“I should note…I didn’t tell you this.” Honey, you’ve had 6 years…4 years since the arrest. You should know this word for word. This is horrendous to listen to.
Perfectly said 🙌🏻
It would be nice for her to be informed - she can't work on fixing a problem she is not aware of - I think her co-workers should say something - if it were me I would appreciate someone being honest and making me aware I sounded that bad but I'm not gonna sit her and act as if public speaking is easy for everyone cuz I know for a fact it is not ...
The "ummm" and "uhhhhh" vocabulary of this lawyer is atrocious
Seriously, has she ever done this before?
Nope it's her FIRST time !
This is the worst opening statement I've ever heard, especially on such a high profile case. She honestly comes across as completely unprepared and her opening statement is an incoherent, disjointed and rambling mess. That is unacceptable considering how long they have had to prepare for this. What an utter embarassment.
It's a slam dunk. They put the rookie up to get her feet wet.
i agree
Maybe should take some lessons from William Brown, Halderson case.
That’s exactly what I was thinking! The “umm’s” and “ahh’s” are painful to listen to! I’m embarrassed for her quite frankly, she is so difficult to listen to! Even the Judge looks bored!!
Umm ummm ummmm just stop it lady please
I thought Chris Watts repeating the word “like” was annoying….now “um” has topped Chris…..
I made a very conscious attempt to never say the word "like" (in that context), again after listening to Chris Watts. 😛🤐🙄
Wow. I hope someone else from the DAs office takes over. Her inability to go one sentence without saying um is completely distracting.
Right ? I can’t even watch it because of her and her ummmmms
I agree. Between the multiple "umms" and lip smacking I'm having a very hard time listening to her speak...
@@Clarebearz Calm down. Everything will be alright
No doubt!!
@@Mr-Angelo0U812 yeah it gets easier to listen to
Prosecutor’s opening..”um. Um. Uuhhhmmmm. Uh. Um.”
Is this the best they’ve got? She’s putting the jurors to sleep on day 1.
This opening statement was supposed to be helpful to understand such a complicated case. She made a mess explaining the victims and their relationship, not to talk about the crime scenes. I would be soooo confused if I were a juror. Uhmmmm uhmmmm
Someone failed public speaking in college.
In 18 minutes and 50 seconds this prosecutor said um 164 times! I may have even missed a few!
Kudos to you for counting the ums! I find that I cannot stand to listen to anyone injecting um in any type of speech. Lately people of all ages and stations in life have lost my ear when they talk. Enuff!!
@@insertnamehere313 lmao lololo haha yup!!! uuuummmmm NOOOO MORE!!!
This is excruciating to listen to
She learned a new sentence " can you tell me" geesh she sucks
I believe the judge is biased in this case and should have been removed.
The judge was totally on the defenses side
The Whole Family of Wagoner's involved should have received life in prison with No Parole. A few should have received the death penalty, like Anyone else who has done anything close to this Horrible crime
"And, um, she processes that kind of stuff" ... yikes, I hope this prosecution gets it together.
The other attorneys for the prosecution are probably ready to scream at her to stop saying ‘um, um, um,ummmm’!! Hopefully, they let her know how distracting and annoying it was!!!
Makes her look incompetent
@@denab1767 Exactly! It makes her look super unprepared. And she's had years to work on it.
I can't agree more, I compare it to people saying "like" every other sentence .
They taught us in grade school and middle school not to do that, in order to prepare us for when we needed to give presentations. This woman is too old to be speaking like this, unless she has some sort of speech issue.
OMG it's driving me crazy 😂
Not one sentence without the word “um”. Not one.
or “you know”
The American Bar Association recommends opening statements be no longer than thirty minutes! She is horrible.
"They can tell, um, from the angles of the holes and stuff." Wow. What an unprofessional presentation.
She is uhm terrible uhm at her job of uhm opening statements and it has to be distracting to the jury and the overall seriousness of this case.
I umm agree umm with you umm you umm sonofabeech
😂👏👏👏
Uhm I agree with you uhm
I really want to watch this trial but if this lady runs the prosecution I'll sleep through the whole thing.
Um u should wake up. Um
Ummmmm
She's smart and great at her job and I'm particularly impressed with how kind and gentle she is with all the witnesses, but yes, she needs to work on the ums and quit pronouncing "and" as "eee-und."
Boo Hoo, grab some adult attention span. Real life isn't Netflix glitz.
