EVO magazine started in 1998. In 2010, EVO named the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 their car of the year. EVO magazine had a special edition in October, 2014 for their 200th issue. They picked 20 cars over their 16 years of publication to represent the best of what EVO stands for. Numerous journalist spent days, driving many miles in these cars…. In the end they picked the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 as THE car, the best among the best. Chris Harris is a motorsports journalist and an incredible driver. In a recent video named “The future of the Porsche 911”, the hosts asks Chris if he could only pick ONE 911 to have/drive, only one, what would it be? His response, the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8. Note: He owned a RS 4.0. This machine is legendary and will gone down as one of the greatest analog driving experiences ever.
little dated on the Chris Harris … GT3 Touring 991.2 is his current “one” car … he is on his second and sold his 992 Touring to keep his 991.2 … Kudos to the 997.1 RS as well … less is more and freer rev’g Mezger … .2 RS is the objectively better car
I’ve spent a lot of time driving the 997.2 RS and the 991.2 touring and honestly I’d have a hard time choosing between them, I might pick the 997 for the looks but driving they’re both unbelievably good
Yeah it’s a lot better performing and more useable plus I think that gearbox is the best manual I’ve ever driven but the 997 feels so special so it’s a tough choice
@@brianhimmelman420 I am fortunate to own a 997.2 RS and after 5 seasons have put about 8000 miles on it. I have driven a few other Porsche machines including a GT3 Touring. I love what the Touring is and as I get older, and think about what my next Porsche will be, I keep going back to the Touring. I am not one of those people that can have a collection of P-cars. Even with a manual spec Touring, I cannot compare it to the RS; the two provide vastly different experiences. I know for certain that when the day comes that I let go off the RS, I will never have as great a driving experience and a part of me will die. With that said, I believe the Touring will provide immense joy albeit in a different ways.
F40 is amazing but awful to drive, very awkward position. F1 is spot on and check all the boxes. But in the 100-200k sports car segment the 997 GT3 is the best driving experience.
I own 2011 GT3 RS in White/Blue. Agreed it's one of the best cars ever made sans 4.0.
isnt it worth a shit ton of money?
You are spot on, that's why I bought one. All feel, pure. 4.1 next-best car ever made.

@@Drivewithroy I think the size feel, single mass flywheel and gear ratio to power give the title to 997.2 RS to me

best car ever made is a massive stretch when the Mclaren F1 and Ferrari F40 etc are a thing but IMO it is the best Porsche ever made

Only 1500 of them made. Last of the Mezger engined GT cars.

Fantastic review, much respect for your comentary
Stunning Car and beautiful Spec! Have a terrific weekend and stay safe Roy!
Best spec for this car!
Great review!
Love the specs 🥵
Love the driver 🥵
😘
I love this car but I don't see why I would buy this over a 2018/991.2 GT3 in manual and have the best of the best for a Manual GT car.
Best P-car, for sure. However, Gen 5 Viper ACR has to be the best, coolest car you can drive in that price range of $250k - $300k.
Honestly I’ve never driven a viper, I’ve always wanted to
who here likes the color grey/black.. Regardless of red trim, just grey/black
Honestly I think the red trim makes it so cool, personally I’d have the blue with red trim just because you never see them
You should get one and track it ;)
You should buy me one
Only if you track it
Done
You speak the truth.
