This program was my favourite of all time. The bridesmaids dressed as Teletubbies left me unable to breathe due to laughing so much. Rest in Peace Emma and thank you so much, you were a delight to watch. ❤❤
Alice Tinker and Trigger two of the absolute greatest iconic characters ever seen on British TV. Both acted with a genius to be admired and enjoyed for ever.
Steven Colbert once asked What do you think will happen when we die, Keanu Reeves?. Keanu gave it some thought and then replied ""I know that the ones who love us, will miss us."
This is such a beautiful tribute. I loved this show so much and Emma Chambers was such a talented actress. She is missed. Rest in peace Emma. May you have them all in hysterics up there ❤
I grew to love British programming on PBS this side of the pond. The interaction between two brilliant actors like Dawn and Emma made it sweeter. You are a treasure Dawn as was Emma. Your friendship is clear. Bless you both, and my condolences my dear sweet Vicar.
I can’t believe…I can’t believe Alice is gone. At the end of every episode when she not only didn’t get the Vicar’s joke, but she also managed to take it all very seriously, well, it was brilliant. Thank you, Emma, from my heart, for oh so much joy. Now the Angels are laughing and loving you too. R.I.P. dear heart.
Oh my days. That was a hard watch. Watching a comedy legend like Dawn French break because she’s honouring her character colleague and their show…but really she’s mourning her real life friend. Urghhh. Both beautiful and heartbreaking
Thanks for the smiles, laughter and lightening of my troubles through your character Alice and everyone on the show. Amazing cast of actors and comedians. RIP Emma 😢
I haven't seen Emma in a large number of productions but the few I have seen were made all the better for her contribution. She was a unique character and is sadly missed.
Jees! That was beautifully said Dawn. Thank you and thank you Alice for brightening this place each week you were in Dibley. You did good girl, God Bless
Love and loss are so close . They live side by side . Beautiful souls remain in our hearts forever .its a wonderful thing were even here. Make each day count dont waste it . X❤
OMG. What a heartfelt and beautiful tribute. “Those we love are eternally here because of how they change us…” could any tribute be more lovingly said ……. And so suitable for all of those we have loved and have changed us ……. Well done Dawn and vale Alice Tinker ❤
Dawn you are such a beautiful woman h full of everything great. Alice was the best & absolutely gorgeous, I still watch the series from beginning to end every year, thank you & Alice for making millions of peoples lives better
we watched every episode of Vicar of Dibley a few years ago, but this was the first I had heard of Alice's passing. May she be eternally in God's memory.
Alice was such a sweetheart, just a lovely woman with a simple heart and Emma was a brilliant actress gone all too soon, Loved and will never be forgotten. ❤
They need to put a Blue Plaque up. In her memory remember Her, (Emma) in Shuttleworth Road, Battersea. When it's been 10 years since her passing. Never knew she just lived up the road, during the 1990s and early 2000s. For her London Address. Might have been number 51 but can't be totally sure after all this time....
So…..this is an episode of VOD is it? The comments here seem happy and admiring that the vicar is paying a quirky, “heartwarming” tribute to a fixtional character, when the real person, Emma Hayes is actually dead. There is no tribute here to the real person, just to the fictional character!
This "tribute" is very disturbing and, very depressingly, a summation of modern society. A tribute, complete with tears, for a fictional character? What about a tribute to the actress, Emma Chambers? I used to think better of Dawn French.
@craigmilner7499 And what point might that be; the point that we live in a society that grieves over the "death" of a fictional character, and one on a show that ended many years ago, yet gives no heed to the real death of the actress who created the character? In certain ways, it reminds me of a situation I experienced 30 years ago; I worked at an art museum in Atlanta, Georgia, and the manager of the department in which I worked, issued an order, I'm sorry, an "invitation" to the memorial service for her dog (I would say any fool knows not to have a 12 year old dogs ears cropped, but obviously the fool I worked for did not, and the dog died under the anesthetic). I could not attend the "funeral", due to having to work a weekend job (for which I was punished, come performance review time), but I could not escape the order, on Monday, to go to said manager's house to eat the leftovers of the food "... all my !lovely friends brought in my time of grief." Can't quite make the connection? It's called grieving as a way of getting attention, begging for pity, "poor, poor pitiful me." It has been suggested that a memorial video for Emma Chambers was due possible due to certain aspects of her life. I do not know the gossip, but I do know that there are ways to memorialize a person without wallowing in the unfortunate details. To memorialize a fictional character is shallow and insulting to the memory of Ms. Chambers.
For my father’s funeral I chose “Joyful, joyful” as the exit hymn for the service. It was not because I was joyful myself, but rather because I know that is what my father would have wanted. Emma Chambers spread joy through her acting. She spread love and laughter. Just as I know that my father would have wanted the people at his funeral to feel joy that he was finally with his Lord in heaven, I believe Dawn French knew in her heart that Emma would have wanted to bring joy to those who loved her, even while saying her last goodbye. I also sang “Amazing Grace” at my father’s funeral. Singing is the very last thing I felt like doing and it is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my entire life. But, my father loved to hear me sing. He loved having other people hear me as well. It was the very last gift I could give to him. Before starting the song, I had to control the catch in my throat much like Ms French had to do in the middle of her monologue here. To be able to go on doing something a missing loved one loved themselves is hard as heck, especially when you are still in the middle of your own grief. Kudos to Ms French for pulling it off as well as she did. I honestly cannot think of a more fitting tribute for Emma Chambers or a more loving way to announce her loss to the fans who adored her. ❤
heartbreaking it was - I miss her so much OUR ALICE.
As the late queen said the price you pay for love is grief. Rest in peace sweet Emma
You brought such joy as your character !

EMMA was a brilliant actor, barely scratched the surface. She was my favourite character in Vicar of Dibley . Missed forever beautiful soul.❤❤❤
Alice was absolutely precious. She is missed.
Steven Colbert once asked What do you think will happen when we die, Keanu Reeves?. Keanu gave it some thought and then replied ""I know that the ones who love us, will miss us."

Only Dawn French and James Fleet are left out of that brilliant, hilarious cast... they brought such joy.. May they forever be in our hearts

Sister
confused plus.
I think there was a little break of character there.
Th😮
Sorry Dawn. That doesn't help me. My God is Great. Still not helping me. How do I cope without my darling Mum?
Praying for you. RIP, RIG.
The wavering - apparently unwitting - between fact and fiction, reality and fantasy - is slightly disturbing.
So is the sick joke about cancer.

Yeah, so what's your point? Dawn is playing a fictional character giving a lovely tribute to another fictional character. Nothing more, nothing less.
@@maxwellmurdoc9256 Quite so. And those with a few brain cells can usually see the implied link to the person who played her.
Emma Chambers!
This "tribute" is very disturbing and, very depressingly, a summation of modern society. A tribute, complete with tears, for a fictional character? What about a tribute to the actress, Emma Chambers? I used to think better of Dawn French.
