    Owning or having a luxury car is nothing, what will kill you is maintenance,BMW and Mercedes loves your saving account money, and be careful buying a used one,because some people skip maintenance and trade them in

    • @drstevej2527
      @drstevej2527 17 дней назад +6

      All BMW maintenance is included in the first 3 years and most that are purchased within 5-7 years are CPO cars. Also maintenance records are available if you buy from the dealer as is something you can ask from the owner.
      Anyone buying an 8 year old German car has no business buying a car.

      What does that even mean? ALL BMW come with a 3 year warranty that covers maintenance. CPO cars extend that to up to 7 years. The vast majority of these cars are traded in as the OP indicates which means they are most likely going back to a BMW dealer.
      In short only a tiny fraction of all these vehicles lack excellent maintenance unless they are much older.

    Just ordered a front parking sensor that went out on my Lexus GS 350 F-Sport. Lexus dealership wanted over $1k to fix. Tried calling Toyota dealership to order part and they said they don't have access to Lexus parts (even though when I pulled the sensor out the front bumper the part number started with the word Toyota 😂. Mercedes is not a luxury car. The segment is called premium or near luxury. Yes insurance, fuel, maintenance, depreciation, consumables are all more expensive. You sacrifice reliability, durability, and efficiency for style and performance. I will say a lot of the car influencers have shown that a lot of very expensive repairs can be taken care of for much less if one is mechanically inclined and has some basic tools.

    I remember my co-worker having a 1986 MB 190E, and when you closed the door, you could feel the weight and quality that MB used to have. He had a problem with the wiper motor in all the time he had it, and he DIY'd that....and that was the extent of mechanical issues. The interior was almost primitive compared as today's MB's. I would take quality any day, (older chap speaking here who has had European and American luxury cars) there seems to be such a disconnect between luxury and cost, quality and value. But life comes only once so if a luxury car is your thing, go for it, but go in with open eyes, I guess. For some folks, there is no difference between a need and a want.

    Bad thing about a low priced Mercedes Benz is when I hit a deer they totaled my car, sure the estimate was bogus but that's how body shops buy your car from your insurance company, fix it cheap and make a huge profit selling it. I'm buying my car back and cobbling it together for about 15% of their estimate, screw those people. My car was perfect, 57,000 miles, 11 year old GLK350 4Matic. Just remember that rapidly depreciating vehicles are only around until the accident. Thanks.

    It's all about what is most important and how much it's going to cost. Unfortunately, many irresponsible people cannot and will not make sensible decisions. Then they end up wasting a lot of money and some end up with a repo and bad credit. I could afford an expensive luxury car but, that's not that important to me at 71 YO. A good safe, reliable, and attractive car with great MPG is all the luxury I need. My 2020 Camry LE is all I need right now...along with my 1970 F-250. The key to luxury vehicles is paying it off asap within warranty. $2k per year on tires is nothing if you no longer have to make $2k monthly payments. If you can't afford that then by all means get the Lexus or Toyota.

    Luxury is all gimmicky to me, I just want light weight, high performance, sports handling, bucket seats, double wishbone suspension, but backup camera, touchscreen, parking sensors, push button start, and led headlights are good. Don't care about leather seats that age badly compared to fabric, heated seats/steering wheel, moving headlights, electronically controlled breaks, two mode oil pump, and so many other superfluous stuff. I never driven in a Lamborghini Countach, but I've heard you can hear so much mechanical sounds in the cabin, wheel sound, wind sound, it's all rather dramatic at low speeds, which I would rather take over a boring zero feeling luxury car.

    My 1998 Corolla laughs with the word *luxury* . I do not care for luxury. I care for investment. Despeciation is a word I am in war with for life. Now, people see me in my 1998 Corolla and laugh? I DO NOT CARE. They are the ones with vast monthly payments, not me. They are the ones having to get a second job to afford the payment, not me. I am just a simple guy that invests. A simple guy that gets paid, not pays.

      Why don’t you just eat ramen every day? Why are you buying more expensive food than ramen? Why don’t you live in the cheapest house in the worst area of town? Why are your shoes and shirts not the cheapest Walmart brand? I don’t get why people feel like they need to go cheap on their cars.

      @@zfunk9 I do exactly that, I do not buy luxury, I live in a house built in the 60s that I own, no mortages and from 42 years old (now 55) I have quit the rat race all and for good. Although we do not have Walmarts in Greece I tend to buy domestic brands that are cheaper. And my car is not considered cheap by any means. It is consider payed off so more money goes toward investments, which I manage myself, so no commission for any third persons.
