    Harold was horribly violent in the book. He skinned one of the characters alive in the book and put his pelt out to dry.

    • @Bluesit32
      @Bluesit32 5 лет назад +69

      Never said he was alive when Harold skinned him. All that we know is that Harold is see laying bloodied skin out to dry on the roof. Might not even be human. I mean, the chances of it being human skin is high, but it was never definitely confirmed.

      @@Bluesit32 The best part of the stories were the room for interpretation. They were open ended and vague. The back of your book cited that some of the stories had different versions themselves and even spanned across other cultures. In my own imagination, that's what happened.

    • @markcobuzzi826
      @markcobuzzi826 5 лет назад +7

      The only thing I wished about the Jangly Man was that they gave more screen time building up to his initial appearance. In the original book’s “Me Tie Doughty Walker” story, the bulk of the narrative was spent on the boy hearing those words being sung repeatedly, then answered by another voice coming from his dog’s mouth. Only after that interplay repeats four times, at escalating loudness, does the bloody head fall from the chimney and the dog dies of fright.
      Then again, maybe when the movie comes out on home media, I could get to work creating my own edited mashup to make the Jangly Man’s introduction more like in that original short story. If I did, do you think the scene would be at lot scarier, if:
      1.) A voice clip of “Me Tie Doughty Walker” can be faintly heard while Ramon and Stella are in the cells, making it look like that cued Ramón to say “The Jangly Man is coming”;
      2.) We hear a faint recording of “Lynchy Kinchy Colly Molly Dingo Dingo” play, in a manner that sounds like it is coming from the adjacent room;
      3.) The audio clips repeat at louder volumes when the deputy walks back to the fireplace room;
      4.) A much louder “Lynchy Kinchy Colly Molly Dingo Dingo” finally plays over the clip in which we see the dog barking at the fireplace (and the dog’s “singing” would be portrayed with multiple recordings playing simultaneously at different pitches to make it sound more ghostly or otherworldly, similarly to how I heard the demonic voices were done in The Conjuring 2);
      5.) The shot of the dog running away is removed and replaced to make it look like the dog stayed in the room with the deputy, even as the Jangly Man’s head fell down;
      6.) When we cut back to Stella and Ramón, right before the deputy’s body gets thrown into the cell room, some added sound-effects of bones breaking and a dog yelping play, with an echoey effect, to make it appear as though the dog in the movie did not fair any better than the dog accompanying the boy in the original story?

    The pale lady from "The Dream" always haunted me for YEARS as a kid. Second scariest was the illustration of the ghost like thing from "Footsteps".
