Here are another 20 subtle differences between the original Super Mario RPG for the Super Nintendo and the remake for Nintendo Switch :) - Игры
7:12 the save block isn't GONE, it and the hidden treasure is moved to AFTER the maze.
Yeah. Looks like this person just didn't check lol.
I mean it being after the maze is a noticable change that i'd say it's enough to claim that it's gone, for it to count as just "moving it" it should be a room or two away, not a lot of rooms with enemies in it
@@superbeta1716 the maze is basically just one screen with different enemy layouts. And you can tell they just shuffled the rooms around from the original. The hidden chest is even moved with it
I feel like going through every name change is just another can of worms entirely, and should be a separate video
Every Rename in the SMRPG REMAKE!
I think with the name changes you kinda also need someone to look at the original Japanese too and analyze why it was translated differently. Like whether a translation is more accurate or whether a translation is using some clever wordplay to get something across is important context.
@@Superninfreakwent down a rabbit hole with translations yesterday; lots of interesting stuff, would make for a great video
27 years later and countless replays, I guess I'll never stop learning (or learning stuff again for the second or third times since I forget) new stuff about this game.
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! Bruce lee?!
RIP Bruce Lee reference.
that reference was removed not because of Nintendo being Nintendo, saying oh, this reference is out of date, better remove it. No, it was removed for legit reasons. The Lee family doesn’t like his name being mentioned in fictional media. So Nintendo wanted to respect their wishes so they removed the reference
@@BlindMelonLordI’m sure fear of litigation has nothing to do with it :)
For number 8, it always struck me as him conducting the orchestra, even during the original version. It is simply shown more clearly in the remake.
Regarding the Minecart; on the Original when you rescue Dyna and Mite, only Mario is in the Minecart, yet on the Remake, he is hanging on the back while Dyna and Mite are found IN the Minecart
this remake has a lot more going on than you first think
Also in the minecart game in the original only Mario was seen in the cart. In the remake you can see dyna and mite in the cart as well.
There are some old things that I don't think should have been changed. Making some characters more alive rather than static. It always confuses me why, on better hardware; some actions become less energetic. Shouldn't it be better?
Costs more to animate.
Not to be that person but the first fact is incorrect. The music plays in a slightly different pitch when it’s raining in the SNES version. I always noticed it, even as a kid
6:13 just like sunset wilds... Is the switch incapable of handling gradual time of day changes?
No. Even the PS2 was capable of that. I imagine the change was meant to reflect that the trip wasn't that long. Either that, or time/budget restricted them adding it in.
@@SakuraAvalon The sunset was a nice original feature, but it's gotta be related to that the daytime is more apparent in the Remake in Moleville, and it'd be odd to go to sunset, and then be back in daytime, meaning they'd need to add an evening light palette to Moleville after every mini-game play.
4:08 I’d assume that’s so they wouldn’t have to change it for different languages.
yea
Argh I want this game so bad
#9 is weird, you say クリジェンヌ without translating it into a format the average person can rēad, like Kurijennu or Kurisienne. Also you leave off the first symbol, Ku(ク) even though it's right there on the screen.
Yeah, he probably should have romanized it. But he didn't leave off any characters. What do you mean?
@@peenywallie I literally specified which character he left off, and identified it as the first... it would be impossible to not know which one I am referring to. However, I did misspeak... or type... a bit, go to 3:50 and match クリジェンヌ with what he has, it starts with a different symbol than the one I'm using and the one you can clearly see at the bottom right of the screen. So, _technically_ he did leave it off, but I really should have said replaced.
@@Wendy_O._Koopaだと言っても…同じじゃない?上も下も同じく「クリジェンヌ」だよ。字体が違っても。
@@peenywallie Apparently no neutral deed goes unpunished either. I make a very slight correction like "You see this character used in the game? You didn't use that one." And you're ready to go to war over it, and you either speak Japanese, or have a friend who can, or used Google translate as some kind of own; which makes no sense in context since we're talking about romanizing the characters. If that is indeed what "Ku" looks like in that font, then maybe he should have used a different one? If it very clearly doesn't match what's on screen, someone's gonna point it out.
The only question now is whether or not he did it on purpose in order to bait people into talking about it, to boost the algorithm.
@@Wendy_O._KoopaSheesh, sorry. Since you were commenting about Japanese characters, I assumed you knew the language.
Neat!
I just beat the game and I'm so glad because it means I can watch this video!!
pheraps they removed go and in since its translated in multiple languages?
I fealt the chest enemy named change odd, but other than that. Most changes are gameplay adjustments.
Also, liked the minecrat minigame improvement! ✌️
I think they devs just removed all references to real life "things" across the board. Mallow doesn't compare Mario to Bruce Lee, so they couldn't really keep a monster name in that references Pandora, which is from a real world, old religion.
Which is a pity because I love that original name too :D
At least the mimicks are named after genuine reactions to finding them.
Mario hits a ? Block, which makes an Ad play.
That happened to me. How fitting, RUclips.
Neat stuff
Where's Mallow didn't say Bruce Lee in the Remake
Theres no return spring after beating croco. The map fast warp takes over that job.
4:04 Augh, you could have had the "go" in "gone" share that same color change! How sad.
Hmmm... Sunset Wilds lacks it's sunset... This game too? Interesting...
How about there are two mystery bags you could pick up in mushroom way where you save toad the second time… they even have a tutorial about them… and then you never find another in the entire game.
Toadkovsky's idle animation is a tragedy and ruins the whole game
(yes that is a joke)
7:52 speen
Huhwhat
Whuhoh
Pleaseno
Comeon
The original just seems way more polished to me. I hate to say it but I’m happy I did not buy the remake.
Huhwhat
Soul vs soulless.
They couldn’t even get the sunset ffs.
Huh? What?
