My worst bite ever was from a love bird 😂but since then I have been bitten by budgies, geese and my cockatiel, it’s the price you pay for enjoying birds and not reading them properly all the time, it’s so easy to get too confident with them and forget that they are unpredictable animals, we live and learn! ❤
My very first bite came from female lovebird. I have a bonded female and male and the female is very shy. I had only just adopted them probably a month or two earlier. I was amazed at how hard that little bird bit me. It felt like a firecracker went off on my finger. Anyway that was two years ago now and it hasn't happened again. I think as you learn more about them and read them you can avoid a lot of bites.
@@annajbanana2132 these weren’t my birds 😂 I had never kept birds before that except for a little budgie some years before, I had no idea that such little cute birds like lovebirds could be so vicious 😂 I gained a whole new respect for ALL birds that didn’t know me after that
My first (and worst) bite was from a cockatoo. I was at a bird sanctuary to see some big birds, accidently startled a white cockatoo, and it bit me hard to the point where I started bleeding a bit. The pressure was like 300 psi+!
You have to remember that he wont do it again unless you do something that really ticks his buttons. Birds ALWAYS bite for a reason at IT always has something to do With something you did or Else they dont do it cause birds are highly intelligent. You knew what you did wrong so doing exercises for him to get used to you handling other birds and teaching him to be less territorial Will help a lot. You shouldnt fear him these things happen thats a part of having birds. It should not be often at all but it still Happens.
Before Hopie attacked you, did you see his body language? He was low to the ground and swaying back and forth, sideways. Just know to avoid him, if you ever see him acting like that. It seems whenever these boys pair up and are hormonal, attacks can happen. Like Coco and that other macaw you had before. Coco turned into a gangster. It’s just so hard to believe Hope did that to you. Do you think there was something else that happened, that made him real mad at you?
I completely understand what you feel, I remember when I got bitten by one of our larger snakes (a coastal carpet python), I was completely fine (the bite just looked like a bunch of pin pricks) and it was completely my fault (I by accident grabbed near his head which is a no no in the snake world) and though I understood what went wrong I couldn’t help feel a nervous when holding the larger snakes again. 99% of bites/attack are the persons fault but you shouldn’t feel shame for being a little nervous, just take the bite as a learning experience and over time you get back to what you had before.
I was bitten on the ear and face. My bird tore a small chunk from my ear. I was able to react quickly to the facial bit by turning away. My confidence was definitely shook. Im slowly starting give trust back to him. The agression was caused by me making specific head movements that my bird took as a threat. I had no clue i was making him feel threatened. I thought we were playing. Lesson learned.
Yes I believe hormonal because my female amazon that I had almost 17 years is screaming in April May every year they told me they get irritable those months are mating season, she was always afraid when I was getting close I thoughy she wasnt harmfulvthis yearcwhen I was changing the food she grabbed my thumb I acted fast pulled it out I dont knowif she could really hurt bad I had little scratche I gave her to a friend who had prt store thinking he understands her
I had medium size amazon female always afraid I was trusting her because I thought being afraid wont come to me physicly she was always in the cage sometimes let her out I had her around 15 or more years, and during April May every year she was screaming early mornings I didnt know why I thought mating season as I was told, so in the evening I was changing the food she grabbed my thumb luckily I pulled it out fast had little cut Im not sure if she could really bite harder but scared me, I have another parrot amazon tries to bite sometimes Im careful but he bit my daughters fingers also she's aware careful when going around now, I gave the girl to a friend who had a pet store thinking he understands more why shes behaving weird during those months I still dont know why could it be hormonal during this time, I see Hope did that too during these months
Big birds have a rankorder among each other, within the flock. Hopie has a strong personality, he is a character, and yes, he is jealous on Love. Before Love came, Hope was the King of the flock, and now he feel replaced by Love. When Love came, I adviced you to devide your attention between Hope and Love very carefully, because I saw it come. You cannot among their rankorder, and manipulate a bird into your will, you have to respect their rankorder. Sorry for saying this Carolin, but this is the way it is. The best thing you can do now to win Hopes trust again is to put him in his old position. Give him the feeling that he is still the King, but he have to share this with Love. Hope maybe like to cuddle with other people, like Love does, but that is not allowed. Sorry, but I do understand Hope. I understand how he feel, and were he is going through. And I don't think that he could settle in with somebody else. You would make him very unhappy if you sell him. His personality is formed. So, you can win his trust back by putting Hope and Love on one line.
I hope you heal soon.
I love seeing your free flying videos
Thank you so much 😊
Don't show her that you are afraid of her....remember they can sense how we feel. You are the boss!!! Show her that she's beneath you!!!❤
Carolyn, Never Give Up, Always No Fear, Birds Bite Never Be a Big Deal
Such a beautiful thing watching your birds fly free, hope your ear heals soon x
I really feel bad for u u really trusted it for a long time😢😢
Your so brave to keep him, most people would put their pets down after doing something like that. Your a brave intelligent parrot owner
Hopey is like "mom, I forgive you" 😆😆
I think just don’t make him excited before you handle him. I hope you will heal soon
Yes very true Caroline don’t show Hope that you are afraid of her. Just do your normal routine with her

you have to be careful on how you touch them to. it seems like he was getting hormonal when you were touching him

Frank, what type of head movement was it? Were you bobbing your head, like a saying yes type of motion or something?
❤ Hopi needs to behave with mommy. 😢
Maybe a little bit careful Next time Even if you have your Is broken With hope
Seems they do not care to fly in that dry lake bed. Nothing to fly too/around and so on. They just fly out and circle back, then get in the car.

As a bird owner, this honestly makes me cry
I would have my bird bite me like that, and then I would just never trust him *again*
it's hard
@@CarolinvonPetzholdt Fr, he just turned from one of my favorite in the entire flock, but know he is dead last
