2nd item is a water pitcher and 3rd is a brides or cake basket. Both are possibly made by Meridan Britannia who was a very popular silver plate company. I have the same cake basket! Be sure to check the markings underneath.
Tell Kim to put the lounge couch in her sewing room I think that is a perfect spot for it and a great place to relax after sewing all those curtains for the house. Kathy TN..
Forgive me if I repeat what someone else already wrote. The metal piece is a watch fob. To counterbalance a pocket watch in the vest. You’ll have to get a dandy wind up watch for your fob and fancy suit. The old 1910 farm house we lived in most likely had lead paint. Didn’t know about lead precautions then. Sanded so much wood siding. Glad you’re taking care of your health Bless you both. So much fun to watch the program.
The silver basket with the handle is called a bridal basket. They were given to brides at their wedding to use for fruit, candy, nuts etc at the wedding dinner or breakfast ...what we would call a reception now
The stains and wood dings and worn fabric is a part of an antique items story. They all have stories and history so if you can’t get the stains out of the marble, it’s ok, it’s a part of the story and charm that each item has. 😊
The GE Monitor Top fridge is awesome and in such wonderful shape.... I have a 1935 GE in my kitchen and it runs like the day it was new......MY gas range is a 1927 Glenwood Our Way made in Taunton Ma. They just don't make things the way they used to....They were made to last and stand the test of time....
How nice of you to take the time to help Weston out with their questions Kaleb. You’ve collected a lot of fantastic things, it is wonderful to see people wanting to share with you. Have a great weekend!
I'm blinded by all the beauty! All really lovely contributions. I especially liked the photo sent by Mark of his grandparents, with his grandfather wearing the cool piece of "man jewelry". I love that kind of personalized history.
As a child in the 60's my family rented a little house on a ranch and there was a fridge similar to yours in the house. I can picture, in my mind, the bologna, milk and mayo in that fridge! Brought back some memories! So many beautiful things yes, but for me, I just love that fridge!

I think it’s wonderful of all those people giving or donating so many wonderful items. It’s awesome! Love that old refrigerator now that’s so cool. As I’m getting to know you more n more I know it will definitely be used. I’ve missed a few of you videos. I am so glad I watched this video as My Son and I are redecorating and stripping the wood work down. I hadn’t thought about the lead paint that could be under the years of paint layers. I have ordered a testing kit that will arrive tomorrow 👌🏼
Fun fact about fainting couches. Well, might be fact might be fiction. I was watching a home tour given by a state ranger of an old plantation home in the south (it's an addiction I'm seeking help) and she was showing a fainting couch. To paraphrase her: people called them fainting couches because supposedly the women wore corsets tied so tight they fainted. First mistake, most women of the time didn't wear corsets because their clothes were home made and made to fit them, second mistake they didn't tie them any tighter than need be. Then what if they did need to faint, were they going to walk across the room to do so? Nope, the "fainting couch" has actually been around longer than that and it was for napping. Evidently (according to her) after the bed was made you weren't supposed to get in it again until bed time, thus if you wanted to take a nap, you needed somewhere to do it. Hence, the napping couch which was used by men and women. I haven't done any research to discover if this is true or not but she seemed pretty sure about it. She even called out her fellow guides for calling it a fainting couch.
There’s a misunderstanding about corsets. Some women did wear them so tightly, they did themselves physical harm but that’s because some people always overdo things. You weren’t supposed to wear them like that and most women had a more sensible approach. Saying that all nineteenth century women were damaging themselves with corsets and that’s why corsets were bad is like saying all women of the 1990s were damaging their ankles by wearing stilettos with every outfit or tanning themselves until they got skin cancer. It did happen but it wasn’t the norm.
In the south they are fainting couches. Let it get to 90°in heavy hot dresses and restrict your breathing. Plus fainting couch is so much more Scarlett than y'all would never understand. Like here women don't sweat. We glisten lol. Does it really matter at the end of the day whay your lady said? It's all in fun anyway these days. No self respecting southern belle would be caught napping. Come on y'all lol
Loved your road show! I’ve successfully drawn stains out of Carrara marble by applying a poultice made from calcium carbonate mixed with water, covered in plastic wrap to keep it wet, and left to do its work overnight.
I love your Antique's road show segment! I also love that not all of your items are bought and are given to you because now you can tell the story that goes with them and the stories of the items will continue to get pasted down.
Ha thats awesome. Its a really neat little piece. I think all of these amazing little items will add up and create so many interesting details to look at. Not to mention so many of them have such wonderful stories attached to them.
you are going to have a house full of antiques before you guys even move in.... thank you so much for the card I got in the mail this week... Looking forward to seeing more progress on the house. hope you guys are staying warm there... its been in the teens and twenties here... Brrrrr! HUGS to you both from me and Major! cool you got you family name in a book! interesting that the browns and the higgins got used in a story.... Stay safe and see you in the next video!
Lovely gifts! I think the third gift from Gina may be a wedding basket. It can be placed on a buffet or dining room table filled with fruit. All the gifts are wonderful! Thank you for sharing!
Caleb, the coffee pot should be pre heated with hot water before adding tea or coffee. Let the hot water sit in it for 10 minutes or more. This will keep the tea or coffee hotter longer.
Kim and your home is the perfect place for all these folks treasures. We all know you will treasure them and display them with love. Your home is like a living museum 💜. I can’t wait until you are open and ready for guests.
I forgot to paragraph the following: I am looking forward to you instaling lath and plaster to the ceiling(s), that is one tough and taxing job. I suggest you put in staging and plaster from it, it is just too easy to - just one more reach- while standing on a ladder or using plasterer's stilts. You will probably need someone else to mix and send up the plaster to where you are working on the ceiling. The biggest hastle with lath is the spacing, then alternately angle the nails if you use them to attach the lath. You may have to think or believe that you are Michelangelo painting the Sistene Chapel. He did not paint it with a paint-roller.
You deserve all those gifts because they will live a second youth in your stunning house. She is a Lady. You and your wife are pretty special and that's awesome. Cheers from France!

