"Therapy isn't about getting you to feel better; it's about getting you better at feeling." Dang, so true and well put.
I finished watching Arcane last night and there's definitely a lot of material to be discussed, so I'll be here for the ride!

Don't worry about people being judgmental or telling you what you are doing is wrong. I enjoyed seeing your authentic reaction to a new piece of material with little context. Tyler obviously wrote the song to evoke certain emotions and your reaction did exactly as Tyler intended.

You can tell the League of Legends players by their toxicity. Don't listen to them. They're probably like 12 and do nothing but sweat over competitive games all day.

Would honestly love an arcane reaction, there would be lots of things to discuss as there are many heavy topics. Also, when people say 'the therapist needs a therapist', they are talking about how crazy heavy arcane is. A lot of people cry to it, so dont worry.

I very much appreciated your authentic reaction to the mv and first listen.
There’s a huge difference between a reaction and an analysis. You titled your video accordingly, so if someone was expecting something different, that’s on them.

As a therapist, this series does a beautiful job of displaying loss, grief, growth, reconciliating, sense of self, identity, mental illnesses, how society can exploit them. Overall showing people are a construct of their surroundings and that no one is as simple as one encounter may paint them.
I look forward to the video

Arcane is a great show for discuss in therapy way, because there is a lot of relationships between characters, traumas, emotions and more like this. The show is full focused on each characters, on their actions and every character have a reason to do these actions. The main beauty of arcane - characters and how the writers doing their things with it (and ofc there is perfect animation, music and director work)

I just subscribed after see your video on The Line. That song is meant to do exactly what it did. Arcane as a whole is a masterclass at music integration. I listened to the first season soundtrack for ages before I finally watched the show, and every emotion I'd felt listening were only amplified perfectly by watching. It's really a wonderful peace of art, I'll be happy to come back later and see what you think of it as a whole! Looking forward to it.

I'd definitely be interested in watching a reaction to Arcane on this channel! This show has so many other incredible tracks and devastating moments, I think a reaction to the psychology of the characters would definitely be very interesting.
I think the show is about how trama affects not only individuals but entire societies

  • @Davorta

those comment who said why dont react to the song after watching the Show forget that one of the reason a Show need a soundtrack is often to ADD context and power to the plot of the show. which mean the song alone needs to be able to give general listener the meaning and emotion without any other source of imaging, text, or dialog.
and I think Arcane success is one of it, they able to create multiple song within the Show that really capture the FEELING of the scene where those song are placed.

Also I recommended you to listen to a sing by Sting - What Could Have Been. its the song that make Arcane Season 1 Ending felt so impactful. despite the song itself being so simple and short. I don't think people appreciate that song enough

subscribing SPECIFICALLY to see you react to arcane. It has quickly become my favorite piece of media and is a TRUE loveletter to art as a whole in a way that feels so real and untouched by corporate meddling that it is art in its purest form. It evokes such wonder and emotion that I personally think it is something worth studying.

Keep doing what you're doing. I actually don't like when reactors look at "what a song is supposed to mean" after as part of the recording. I rather they learn from viewers after they post the video or research on their own after, because hopefully you enjoyed it.

This said, I would love to hear your 2nd take when I song makes you continue to reflect after your initial reaction. Has the meaning changed for you? Are there moments that stand out? Not really what you read. I think twenty one pilots fans would like that. We just love to hear everything you think about our favorite band, and don't care how often you pause or how long you talk.

As Billie Eillish says in one of her songs… the internet is hungry for the meanest kind of funny and somebodies got to feed it. It’s sad but people get their kicks out of jabs, put downs and meanness. TØP’s music is all about dealing with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. The clique is amazing (except for those who aren’t) and I’ve appreciated being in some of the fan groups during the release of Clancy and this tour.

I would say that TOP fans are touched by mental health in some way since most of their songs deal with mental battles. They tend to be kind and very sympathetic to others because that’s how they’d like to be treated.

There is also the song Wasteland, by Royal and the Serpent, from the same show, which is very touching and emotional. It made me cry so much when I heard it since the way it depicts suicidal thoughts was very similar to my own experience. • @GarnetJ

The song is strong enough to stand on its own. Tyler didn’t just write it from the context of Arcane, but from a deeply personal loss. So watching the video before watching the series gave you an opportunity to experience it fully without preconceived notions and connect with it in a way most meaningful to you in the moment. But I also like the idea of watching the video again within the context of the series. That’s the power of music, it can have an impact on multiple different levels.

The fact that you were affected so emotionally the way it did to me after watching the two seasons of Arcane then yes, I believe the song can stand on its own, and it does. Thank you for showing so much vulnerability and a very healthy way of processing the emotions that came up, you could have easily edited out all of that and stayed clinical, but you didn't. It's comforting to know that the depth of feeling songs like this evoke in myself is shared in similar ways by others.

