He was rarely selfish. I dont recall such things. Gettin to hundreds in those days were a big thing.
In one days whenever he scored hundred we almost won. Out of 49, we only lost 14 that too in last overs. Almost all the matches in those 14 he was the lone warrior and rest all were just giving up. The one infamous bangladesh 100, we had really good score of 289. Still bowlers lost it and everyone started saying he was selfish. Rest i always saw him trying his best and score as much runs as possible.

Don't call them people because millions of Sachin fans like me across the globe don't ever say such utterly nonsensical things and we admire Sachin like God for his unmatchable legendary contributions to cricket. Those few creatures who say silly and stupid things are just jealous haters of Sachin and they have always been jealous of his records and achievements. I never heard anybody calling him selfish till he scored his 100th century. According to these haters, a batsman who has selflessly scored 99 centuries suddenly became selfish while scoring his 100th century, LOL, how foolish is that? I want to kick these haters in their asses and strip them on streets. Anyway, these jealous haters are mostly from India and Pakistan and they never wanted Sachin to score 100 centuries and were actually waiting for his retirement on 99 centuries, but Sachin knew the importance of this legendary landmark in both Indian cricket and World cricket and he took it as a challenge and completed 100 international centuries. Millions of cricket fans within India and across the globe were eagerly waiting for this landmark and finally when it happened against Bangladesh, each and every one of us celebrated it like a festival. But as I told you those few jealous haters weren't happy and were hoping for India to lose the match so that they can push their agenda against Sachin. Anybody who understands cricket knows very well that 289 was a handsome score in 2012 and even more against a team like Bangladesh but the bowlers failed to defend the total which resulted in a loss and this boosted those jealous haters to push the blame on Sachin when actually he was the one who anchored the innings and helped India reach a solid score. It is only after this loss against Bangladesh that the silly "selfish" remarks started, but millions of cricket fans like me who have seen Sachin right from his debut have no doubts in our minds that he is the greatest selfless batsman to have ever graced the game of cricket. Can you imagine carrying the burden of expectations of your family for a few years? Well, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar has carried the burden of expectations of an entire nation on his shoulders for more than 20 years. That's the level of his sincerity, honesty, resilience and determination! Sachin is a once in a lifetime cricketer!

when sachin got a stable player on the opposite end in the early overs of indian batting , someone who would not loose wicket and keep scoring some runs , that is when pressure eased off sachin and he would be able to play his natural attacking game.. That is when sachin would ultimately play long innings , score big runs and get india to victory. When other batsmen lost wickets early, then all pressure would be on him and he would have to play defensive, less attacking game. He would have made india win more matches had he got good partners who would not loose wickets early in the game. There is a reason why people turned off television sets when sachin got out, because v v few players in those days could make india win alongside sachin.Truly the god of cricket. His performances were great in the days when he had support from dada, dravid, sehwag and Yuvi.

The best shots of this match were:
    1) Tendulkar's brutal square cut off Shaun Pollock at 1:22 . It went like a bullet to the fence. Cullinan said that he would have lost his hand if he had tried to stop it.
    2) Rahul Dravid's six down the ground at 2:49 off Allan Donald. 'White Lightning' Donald was the world's top fast bowler at that time and Dravid mocked him with that shot and made him look like a club bowler.

@MrAnupam200 Dravid was still new to the team and nobody expected much from him as his batting style didn't suit the ODI format and therefore his innings in this match was a big surprise to us. It was Sachin who was ruling World Cricket back then, by the time Ganguly and Dravid entered the Indian team in 1996, Sachin was already the No.1 Batsman in the World with massive craze and fan following and it was his wicket that every team used to plan for in their team meetings and discussions. Sachin was the biggest hope for every Indian cricket fan back then and 90% hopes were lost after he got out. The common belief was, anything can be achieved as long as Sachin is there at the crease and that's how it was in the 90's

Throughout the series the S.African team bashed us and won all the league matches easily. Indian team suddenly found their mojo at the very end when Sachin hit a memorable century against Zimbabwe at Benoni which helped India qualify for the finals.
The original final match was washed out due to rains in which India had not scored much to defend.
This was a rematch and all hell broke loose when India started the difficult chase with Sachin + Dravid taking all SA bowlers to the cleaners. The required run rate was below 6 and Dravid was single handedly taking India to victory.
But Jadeja threw away his wicket and from there onward it was downhill.
But the best bowling attack of those times was rattled in a rare instance.
The Dravid six off Donald and Sachin's fiery cut on offside will remain forever etched in memories.
    College times night owls😂😂

Before Sachin had issues with the tennis elbow, he was just unstoppable, I think that surgery impacted his ability to go aerial as often as he otherwise would have liked, the way he lofted the fast bowlers above their heads was a sight to behold for all cricket fans and the ease with which he did that was astonishing. That elbow had a big part to play, not that he lost any charm or class in his batting but he had to cut down on those impeccable lofted shots hit with pure timing and class. It was one of his trademarks.

This was the final of the tri series which also had Zimbabwe. India were lucky to make the final. India did not have a team that could compete outside of India, with Sachin the only consistent player in ODIs. We lost this game from a winning situation. 165-2 to 234 all out. South Africa were deserving winners, they dominated the tournament and won this final