Lol.. I thought it was just me.
I can't listen, because of all the ums. Once you start listening for them, it is torture.
Jeezuz, this is excruciating to listen to. It's like she lost her real notes and had to throw her statement together on the fly this morning. I seriously hope this isn't the best they have to offer.
Constantly saying um is completely distracting and annoying unprofessional, plus she fades in and out at times
Take a drink everytime she says UMM....
Right?! How does she not realize how distracting that is
I was drunk in ten minutes!! Moonshine Jell-O shots!
I’d have to slow the video down I wouldn’t be able to pour drinks fast enough.
@@yannii52 🤣🤣🤣OK then don't pour shots, just take swigs straight from the bottle.
Seriously. I had to stop watching because of how often she said 'Ummm." Every 3-4 words it seemed. She had the information to relay but she had no clear method of orchestrating the delivery of it.
I find it hard to listen to this prosecutor speak when every few words she says um. You would think that someone who went to college and law school would know how to speak properly. She has the facts on her side but her delivery is ridiculous.
Calm down Karen & eat a Snickers candy bar
I was thinking the same thing! Hard to listen to
Shellie Frazier, It's a college drinking game. Every time she says UM, you take a drink...
You shouldn't judge until You can do her job better. I doubt that you would be able to because you are not as intelligent or as educated as she is. Even with her saying UM too often, she did a great job.
Psychopaths are more likely to use filler words and sounds, like "uh" and "um." While many people use such sounds to avoid an awkward silence, researchers suspect psychopaths use them in an effort to appear sane.
Holy moly lady! Is this her first case or what? Not a good start
Um, um! So frustrating to hear this from an educated person!
This prosecutor is carrying an enormous weight of responsibility. There are so many witnesses, so many ways to try
to communicate and sympathize with those who were traumatized and get the info she needs from them, so many details, and she is very compassionate with them. May justice be served to anyone who participated in their deaths. Death penalty is what they gave innocent people due their own selfishness. Why should they get less?
" we found a thousand text messages, well that's an exaggeration, there were more than a thousand"..... well, then you didn't exaggerate, you understated.
Ummm... i am not ummm prepared for this ummm case. I ummm, so (smacks lips) ummm... And ummm... Imagine the court reporter having to take down all the ummm's!
I couldnt even finish watching
This attorney needs to listen to herself..uuuummmmmmmmmmmmmm
“Back to the shoe print STUFF”. Omg
This prosecutor is going to lose a very winnable case, what a disgrace.
Not a very winnable case 🤡
How unprofessional are lawyers when speaking about arms and munitions. Wtf is a 7.69x32?
that's the round that a S.K.S. or the A.K.47 fires.
It takes a true monster to commit such atrocities. They have no humanity as they’re simply not human. This is why we shouldn’t totally get rid of the death penalty.
What species is he? If not human
Oh they’re human. Humans are capable of extremely heinous and loving acts. Depends on circumstances. Glad they are being held accountable.
@Hobby Jim "This is why we shouldn’t totally get rid of the death penalty."
You are basing this on your emotions. If it is revolting, shocking or outrageous enough to you, you would recommend death.
If it seems "ordinary" to you e.g. just two killed in a robbery attempt, you would go for imprisonment even though the criminal took people's lives which is the exact same crime.
The true monster is Jake.
@@geoh7777 I respectfully disagree. There are circumstances when the crime is so egregious the perps deserve nothing but the DP. Comparing a "robbery attempt" where 2 people are killed is completely different than one family that annihilated another (planned for many months) even leaving small children with the decedent's overnight because of a perceived custody battle.
If this woman says "Um" one more time... What a horrible communicator. If I was a juror, I would've already tuned her out, If possible. My God, isn't there anyone else on this team that can tell a more compelling story?
“Um” uh “um” uh “Um” uh “um” jeez!!
Um, um, um, um, um, um, um, um... She needs to learn how to speak without all those "Um"s. Totally distracting, annoying, and unprofessional.
I wasn’t able to focus on anything she said smh She just needs to sit this trial out and take notes lol
Worst opening statement by any prosecutor I've ever seen. No ability to tell a coherent story bit she's actually testifying for each and every witness to come. She's either inexperienced unprepared or both. I've followed every moment of this massacre from the start and she confused even me 😂
SAME!!! She has had literally years to work on this case and this was the best she could do? Not impressed! I'm hoping it is just because all of the media there is making her nervous and she will overcome. But 100% worst opening statement I have seen.