Stuart, I love that your reactions are genuine and you allow yourself to feel what you feel in the moment. I think the kind of people who don’t like others, therapist or not, showing emotions (especially men) are maybe not open to their own emotions and perhaps are afraid of letting their vulnerabilities show.
Anyway, I like first reactions best regardless because they are about what it means to the person themselves who is viewing a track, and not a reaction based on what the viewer is supposed to take away from a video prescribed by the group/artist who created it or other fans. That said, if I view a track for the first time, I then like afterwards to hear other view points to see if they tally with mine or offer an alternative perspective, or other ideas/viewpoints I haven’t considered myself.

Please don’t feel like you need to explain to us how you personally feel about a song. Music is all up for interpretation, that’s what is so great about it! People can listen to a song and not know the true meaning of it, but can still get emotional or have call backs of feelings from their previous life experiences which that song might trigger. I am a huge fan of Twenty One Pilots and have never watched the show Arcane, but still got emotional while listening to The Line because it brought back memories of when someone close to me passed away. Not to mention, the song is so beautiful and Tyler is so vulnerable when he sings it’s hard not to feel that way. You react to songs, that’s why you have a reaction channel and I love that you truly experience the song and are not afraid to show how it really makes you feel!! I watch reactions because I love to see how music affects people and how their interpretation of a song might be different than mine and I think you do a wonderful job at that 😊

I don't know if you've ever checked it out before or not. I tried searching and couldn't find anything about it on your channel, but I would recommend checking out Twenty One Pilots' cover of MCR's song Cancer. Emotionally, it's on the same level as The Line, and when I first found it, I'd just lost my mom to leukemia. It took me 6 tries to get through it completely because of that.

The show just adds layers and context, and makes us appreciate the songs more. It was interesting to have the perspective of someone without knowledge of the show! If you do end up watching Arcane and reacting to it, it will be interesting to see you watch the song in the context of the show!

Your comment about how you react on your previous reaction was very interesting. I am on my own journey of dealing with my feelings and yesterday I was in a enneagram session (it's my second time doing it from the start and so it was nothing new) yet I had a pretty big reaction to something where I didn't react the first time. But anyway I let the emotion come and go and I'm mostly fine about it now but that also make me feel that I may be on the right path lol it's great to have therapist reacting to things and showing us how they process those feelings as well. I can't wait to see you react to the show or anything else really

1:46 when you watch only first three episodes of arcane season 1 you will understand this. 99% of audience end with the soul and heart shattered in 1000 pieces... imagine the power of the season 2 (the song you react belongs to this season)
Im suscribe to see your reactions and analisys as a terapist
5:23 the song is a little piece of Arcane, theres a lot of things you can react from the season one. In that case i propose you react to the season 1 only (theres much to see and analyse here) if you like it, you continue to season 2
18 episodes in total i think 9 per season.

Dude really watched your blind reaction video and was like "Why blind reaction, why you not know everything prior to making content?" I love blind reactions, reactions to something in context are enjoyable to watch too, but not everything has to be one or the other. Tyler made a masterpiece, it was entertaining watching your reaction to The Line as well as your reaction to Tyler's artist statement, it would be neat to see your reaction to other Arcane-related stuff like either the episodes or the other songs in the show (they're all really good) like Wasteland by Royal and the Serpent or Guns for Hire by Woodkid.

I think direct context can be transformative in a big way. I believe that yes, a song should absolutely be able to stand on its own merit, but also that it is possible for it to be further enhanced through additional context.
To continue with an Arcane example, there's a song "Remember Me" by d4vd. On its own, prior to watching the show, I thought it was a well composed track, but not to my typical music tastes. It didn't really elicit a response from me, other than, that isn't offensive to my ears. After watching the show, and gaining the direct context intended in the sequence it was used in, the song absolutely devastates me when I listen to it now.

Absolutely a song should strand on it's own and I think The Line does.
I am also a firm believer that a song can have a meaning that is unique to an individual listener. Perhaps mostly because Tyler's has expressed that R3he intentionally writes songs in a way that they ARE open to interpretation, so the listener can fill the song with their own meaning, allowing the song to be what the listener needs it to be.

Re: The therapist needs a therapist. I'm reminded of the proverb "Physician, heal thyself." This wording comes from Luke 4:23, but there are older versions dating back centuries BCE. It is usually interpreted to be a criticism of hypocrisy, meaning one should address one's own defects before criticizing others for theirs. But I also see a more positive spin, a reminder that even the most devoted caregivers should be mindful to tend to their own needs as well. Doctors can't treat their own ailments, after all. Disaster aid workers must reserve time and energy for their own lives, instead of giving it all away, no matter how nobly. And many therapists do, in fact, have a therapist. Practice self care too.

You said you understand the sentiment of the person not understanding how you can react to a song and know nothing about the context. I don't.
I don't understand, why your reaction to a song should be different to other peoples reaction to music. We are surrounded by music - in soundtracks, on our spotify playlists, the radio, etc. And music always has a way to connect with all your senses and emotions if you let it, especially if you're prepared to let it. I can't imagine anyone who has ever listened to a song actually making the effort and finding out the exact context behind it to every single song they want to listen to. They listen, they react. Why should it be different for you? You just happen to sit in front of a camera while you do it.
That reaction video to The Line was the first i watched from you and you have my subscription.
I would definitely looking forward to a reaction to Arcane. It is a masterpiece on so many levels and that is very very rare. If you ever watch it, please pay attention to the world- , especially societybuilding as well. Lots of issues that could exist there (compared with our world) just don't, because there's no ground for them to be issues in the first place.
Love your way of communicating btw., feels relatable and calming.

