cost aside, how is the 2k 10-Bit 422 compared to the downscaled RAW 10 Bit 422 that you get after using Media Encoder?

    It's a great camera, but having nothing between 12-bit super heavy storage-devouring RAW and 8-bit video is a bit of a shortcoming for me. If you're starting out in cinematography you're gonna have to make bank with commercial work and having a 10-bit prores would have been perfect for the purpose. 12-bit and quick turnarounds do not mix well, and 8-bit 1080p may not be good enough for a lot of clients.

    • @cine-vision
      @cine-vision  9 месяцев назад

      10 bit is great but my experience is that it’s 50/50 on clients who want raw and those who don’t. Most sit down interview folks for one man band don’t care if it’s 8 bit and for larger more narrative driven commercials 12 bit has been requested. It IS truly the largest shortcoming from the camera but considering where it sits at now price wise it’s a fantastic option.

      c70 is coming down in price as well, and once the c400 hits you'll probably see even more sales. I've been shooting commercials since launch on the c70 paired with much higher end c500mk 2 and Alexa mini's.

      @@cine-vision Love the C200 I got a 10 hour body with monitor etc.. for 1850. I shoot RAW all the time with proxies on SDXC. Storage and computer has gotten so plentiful and cheap that RAW workflow is no issue for me. The 15 stops rivals Vision 3 Film so no one has any excuses with the C200. I can see why Canon discontinued the C200. They would rather you spend 8K on a C300 mk III
