GT3 all day long. But in truth I would rather have a GT3touring, the ride is nasty in a GT3, only been in the 991.1 model but my god it is harsh.

    • @TRX25EX
      @TRX25EX 2 года назад +55

I would say GT4RS, reason is it's the more special car, a recipe we have been asking Porsche for decades to do it, a GT3 engine in a mid engine Cayman!!!!
Also what is special about this car it's one of best sounding cars from inside (there's no regulations inside) but outside there's regulations that hurts both of these...
Big question will be this or GT3RS and to me I will already say GT3RS for how crazy it will be!

Thank you all for watching - it was certainly one of the best but busiest road trips I’ve ever done. Trying to visit plenty of locations, film them and get the mileage done in such a short space of time was quite the challenge (hence looking a little knackered in the museum!).
Those of you that have pointed out that this was was on the aluminium not magnesium wheels and aluminium not titanium cage are absolutely right - mea culpa. I hate getting things wrong, but at least it means the ride is fabulous even without the lightest rims!
Anyway, please do subscribe to the channel etc if you haven’t already - it really does help. Thank you.

      Henry, you did it again.
Your 991.2 T review made me to buy one. Still got it and love it to the bone. Then the 718 GT4 video got me to the point to buy one for the track. Ok, meanwhile it's upgraded to a GT4MR. And now this. Man, i wasn't realy convinced with the order i placed for the GT4RS end of last year. The look doesn't grow on me and i heard and saw the car two weeks ago IRL at the ring and was - to be honest - truly disappointed about it.
After that smile after the launch i'm want that car so bad. 9 months to go.
Your reviews are truly the best out there. Thumbs up!

Brilliant scoop getting to take the RS back to Germany, because even Andreas Preuninger said the GT4RS was not the sort of car you would choose to drive "from London to Liverpool." But, you drove even FURTHER and helped people like me understand what the seats and chassis and everything else would be like on an extended trip. The fact you said you would do it all over again was an endorsement. You even fitted in a 0-100 kmph test, realising 3.2 instead of Porsche claimed 3.4 secs (or did you do 0-60 mph which is very slightly shorter?). The standard wheels on this RS are IMO the best looking wheels Porsche have done, and certainly better than the expensive optional magnesium wheels. Great review and a great car, one that will put a smile on many faces, even if few can ever drive it.

Seems like it will be another great GT car from Porsche. However, very few will be able to get one, even if they can afford it. In the US, the bulls**t games that dealers play with lists and markups ($100k over sticker is normal for a GT3) will just make it nearly impossible, despite Porsche claiming "anyone who wants one will be able to order one". Sorry, just doesn't happen. The dealers will burn their allocations on their own floor models, charge 50-100% more, and make you think they are doing you a favor.
    Sad times.

      Yes good point on that.
Even for people who want them to drive, how many will actually take them to track days that much? Most track days are full of Caterhams, Elises, modified MX5 / Fiesta ST etc, these RS Porsches used to be there more but are people worrying about resale value even if not flipping them.
A victim of its own success? Great engineering though.

Would I have one? Hell yeah... I mean a GT4 RS, but a Henry Catchpole would be good to chat with over a few beers. But that GT4 RS has so much more emotional depth. 😊

I've never been the biggest fan of the Cayman line, but with that gem of an engine in this GT4 RS, wow! Ringing out of the revs with such ease immediately brought back memories of the 'ultimate response' RB26 engine from the late 90s. Great feature, guys!

The Cayman has always been underrated. Just drive a 2005-6 Cayman S in good condition and tell me you don’t enjoy it. Mid-engine placement; great steering, control, brakes, you name it. Does it have 700 bhp? No. Does it matter. Absolutely not..

As ever, a great review from Carfection and adding to the almost universal praise for the GT4 RS, which is clearly a great car. What frustrates me, however, is no one reviewing the car (including Henry) outlines what the actual buying experience will be if you want to get hold of one.
Let’s be clear - in the UK at the very least, Porsche will allocate these limited editions in extremely low numbers to their dealership who will in turn hand-pick who gets to buy one. This will mostly not be on the basis of brand loyalty, those who would most enjoy driving the car etc. but on the basis that the car is driven for 500/1000 miles and then sold back to the dealership for a very tidy profit. The dealership will then advertise the car for a significant price way above list, so the price of the car on the Porsche website is to all intents and purposes meaningless. And this is the process in normal times - couple this with the production problems being experienced at the moment and I would expect lead times to be pretty long and cars to be in even shorter supply.
So, reviews like this as good as they are only add to the pent-up demand and serve to inflate the prices dealers can ask for the cars in flipping them. Whilst I would expect this not be called out by the fan-boy RUclipsrs, I would have thought that a proper motoring journalist like Henry would at least mention it in passing. This practice (and I know Porsche are not alone in it) needs to be called out or else it will never change and Porsche enthusiasts will continue to be deeply frustrated that they can never get their hands on one of these cars to use them as they were intended (like Henry) without having to pay ridiculous amounts on top of what is already an expensive car.
A 1st world problem I know and probably irrelevant given what else is going on in the world right now, but a problem nevertheless.

Just wanted to say what a brilliant reviewer you are, the cinematography and music is fantastic as well. Just a note, and I imagine you are well aware of this now but those wheels aren’t the magnesium ones, they are the standard forged aluminium.