I loved seeing you react to the song, knowing nothing about the show. It would be cool to see reactions to each music video from the soundtrack, then a revisit video after you've watched the entire series. Both seasons 1 and 2 have amazing soundtracks with an awesome variety of emotional and upbeat music that would be cool to see those blind reactions to. I'd really love to see reactions for Wasteland by Royal and The Serpent and Cocktail Molotov by ZAND, both off the season 2 soundtrack.

If you are not sure of how to edit your reaction to Arcane, you can just try uploading the Vidyard as is, and just have a link in the description of the video on RUclips with commentary before/after. Normally if you decide to edit it you should be fine if you keep 20% of the original on the screen, and most creators play safe by shading the screen with the series and muting some of the songs because some get copyrighted. (I am not an expert though, so please don't just base your editing off of this comment, I am just throwing some ideas. )Either way, thank you for considering reacting to it!
About the comments, I think your feeling about it is valid, and there is nothing wrong with feeling the way you feel - people tend to get overly ignorant and insensitive online, but I hope they didn't mean anything bad and it didn't offend you.
Your reactions are great and it was a really interesting video to watch! Thank you so much

In regard to copywright all I have to go off of is other channels that have reacted to arcane. Far as I can tell there are 2 ways of doing it. Cut the episode down to about half the time of the original in editing so like 20 minutes of the actuall content gets reveiwed, with things being commented on. Or ive seen others pause after almost every scene and analyse/break it down leading to recording sessions that take in general 2-3 hours an episode. All the music in the show is made specifically for the show but there are issues with copywrite there but as long as your pausing to comment and analyse while the music is going. it seems to work out fine.
For me I'm particualarly fond of the longer style of videos. Psyculturists is as far as I can tell the only other mental health professional that has reacted to arcane in this format before if you wanted to check out his first episode reaction as reference, After recording the episode yourself of course.

The one jack guy was just gatekeeping. Mad fans will gatekeep, that's what they do. The song is beautiful and shouldn't need you to watch two seasons of a show for context. But if you DO watch the show, do it because you want to and not because some schmuck on the internet had strong opinions about it.
Even after watching the show, your interpretation was on point. It made me think of my great-grandma on her deathbed from cancer, refusing to go through chemo because she didn't want to be seen with tubes in her in her last moments.

i don't know why some people are hating, he has hit the meaning of everything on the top of the head. im not sure Jack is a fan or else her would know that twenty one pilots and tyler in general wuld never write a song for a show or movie that didn't aline with his story. just like heathens in suicide squad he said the song was inspired by the fans which is the only reason he was able to put on out for suicide squad.
ANYWAYYY, your doing great. don't listen to these people

I'm going to say watch the first three episodes, which represent act one of season one. In my experience the first two episodes are interesting but don't lock you in to the true theme of the series (I dropped the series for months after episode two, thinking I knew what the series was going to be, but after finally finishing episode three I was like 'Oh. Oooooh." And I had another friend go through the same process).
The largest time skip in the show is between episodes three and four.

im curious how copyright works when you do these reaction vids. are you able to monetize them when you react to whole songs?

    • @TherapistReactsOfficial
      @TherapistReactsOfficial  6 дней назад +3

Nope. The channel makes next to nothing as the copyright holders get all the ad revenue. Sometimes they don’t even let the video go up at all and give the channel a strike (in which case they get no revenue so it doesn’t make any sense!)

    • @AdamEdward

    • @TherapistReactsOfficial
      @TherapistReactsOfficial  5 дней назад +1

Thanks. To be honest I hope to drive people to my therapy channel as I get the ad revenue from those videos. But I enjoy this, and it seems to help people in some way. Just got to be careful as if you get 3 copyright strikes you lose the channel, AND all other channels that you own and can never have another one!

Since you're going to react to Arcane, just want to tell you it is a show that needs to be paused or even rewinded to see details related to the plot! Many reacting videos are afraid to pause but I think you can only really see the beauty of Arcane if you pause and let the emotions flow.

  • @ahausch1
    @ahausch1 5 дней назад

You should try watching it 3 episodes per sitting. They were released 3 episodes, one Act at a time. You'll also get into it better that way i think AND i believe your videos will get more views that way, even though there won't be as many.

I’ve never watched Arcane and don’t plan to. I’m not an anime fan. That being said, that comment the guy wrote is ridiculous!! You don’t need to know a series to enjoy or listen to a song. The song has much more to do with his grandmother than the show imo … loved your real emotion.

@liralira9222 I tried some analysis videos before without the track (from blurry face) and unfortunately they don’t perform well (views in the 100s) so I decided to stop doing them that way.
