Getting this out a day later than intended. Regarding raiding: I have since done another full clear of normal and heroic and I have to say that ele might have a harder time competing on bosses with adds than I originally thought. Adds took a lot longer to kill on PTR and already they're getting annihilated on live. This will make it virtually impossible to ramp with spreading flame shocks/liquid mamga totem, primordial wave, and lava bursts. At least in heroic and under. Stormkeeper definitely gains some value because of this, but we simply can't compete against the specs that bring instant aoe. Also, fast kill times will skew away from ele as we simply don't have a big burst cooldown to get vaule out of during bloodlust. This should change a bit going into mythic so expect to see elemental doing better in mythic than heroic or normal. We blast on Council regardless though, so that's something.
Hearing you voice the struggle for w1 was very dignifying. Last tier I was plugging 20s/21s in w1 because I got 2set/2set and absolutely blasted with the icy hot build. This tier I was 461 with old 4p at the end of w1 and still getting beat by 447 hunters or DHs. I will say though, I got 4p going into raid last night (80ish % mastery) and it was feelin real good.
So, I play enhance and resto. I dabble in ele. What ele needs right now is a 15 sec CD on magma totem. That’s it. M+ = fun then. Yea, to be competitive, flame shock needs to be able to be on more targets. But for fun and 20s, magma totem needs to be on a 15 sec cd. Edit: and Magma Totem needs to apply flame shock to 6 targets.

I had many other players comment "What did they do to ele?!?!" and it is hurting perception as it always does of bringing them into keys. Now with 4pc online the build feels so much better and we actually do decent damage. Im hoping after seeing them get some pvp tuning that we see buffs to spenders or elsewhere soon. Mass aoe we do have issues at times depends on how pulls go and what cds are available to us and others. I did a 18 Fall with a Havoc and Aff/Demo Lock and at that level sometimes i could take the lead. BUt wouldnt hold if it went too long or we were talking 8-10 targets. But overall damage felt so much better plus you feel so much more mobile especially against the second boss.@@ridmarkgaming
Here's a little fix that I suggest: - for M+, they should make it so that you can auto-cast an Earthquake (of course, with a bit less damage) every time you cast Chain Lightning (like Retris with their Blade of Justice and Consecration) - for Raids, either make Windfury Totem baseline and make it raid-wide (not group-wide, which I still think it's stupid)... OR instead of Windfury Totem, give them raid-wide Skyfury Totem for Crit

Been unlucky and only attained 3set of the new ones, so upcoming week will put it to the test fully with the new build and I've been SO excited to play the fire build, but its taken so long to get there that I dont even feel a joy to complete the 4set just to be average again while everyone else is topping meters etc. Blizzard, why are you tormenting us?

Just felt we fell off a cliff going into the week. Was ultra depressing. And now stuff is dying so fast in heroic its hard to actually look good. Have to believe it'll get better in mythic and with more gear. Prayge.
I always thought Shaman should be given a set of totems (maybe choice nod on talent tree) that are is a weaker version of certain buffs. Then in raids, they can place whichever buff is missing. They can offer flexibility to a group and remove some of that pressure to bring a specific class. It would be nice to have someone besides a mage with an intel buff. I can remember it being that way in Cata when we placed 4 totems at a time and it was a nice role to have.

I'm just scared of having to master a new rotation next week (as far as if you can call lavaburst spam rotation). But I spotted a few pulls and bosses as if they were built specifically for fire elemental. Like 4 to 6 adds that enter slowly the area from all directions 😆. Should be a joy in pugs to be able to shred those intermissions to pieces by your own. I wish magma totem was lower cd :(. Dotting groups will be pain in the arse.
Blizz needs to give us a consistent flameshock spreader without a 1min CD and make it uncapped, for single target give us an additional effect on default flameshock, maybe that our next lightning bolt casts lavaburst or if u refresh it make a volcano underneath the target or whatever, some sort of those things. Make some talentnotes 1/1 and not 2/2, talking about the 7th row, this could us lead to a 3rd last note in the tree. When Ascendence proccs and its about to end and you are lava beaming it will stop the last cast, make it flow into just a normal chainlightning then, its so annoying. Without 4p this season you aint going high dps.
I think reducing the CD of liquid magma totem would be great. It would help a lot with AoE dmg if it is up for every pack and the playstyle would be much nicer when you don't have to spead flameshocks like an idiot and when you are done the pack is already killed. For single target they could buff elemental blast or they buff the dmg from lavaburst if it's only hitting 1 or 2 targets.

Personally I dunno about falling off a cliff in M+, but it feels like nothing changed in terms of damage. I'm still pulling 100k overall relatively consistently. Whereas it feels like other classes got better tuning
At this point in time. Im tempted to keep running 2 or 4 set from abberrus. I REALLY dislike what ive seen of the fire build gameplay & absolutely HATE the fuck that the T31 is entirely unintetactive to the class unless you focus minimum 9 talents to make it effective. Granted, i had alot more fun playing MWF and lightning rod with high haste mastery during S2 rsther than crit/haste. Sith lording is imho much more satisfying to watch than meatball turret. Outside of single target anyway lol.
The mythic plus side i really feel. Felt great in season 2 (once i got invited haha). Now the dps is harde imo to consitently put out. Sanguine in week 1 didnt make things any easier tho. Im just afraid that 4 set wont be that great for big pulls in m+ since our dmg output will be from LB and barely from out actual aoe spender. Time will tell i guess, but i think some aoe buffs couldnt hurt.
We're not being left behind, we're just super reliant on 4pc. If you can get your 4pc early next week you should be alright. I recommend doing a few lower keys in the new fire build to practice rotation and timing.
they shouldnt have made that lavaburst into tier, they should made it into a build path for raid while still focusing on lightning build for mythic+ and i'd be fine with it. i haaaaate they are focusing so heavily on prim wave for all 3 specs, its so annoying and i wish they would remove the ability and rather give shamans something new and interesting. i really miss how shamans were back in legion for all 3 specs
I am by no stretch of the imagination a top tier player but when i sim ele vs enhance, no matter how bad i want to play meatball machine it feels like the wrong call..
with the tier set being heavily tied to LB and FS, we need at least 2 things to be changed better ways to spread FS (I always wanted to have a spender that has less base damage but does mass spread FS, that can replace EQ via talent tree) remove 6 target cap of FS By class design, Ele shaman can not have burst, but we are good at keeping up stable above average damage profile. But to keep that above average damage profile, we need FS to be always applied to everyone, which is near impossible at this point especially with this season's M+ playstyle.. so yeah, we need buff, but we need more of the fundamental change in some class mechanics, cuz man it feels good to machine gun meatball but it sucks other than that
100% to your last point there. You can't really "fix" elemental with buffs. It needs fundamental change if fire builds are to work across a wider spectrum of situations.
Ele was only rough because rogue is broken dh was broken and kinda still is and hunter is broken lol all ele counters but I've enjoyed ele alot nothing comes close to your burst damage but it's still rng play style. Wish ele wasn't so casinoish like enhancement. We need like a 1 min acsendance would be nice

I've been ele for several xpacs but I've gone enhance for this raid and it feels great tbh. I only switch back to ele for the cleave on fyrakk phase 2

Effectively capped at 6 targets and no real burst to speak of. Yeah, mass aoe is not in the cards for us, even in the best case scenario, right now.