I’ve kept up with this case since it happened and was looking forward to trial but she really was the worst I’ve ever seen. She went through every tiny detail and it was truly painful to watch. I hope it gets better or we’ll be here until 2023
For such a big profile case, the prosecutor needs to talk more professionally to the jury. I am shocked
She's doing fine um.
Lol, um
Spit it out woman!!!
If you had to take a drink every time she says " UM" you ' d be drunk before the end of her statement !!! LOL
Not if you were from Pike County that'd just be your breakfast that you'd finish off with a good snort of fentynal and a couple blasts from your meth pipe
You'll be in the hospital 🤣 in out 10min in enough umm for me today
😂😂
You wouldn’t be drunk, you’d be dead! She’s awful!
DA needs to take public speaking leasons
Why I came to comment. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many ums. Makes listening tedious.
@@wendybutler1681 well it is very rural Ohio
But she is not good at it at all
I live approximately 30 minutes from Waverly. First, let me say that I think the district attorney is doing just fine. The region where this crime occurred is located in a very rural area known as Piketon. Waverly is not so rural and the two cities are not the same. Yes, it is Pike county but the two cities are vastly different. I think if I had to present such horrific information (especially on national television) I would have some nervous “ums” as well. Before you are so critical of others perhaps you should learn how to spell the word lessons. Isn’t this case bad enough? Apparently it’s just fun to critique people that you don’t even know. Just my observation and opinion.
Such a tragedy.. heartbreaking
I agree that the state prosecutor is delivering a lack-luster performance here; let’s hope the jury is able to follow along with this mish-mash opening…I’ve been waiting to watch this for a few years now-aye yay yay…the seriousness of these offenses are diminished by a stodgy vocabulary and no inflection in her speech. Less than powerful delivery is so disappointing!
I feel sorry for the jurors who had to sit through this opening. I couldn't get through the whole thing. The umms were unbearable and very distracting. Geez.
Ummmm, where did she go to, ummm, law school?
UMM UNIVERSITY...off of like street
😂😂😂😂😂🤪
Umm, *smacks lips* … mail order?
If i didn't read a little about this case, i would not even know this was even that serious of the case. I think she is talking about everyone but the victims and the actual crime committed! I can't even follow along
Seems like this prosecutor has to prepare for a trial as she has a few pages, But she is not doing a great job with even her notes! Very confusing and distracting with the UMMMMMS!!! I pray for that jury!
Halfway through the opening statement, I became distracted by all the UMMMMMMS. I didn't hear anything after that and instead watched to see how many times she says UM.
She's totally unprepared, I hope she's better in closing arguments.
To much info for opening statement. Let's get to the witnesses please.
I really wish this prosecutor was more fluent with her words. Spoke with more conviction
This prosecutor is terrible. It’s like she’s making it up as she goes along rather than being prepared and having a solid opening.
She loves the sound of her ummm voice. Those poor lawyers
NOOOO, SHUT UP. somebody slip her a umm note. GAWD!!
This is THE WORST prosecutor I have ever heard!! Is this the best that they have ?! 🤦♀️ “ummm ,..and...” then she smacks her lips... then it’s another word .. then “ uhhh ... ummm ...stuff .. and ummm”
My gosh this is gonna put the jury to sleep!!! Is she really an attorney !?!?
Well after researching to see if this was the prosecutors first case, wow a bunch of firings and a resignation by this lead prosecutor. What a mess. No it's not her first case as some have suggested. And she quit in June 2020 but the prosecution team asked for her to stay on for this case and the judge approved it. Makes ya wonder just how unprepared this whole Ohio prosection team is if this is the best they got. I mean they've had years and years to study up on this case and to present a crystal clear case. She's been on the case from the very beginning and she sounds so unprepared. And what I read says she's the lead for all 4 cases. Guess it's a good thing little Jake and mommy dearest blabbed to save their hides. Just wow, that's all I can say.
The constant Um's and oh's makes it almost impossible to want to continue listening to someone, especially in her position of authority in a court of law, and speaking at an elementary grade school level. Not sure if that's because of certain people on the Jury, who may have a better understanding of what the State is trying to convey, and some who might not grasp on as quickly.
Please someone on the team tell this lady to stop with the UM…. extremely annoying impossible to listen to her!