I just wanted to let you know that “Higginses” is an appropriate way to refer to, well, more than one Higgins 😜. So it could be the Higgins family or “The Higginses and the Browns and the Joneses (or Jones family) are coming for dinner.” Hope this makes sense. Can’t wait for the next video… I love watching your and Kim’s projects!
Calib. It is so nice when you get things for free and know that you appreciate these items and will use them in the house. As for the refrigerator. The first time I saw one like that was on the show called " the waltons"
Great stuff! Love the Kaleb tip time. Maybe something for the future you could invite viewers to submit renovation questions for you for a video. Not that you don't do a great job explaining what you're doing while you're doing it. Thanks for the bonus video made my Friday for sure
I don't mind that this was a bit Antiques Roadshow like. It just made me think of one of my favorite Frasier episodes when Frasier, Niles, and their dad Martin realized they all liked Antiques Roadshow and they made a drinking game with how many times the word 'veneer' was said on the show. Anyways, thanks for showing us all your neat stuff.
G’day Caleb love your vids & yes they are called a cutthroat razors as well as straight razor, you will never get a better closer shave than you will get with a cutthroat !!
More antiques Roadshow videos please 😁 Here in Australia we call them cut throats too and use them in hairdressing. I remember training with mine on a balloon. It was hilarious watching all of us apprentices cut the balloons covered in shaving creme 🤣🤣 There is a special tool that can remove lead paint safely. It's on Amazon i think for people who want to order it. Lead paint won't vaporise at lower temps and this "heat gun" is designed for that or if you get a heat gun that has multiple heat settings, I have one. It's completely safe albeit slightly on the pricey side 😊
We had a iron antique parlor stove that was converted into gas. It had bricks inside that had been chipped into round chunks and those glowed thru the isinglass and looked like coals. They also contributed to the heat. I wish I still had that stove it heated the entire house better than anything I have had since. Besides it was beautiful.
I have that book by Clarence Day Jr, but I haven't gotten to that story yet! I just picked it up at a used book store! I love the movie Life with Father, that's why I picked up the book. I had no idea it had such a connection to this channel I watch every week!

You need a 1880's to 1900 pocket watch to get in the spirit of the house. I actually use vintage pocket watches a lot day to day. It is easier to keep a pocket watch in your pocket watch pocket in your jeans sometimes then it is to wear a wrist watch. When doing house repairs or visiting the local junk yard for car parts and need to keep track of the time, it is much easier to take a pocket watch over carrying the cell phone (it gets left in the car or in a safe place at home) or wearing a wrist watch (which could cause your arm to get stuck)
Very cool stuff! You can go to a homewrecker store and get an appropriate mantel. Sorry- but that was the name of and architectural salvage place in my town! Love watching your progress! Thanks!

People are so kind!
Great items.
Very cool stuff! You can go to a homewrecker store and get an appropriate mantel. Sorry- but that was the name of and architectural salvage place in my town! Love watching your progress! Thanks!
