Patients at BC Children’s Hospital were delighted by a visit today with one of the world’s most famous pirates, Captain Jack Sparrow. Hollywood actor Johnny Depp arrived at the hospital dressed dread to toe as his character from “The Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise. The charismatic character charmed patients and their families alike, leaving smiles and laughter in his wake during his 5 1/2 hour visit.
This is a man that doesn't deserve what he is going through.
Unfortunately that is the case with many people :/.

@@ania5038 I don't know, it's just a role he played later on in his career. A generation knows him as Jack Sparrow, but a lot of people still mainly remember him as Tom Hanson, Benny, Edward Scissorhands and Hunter S. Thompson.

I've done construction work in Iowa City at the university children's hospital. We had EXTREMELY limited contact with the patients/families other than the fact we were in the same building and would sometimes pass in the public areas. And that place f'ing wrecked me. Seeing the faces of the parents who's kids are there for whatever reason (none of them good, you don't go to UICH for the sniffles) was gut wrenching. I have a son that was young at the time, and all I could think was "there, but for the grace of God, go I." ANYONE that works with and helps these kids deserves the blessings of a thousand gods.
You can see how hard it is for him to keep acting and smiling, how sometimes he is stuck for couple of seconds fighting his emotions and tears =/ All the respect to this HUMAN!

My disabled son was an in patient at great Ormond street hospital London when Johnny visited the children wards in his famous Jack Sparrow costume. He spent over 4 hours with the children and he gave them 100 percent of his attention. He was engaging, warm, humble, gentle and genuinely kind. He brought so much happiness that afternoon to so many sick children, some with terminal illnesses. I will be forever grateful to Johnny for putting a smile on my little boys face at a dark time in his young life. To be falsely labelled a 'wife beater' is a terrible thing. He is very brave to stand in A London court everyday for 3 weeks and to have his personal life exposed for the world to see. The British public love him and he has so much support here. I hope he wins his case. I'm team Johnny all the way #TeamJohnny

Being a parent is the biggest motivation tostay in character, as you understand how much your own child would need it.
The strength these children have is amazing. I commend him for his also. I got lost in a hospital once. Ended up in the children's cancer wing. I saw 2 children both bald. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I was an emotional wreck for the rest of the week. Always brings a smile to my face seeing people bring or try to bring some fun and happiness to these kids.
I know he was probably in tears when he got back to his car.

What's even more admirable about this is that Depp has social anxiety. As a sufferer, myself, I know this must be challenging for him to be among groups of people interacting. It would be much easier for him to avoid these scenarios and stay home and donate money instead but he chose a more difficult route. Kudos to him.
I think acting is his way of dealing with his social anxiety. I just think he's very uncomfortable being himself. At least that's the impression I get when I see footage of him being himself vs. him being in character.

I've actually heard his friends describe him as quite social and outgoing, generally, despite the fact that he is pretty shy/socially anxious. He likes to have fun and have a good time, they say. And many in his life noted that changed after Amber entered his life. He became more withdrawn and recluse.

The amount of tears Johnny probably held back doing this is admirable. I caught a few times where it looked like he was getting choked up but made a joke. Especially with the little boy that he was asking to sit up and the boy did but you could tell on his face it was hard and Johnny kind of ran/joked away but came back. He has nothing but empathy. I pray for him to have such a great life as well as I pray for the children and families in that hospital. ❤
