I speak as an American - Vicar of Dibley was by far the best sitcom ever seen in our country, and it is millions and millions of miles ahead of anything we've done. There have been love affairs between countries and individuals: America loved Jackie Kennedy, we loved Diana, and we loved Alice too - I can't believe it's not butter.

Well written and full of memorable characters - a classic of TV. Perhaps the greatest contribution though is the wonderful reversal of roles. Up to then the part of a vicar was always written as someone not bright enough to survive in the modern world but here she is the only normal person! It also went a long way in gaining acceptance of female priests. A notable achievement for a comedy show.

Hugo Horton is still around. He’s the SECOND cast member listed in the IMDB! Why wasn’t he mentioned? Oxfordshire is not fictional. You need to do more research and get your facts straight.

This is a total bloody insult. at least get your geography right. Oxfordshire is most definitely NOT a fictional village! It is a County, that contains the city of Oxford. i know, I used to live there. I once rode my motorcycle at 110mph through the motorway cutting on the M40 that you see in the opening credits. They say ignorance is bliss, well, you must be as happy as Larry, whoever he is!

Like anything else it is all about choosing one, whereas it is the show cast who are the best, because without one you do not get that interaction that is so good.