He looks bored. Move this thing along I’m guilty
Oh dear God woman I cannot follow a thing you're saying and if I can't neither can the jury
Don't they have a better attorney??, Keeps saying ummmmm and smack her effun lips every second and she explains things so boring I bet the jury were tired of her very quickly
If this clown walks, it's on Canepa. I'm lost on why anyone wanted her on this case.
"Um, do stuff, um, the shoe, um shoe print...um...ummmmmm" 🤔 I will make a conscious effort to never, ever say "um" ever again.
Ummmm I went to do laundry and ummm came back to catch up and umm beotich was still umming. The other lawyers must be mortified
She should have thrown in a few “you know” and “basically”.
Wonder how she sounds in the bedroom during sax. Like um give it to me, like um oh yea, um omg.......lmao 😜
🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣
I thought the exact same thing. Ahhh give it to me baby ummm
The minute um came out half a dozen times, lost me. Um, pow, zoom, right to the moon...
What is this opening statement ‘Umm’ is not a word we use as adults
9:50 I assume victims family... my condolences.. I can't even imagine what they are going through in that court room.
This is excrutiatingly dull.
OMG. A 30 caliber is heavier than a 40? And WTF is a 769 by 32??? This is one illl prepared prosecutor.
This is absolutely UMMexceptable. How in the heck can the DAs office allow this woman to give the opening statement?!?! Yes it’s just suppose to be a brief overview that gets the jury ready for what we now know is going to be a very long and boring trial. If I was her coworker or even the judge I’d have to give her some constructive criticism. A little 4th grade reminder how to speak in proper sentences that don’t make the audience want to stick ice picks in their ears. This is absolutely UMMbelievable!!!!
😂🤣That's exactly what I thought too when listening to her. It gets worse if you use "CC" to read it on the screen. When she says "Rhodens" it comes up as rodents.
7.69x32? What? 😂
Going to be a great movie,
No disrespect to the victims but um um um my goodness.
Social media at its finest…
If the jury is confused at this point it’s purely due to their intellect
First two words, "So, ummmmmm"
Sad to see such a high profile case get bumbled like this.
She literally says "ummmm" 10 times just within the first 1 minute of this video.
Glad to see Rich Evans finally getting prosecuted for his crimes.
I couldn't get through the hims and huhs to actually get through it 😞
Well said. Nervous or ill-prepared. Loosing her jury.
I have to ask, who is Rich Evans?
This is not about Rich Evans. This is about the gruesome massacre of a family of 8. The Rhodens. They were murdered by another family in their community. The Wagners.
...yes, there are criminal cases where no length of prison sentence qualifies as punishment in the crimes committed. This is definitely one of them.
Not even halfway through and I can tell with this lady and the look on the defendants face these people are doomed , there will be zero sympathy from the jurors .
Jesus Christ, I cannot take this much longer
How many times did she say ‘um’.
Does the transcriber have to include all her ums
Pretty sure she does.
Hopefully she has a special key for ummm
My mother is a court reporter / transcriber and yes, all the "ummmm's" need to be typed. As well as any half words / stutters etc. This will be absolute torture for the reporter to type out.
Her opening statement was so confusing and half the time didnt make sense if you are not well versed in the case.
The prosecutor needs lessons on public speaking jesus, urrm ,urrm, urrm. sends the message shes winging it without full knowleadge. seriously needs to project specifics and not put the jury to sleep. she's rambling through it.
What does um mean?
Why did the video dtop
Sound is horrible
Even George IV is falling asleep
Take a shot each time she says, "umm"
The UM is definitely GUILTY.
Her communication skills would be graded about a C-. The incessant use of 'uhm' is really off-putting. No very professional.
Does this prosecuting attorney realize how many times she says "um".
Some lady she says she counted 164 times in one video
First, I really hope those monsters pay for what they did! Second, that prosecutor really needs to stop saying umm and right every 5 seconds!!! If I were on that jury I'd lose my mind!!
Was he the only person responsible? This is my first time hearing of this
Ummm driving me CRAZY 😧😧😧😧 That's all I can hear 🙉🙉🙉
If I took a shot for every time she said “um” I would be drunk
Opinion. Is she prepared?
Wow!!! Where’s the BULLDOG PROSECUTOR?!? This one seems shy/nervous
this person should not be a prosecuter hard to follow.
I hope this prosecutor watches the trial later and realizes how inexperienced she is ...... "And can you tell us" and all the ummms....🤦🏽♀️
