    You should 1000% do this! And the 911 R talk should be a serious thought. Both of those cars long term are absolute winners and you get to own pieces of Pinnacle Porsche vehicles throughout history. Not to mention you already have the CGT. What a collection that would be!

    There's a white 4.0 for sale in Belgium for €305k (euros that is, so around 270k gbp), 1.559 km so less than 1000 miles.

    As cool as the RS 4.0 is, in my opinion it is crazy that it would be around £200k more expensive than your 997 GT3RS! Keep the 997 and put the £200k towards a Speciale 😉

    This whole video is pretty much spot on. Porsche is probably the most genius brand out there and they do so much right (like being able to retrofit car play into the older models) but the recent everything is a limited edition and the dealer mark ups on even base cars has really soured me on the brand. These modern classics are 100% the way to go however, unless you want the investment car or are going to drive it hard the 4.0 doesn't make sense when you have a 3.8 imo. You also mentioned a 911R which is a real bargain these days, maybe look at one of those.

      @@kane0508LCAC bargain might be a stretch but a few years ago these were going for 600k + in the US. I would think the 911r will rise in value in the coming years, maybe not 600k but I don’t think they will dip massively from where they are at now.

    • @kane0508LCAC
      @kane0508LCAC 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Jay-tc9on was that pre-touring release? I’d imagine that’s had a negative affect on their desirability/collectibility. It’s only really a true niche collectors item now the hardware is mostly shared with a series car. Think I’d rather save the cheese and get a GT product, as they all seem to stay afloat anyway.

    with the money you have spent on it and its history keep it enjoy driving it and dont have to worry about its resale value. if you go for a 4.0 will be limited to miles you can run as will affect its value unless looking at an investment car if so go for it

  • @jordanpullon3352
    @jordanpullon3352 11 месяцев назад +3

    I think it’s a good buy and worth the upgrade given the history with yours and the amount you drive it
    And even though it’s a lot of money it’s a safe buy because you know you won’t loose money on a 4.0

  • @philrob110
    @philrob110 11 месяцев назад +4

    In answer to the title of the vid...I think it depends on what your goal of it is. If you want the objectively most special "GT3", make the move, I think the 4.0L is superb. I love what it represents and the fact it was made as a "why not" exercise. BUT, it is a BIG premium on the 3.8L. For me, if I had a 997 GT3 (I have a 996.2 GT3), I'd take my 3.8L RS to the nearest airport and ship it over to Sharkwerks for their 4.1L Conversion - but that's only because I consider my GT3 one of my forever cars, and if I had a 997, it would fit into that same category, thus seriously affecting resale.
    However, consider the 996.2 GT3, too - but not the RS. From a drivers perspective, the 996.2 GT3 imho represents an incredible "value" point in the Mezger equipped GT3 market. The 996.1 was the first but the .2 is an objectively better car in every way. More power, more brakes but perhaps not as good looking. I don't think the 996RS offers value at near double the price of a top, top end 996.2 GT3.

    • @quintennn
      @quintennn 11 месяцев назад +1

      Big envy over here.
      I would say that your 996.2 GT3 is definitely better looking than the 996.1 GT3. It's personal preference but I'd go for yours over a .1 (for the reasons you mentioned but mainly for looks).

      I’d go for your 996.2GT3 over any of the above cars. Reason being I’ve driven the 997 3.6rs and the 3.8rs. As a driving tool the 997 GT3 3.6rs was my preferred choice and something tells me the 996 GT3 is likely more raw than the others and closer to the Aircooled cars which I have. My pal who had a 3.8 reckoned the Same 3.8 was sweeter than thr 4.0litre. But I guess that’s dependent on who’s driving and what they objectively want from the car. I love to drive, not own for investment purposes as such your car is where I am firmly at

    • @philrob110
      @philrob110 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@y0057 I've never driven any of those you've mentioned, but I guess on paper the 996.2 is the purest driving experience. The RS perhaps more so but not at double the price. Regardless, the best GT3 is the one you've just driven.
