I like horror movies that don’t require blood and gore to scare the audience, but monsters and grotesque moments that actually scare me. I watch horror movies to be scared, not to cringe.

Okay, now that I've finished this video, MY GOD, I love this concept of "Scaring children respectfully" I remember watching the Joe Zombie series when I was younger and while it wasn't neccesarily scary by any means, it did make me feel as if I could handle concepts like eaten brains, skinned flesh, and other morbid stuff. I'll admit, I definitely had a fear of zombie for awhile after that. I also remember watching the Chucky movies with my older brother and being able to sit through the acid and disembowelments also made me feel prepared for more horror movies to come. Again, these films aren't neccesarilty meant for children, but my brother letting me watch them with him let me have that same "Scare kids respectively" attitude, and we both really bonded over movies like that. It's why I have so much nostalgia for horror movies that were around before I was even born.

I loved the book series as a kid, but growing up with dyslexia in a small town with a terrible school system, I always had to have my sister or dad read them to me. They were creepy and I was always in the edge of my seat listening to them. I remember one night sitting on my bed as my sister read the hearse poem to me. I remember my dad reading Big Toe to me and I remember how it stuck in my brain for so long. I remember the day I went to school and told everyone the stories I had read, then as I told them Bloody fingers, I laughed so hard that milk came shooting from my nose.

This was the first horror movie I watched in theater. It was an amazing movie, and I have a bit of trauma because of what happened afterwards. For anyone who doesn’t know, a climactic scene of the movie (and one that found pretty scary) takes place in a cornfield. As we were dropping everybody off, one of the people we were dropping off coincidentally lived right next to a cornfield. So imagine my surprise when everybody’s phones (with google maps leading us home) suddenly died. Leaving us stranded for a good 15 mins next to this cornfield in the middle of the night.

“The only problem for me is that the books weren’t scary enough”
I can relate, and not just for books too. I got so used to horror stuff that I just don’t find 90% of horror games, movies, books, etc. as scary. It’s not real enough. I might seem weird but I hope something paranormal happens in real life to me, it’ll be fun for me.

Later I found Scary stories to tell in the dark in our school bargain basement bookstore. Afterward, I discovered Scary Stories 3 in a scholastic book order pamphlet. These books are responsible for creating my love for reading. The other thing I love about scary stories to tell in the dark is that in the back there was always a "not so scary stories" to tell in the dark, where it starts just as scary but has some kind of goofy twist. It's refreshing after the terror of the other chapters. For example the one with the giant balloon headed guy who says something along the lines of "hello good sir, do you have a moment?" Nate! So glad to have you back. Horror has always been comforting to me as someone with crippling anxiety. I can control my fear. Scare myself on purpose. And then I overcome it and laugh. I was the kid at the parent loop huddled around a book about true facts from vampire sightings. It terrified me for years. When I got older, I started to seek that thrill myself. Every rollercoaster, every horror book, every Halloween haunted house. I got into horror rock, and oh boy did it shake my wold. Bands like My Chemical Romance and Misfits still give me nostalgia like you described. I was listening to Demolition Lovers when this video premiered. I love the sound engineering on this video and I always look forward to these. I’m having some difficulties at the moment with medication, and this video made my day. Thank you so much.

I loved these as a kid. I was a bookworm and found them one day in our school library. My little brother and I slept in the same room for a few nights after we read them together. I'm a parent now and I just ordered them, to read them again for myself and to make sure the next generation knows the awesomeness of these books

These books freaked me out as a kid, I was always paranoid that I left the book open and the monsters would start becoming real

Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark is one of my favourite childhood book series I grew up on! The people I went to school with never really had the same passion for the books as I did but it was always a treat getting to check them out at the school library. My sisters introduced me to the books when I was little and to this day I still have an affinity for them. I have the newer copies with the died down art style but recently I've been trying to get my hands on the original copies! :)

I was always especially freaked out by the bride story. I think it was the picture as the concept was not as scary as some of the others but it was still quite scary. The picture was terrifying though.

Before I even finish watching the video I already want these books. I used to love scary stories as a kid and I got in a lot of trouble in school for telling them to other kids who were asking me to tell them scary stories

I remember one of my school friends reading theses books. It was definitely a time. I never got the chance to read them. Because I was definitely not who I am today, when I was little. But the memory of people constantly talking about how these books, still comes up to mind. I feel like I’d probably enjoy the movie. Get to know more of these books that I never read
