I just wanted to say thank you!! I was considering getting a bird then I watched your videos went to a bird store and interacted with them to see how I how enjoyed it... I realized it wasn’t for me... so thank you for saving me $ and stopping a bird from getting into the “system”. We are getting a second dog instead!!
Great post. I also choose not to buy because of all the past few years of watching, learning and plenty of homework. Mostly it's about being REAL and Honest with yourself and even more important is my love for these magnificent exotics and never be that next one that decided to late. I actually got pretty depressed about my decision for abit and still hurts but my saving grace was to volunteer and also maybe Fostering one as a jumping off point to the best home for this bird. Between Jamie and Dave and parote playhouse April I learned the most and Sincerely honest advice anyone could ask for. So like you I'm very grateful to this wounder Team

I dont often responds to other posters unless I feel a kinda connection and its great to hear about the SAD Mistakes that cost both a great deal of upset and hurt, and of coarse the birds take the greatest hit like all animals as they dont have a voice. I started my journey checking out several utubers with birds but quickly found the few that like you o follow simply because they are awesome dedicated people with a ton of great info for those who really want to do the right thing. So hats off to us 🥰 and we can continue being happy watching those gorgeous birds. All thr best to you and yours through the holiday season. 🎄.

Dave & jaime i have a blue & gold black throated macaw name.d wonka . My two friends eddie & angel are actually the owners but they got a dog named fitty & eddie & angel started paying a little bit to much attention to fitty than wonka and the bird got pissed and started ( I guess ) looking for someone to be its lover ,its a lady bird . I've been around wonka for 2 years . The bird is about 20 years old . I learned alot from you're show $ others about doing alot of research before even thinking about getting a bird ( 100 hrs ) all three of us decided to let the bird go live with me . For the longest time wonka intimidates the holy hell out me . Bit the shit out of me damn they bite harder than f- - - !!! . Anyway me and wonka are getting along alot better now, she only bites me 2 times a day .so I wanted to let you know that to own a dog you've got to be a cool SOB .but to own a bird you have got to be a super cool SOB !!! Yes definitely lol and they use those can openers to destroy around 6 toys a week chew of corners of your new coffee table and try to peel of wallpaper
I don't remember where I first heard this phrase, but it has always been my favorite for describing what it's like having a macaw :)

He seemed super content when you were demonstrating walking around with him and putting him upside. He looks like he loves whatever attention you’re willing to give to him! Haha

There have been days like that for all of us, where we feel like pulling our hair out and screaming. But you're right, we do get so much back. My little feather buddy is just like that. Big birds intimidate me, that's why I have a cockatiel. I asked for the most easygoing bird and I was paired with her. I thought she was funny looking with her orange circles on her face and yellow crest. Now. she is my best friend. Say aww here.

Have you ever considered pigeons? Wonderful pets, they’re domestic and don’t have a lot of the cons most parrots have (noise, bites don’t hurt/rarely even bite, less pricey in general besides vet visits)

I adopted an African Grey 7 years ago or maybe I should say "he adopted me". The amount of love and joy that he brings daily is something only another bird person can fully understand. Of course, we just won't talk about the daily frustrations, but all worth it in the end. :)

I found you a few days ago as you were taking care of Morgan. Morgan's story was the best thing ever. I'm not a bird guy. If I was 20-30 years younger, I would have the patience and time to train a macaw. Since I'm 50, I'm more of an aquarium/fish person. That's more my speed...so I can live vicariously through your birds.

He's a young, happy bird. Loving life and showing it every minute of every day. Be thankful for his screams, for his messes. For all that he does. Just think of what it would be like if he didn't scream or tear things up... he'd be a sick bird and we all know what happens to sick birds. So be thankful for all that he is. I know you are. You are a lovely person.

We love seeing your videos with Jinx! We have a 2.5 year old female blue throated macaw named Zazu and a 1 year old male red fronted macaw named Raja. Zazu definitely reminds me of Jinx, she is super touchy, mouthy, and goofy. She always wants to be close/on me, even if she is just preening in my lap. Meanwhile Raja is happy as can be playing on his stand all by himself 🙂 She can be a handful and frustrating, but so rewarding at the same time ❤️

Great video! Jinxy is adorable! I know its a weird comparison, but you described the relationship I have with my Lovebird to a tee when you talked about how of all your birds he drives you the most crazy and you had to work hard with him. It took about 6 months for me to earn my Lovies trust, he squeaks and squeaks and it drives me crazy some days, he'll do all the naughty things that he knows he shouldn't just to push my bottons (like he is RIGHT now! lol) but I love him SO much!!! He makes me laugh everyday and he truly loves me and can be so deeply affectionate. I wouldn't trade him for the world. Just because he's small doesn't mean he's "easy" he's much more of a challange then my Conure. But the bond we have is sooooo rewarding! 💗
