- Johnny Depp is getting emotional about his return to Cannes Film Festival. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor was teary-eyed as he and his co-stars debuted their film, “Jeanne du Barry” in France on Tuesday night. At the premiere, he and his cast mates were met with a seven-minute standing ovation and according to Variety, it was an impactful moment for Johnny, who was reportedly "taken aback" by the response. The Golden Globe award winner was seen waving to the crowd and hugging his colleagues as they received their praise. In the movie, Johnny stars as King Louis XV and speaks French in the film. It is his first project back on the big screen following his controversial and highly publicized legal battle with his ex-wife, Amber Heard.

How many different characters have we known him to play spectacularly? This is not the start of a career in French films, this is another role in his vast repetoire - showing us there really is no acting gig he can not do; how many other actors do we know that could act in French?! His presence in this film also means it will now be seen worldwide, as opposed to just in France had they chosen a French man. They were v lucky to get him for it, but as he is man with the highest of integrity, and not in need of making money, he will choose what is right for him, and has done for a long time now.
