Laura says it all the time, which is where Charley got it. So now Charley says it a lot. Even when you touch or move her toys. “Aaah”. Lol. Thank you for watching!
My blue and gold macaw loved to sing the song "Hello Dolly". I think he liked it because he all ready knew how to say "Hello". Most days when he'd go through his repertoire you'd hear him sing "Helloooooo Doll! Well, hello Doll! La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!" (never could get him to say "Doll-y" )
We had him for 15 years and he should have lived a lot longer but during Winter when it was too cold to clean his cage outside I'd clean it inside, one time I used too much cleaner or put him back in his cage too soon and he asphyxiated and died. This was almost 20 years ago and I still feel absolutely horrible about it. But I'm glad for the memories I have of him. This is him: ruclips.net/video/PJd2RurHYUU/видео.html
My heart literally just broke when I read your reply :-( I watched the video of him he was precious ... I am so sorry he died. I only use steaming hot water to clean my birds cages for fear of chemicals they are so delicate.
Yes, thank you. I try to tell and warn everyone I can that I know who have birds about this so it never happens to them. I and my family were warned about cooking with Teflon in bad ventilation and keeping him away from drafts, nothing about cleaners besides common sense though. It was just Fantastik spray cleaner that I'd used before just to get the poop off the bottom grill of his cage, I just think that time I either used too much, put him back in the cage too soon or both. The only other thing is, that very Spring after the Winter when I lost him, my dad called me to his room, there was a baby cardinal stuck between our regular window and our storm window and the mother was outside flying around in a crazy panic. I was able to delicately get the baby bird free from between the windows and it rejoined it's mother. Maybe saving a bird was the universe's way of helping me find balance with the pain, or I can at least think that.
aww. glad you were able to save the baby stuck and are now able to spread the word about cleaners and teflon pans etc .. I even go as far as to buy peppermint oil organic and put some drops in a glass spray bottle with water shake it up and that is how I freshen the air in my home I won't even buy air fresheners and I only cook with stainless steel pots and cast iron pans. Back in the day there were hardly even any vets that know a whole lot about these birds and even less Avian vets so glad this isn't the case anymore and we know so much more about the care and wellness of them.
Charlie is very sweet... I have a Blue and Gold also his name is Harambe has the same large concrete perch you have and I also keep it on the outside of his cage he unscrews it at least 3 times a day and it smashes to the ground how do you keep Charlie from doing this? at this point I do not bother with it anymore. He also dismantles pretty much everything that I put in his cage I am now on the 4th set of door locks he manages to get all of them open while he is on the inside of his cage.
Cheryl Maloney , Charley’s has only fell once and it dented our floor. She doesn’t spend much time on her cage anymore . I’m not sure how to keep harambe from taking things apart, luckily she hasn’t done much of that.
Yes that perch is very heavy when it falls it makes my birds freak out.. Maybe he will grow out of it he is fairly young still. Harambe doesn't spend too much time in his cage either he unscrews that perch even though the door is open and he loves to be out of his cage he will go in specifically to unscrew that off his cage lol ... he is a brat, but I love him.
Our rescue Macaw talks, and, unfortunately, curses. She was at a shelter for awhile and now meows, also. She's plucking her plumage which we are trying to stop with calming additives.
avn rulz charley says “whore” but I’m hoping she will forget it as she learns more. She knew it before we got her. I bet the meow is cute. I hope you can get the plucking under control. Thanks for watching!
avn rulz research MSM supplement for her plucking of her feathers. It’s what all Animals get naturally from plants and one of the reasons dogs eat grass.
@@traceykays433 oh wow…I wondered about that. My dog has always eaten grass and has often had a bile release after doing so. I thought that’s why they ate it. Now she is eating dirt. She’s 14 and just started eating it.
How long you folks been with Charley? I live with Rio 33 y/o pure B&G macaw, whose been with me since she was 10 months old. She had been out with an older mature macaw who taught her some pretty bad habits. I’ve been working with her a long time gaining her trust. I can now put my fingers and thumb straight in her mouth and she’s gentle, learning how to “touch nice” letting me tickle her and not getting too rough with me.
This was 7 years ago when we hadn’t had her very long. We’ve had her a little over 8 years now. I can do about anything with Charley now, she’s pretty comfortable around my wife now also, until I come in the room. 33 years is a long time, that is amazing!
KDrop yes it is. We took quite a few bites in the beginning. They can really take out a chunk of meat. She sometimes struggles with pine nuts but has learned to soak them in water to soften the shell. She makes quick work of walnuts, hickory nuts, pecans, and almonds.
Hope you live in a Detached house - i used to live in a terraced house and living next-door to this for 10 months was HELL ON EARTH... especially that loud squawking. Nearly drove me insane.. totally selfish if you are attached to another house.
I love the way you love this bird that is the way everyone should take care of them
We love her so much. Thank you so much for watching.

I love how Charlie goes “aaaah!” Like everything she sees strikes her fancy.

Is this the same Charlie that was churchill's parot?
No, Charley isn’t that old.
That was actually disproved. The bird was never owned by Churchill.
