- One of the defendants in a 2016 mass murder of an Ohio is due in court for a hearing on Tuesday. The proceedings in this hearing are for Edward “Jake” Wagner
The Law&Crime Network’s Angenette Levy was there in person.
The sprawling case has almost as many defendants as it does victims. Eight members of the Rhoden family were killed on April 22, 2016, in three trailers and one camper. Autopsy results described particularly brutal methods, with all but one victim sustaining multiple gunshots to the head.

Months later, authorities announced the arrests of four people, one of whom had a close connection with Hannah May Rhoden. Jake Wagner, who is the father of her daughter, was arrested for murder with his parents George Wagner III and Angela Wagner, and his brother George Wagner IV. George III’s mother Fredericka Wagner and Angela Wagner’s mother Rita Newcomb were also charged with allegedly participating in a cover up.
It was revealed in a WLWT report Hannah Rhoden and Jake Wagner broke up months before the murders. Mere days after the killings, Wagner filed for custody of the daughter. He formally obtained this on the following June 16.
Newcomb pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of obstruction in December 2019, saying she could not lie anymore. The previous June, prosecutors dropped charges against Fredericka Wagner, who insisted on her innocence.

@Carielynn 330 Thats always super confusing to me, but i mean they found people to serve on the jury for the OJ trial, so there is never a shortage of people living under rocks.

They didn’t seem to care about moving the George Floyd trial out of Minneapolis, which I suggest has exponential ramifications on both outcome and community. It’s like they just don’t even care anymore about special procedures that were created for actual, tangible concerns. It’s insane in any cases.

I remember when this family was originally charged and arrested the attorney speaking and answering media questions that day said it would probably take 5 years before the trials would take place.....the way this is heading it sounds like 5 years is about right. Smh 🤦

When defense attorneys have a real uphill battle, they resort to putting extra attention to technicalities as a way to get their client off. And in this case, with their entire (from grannies on down) family on trial, i'm sure there are lots of ways to confuse things and delay. Eventually, though, the judge can move things along - he just has to be sure that his decision won't cause a basis for appeal.
The longer the better. Hopefully some witness dies. Lol.

Yeah, gives time for people’s memories to get cloudy “I don’t recall”, and even for others to die off, like the guilty granny. But it cuts both ways, as the prosecution builds a bulletproof case. I don’t recommend this move when you’re guilty.
Anyone else feel guilty for liking videos that have stories like this? I do because I realize the work that goes into making videos 🤷🏻♂️
What truly makes me sick is Jake will have women, and who knows perhaps men, writing to him in prison and sending him money. He will adapt, probably get married a d be quite comfortable there. Poor Hannah and her family are wiped out.

Waste of time when everyone’s wearing masks, it’s hard enough to understand their accents at the best of times let alone muffled in a mask, safe distance and no one need wear a mask especially the judge, there’s no reason he should be wearing a mask, no one is 4-5mts from him...
This trial is boring. Sounds like it would be captivating like others have been. But the judge makes it incredibly difficult (for me at least) to stay interested. The Darell Brooks trial however? 👌I was glued to my screen!🤷🤣

The point was that one of the attorney's sitting at the table was holding his mask over his face instead of having it attached to him. The cameraman kept zooming in on the guy as if he were trying to make a point out of it. It's just one more symptom of how far down the scales we have fallen in such a short time that we have to shame people.
