Imagine not having the ending to the Mist on this list.
That should've been on the list.
Maybe because the deaths were not the surprise, but what happens after.
@@diobility yeah, it's about the unexpected death, not its ramifications on the story...Casey Becker wasn't the heroine, if you watch the trailers, it's clear the heroine is Sydney
That was an incredible scene, but it wasn't so much "unexpected" as we saw them prep for their deaths. I think it should certainly be in the top 5 of unexpected endings though.
Probably because that scene is included already in a ton of other WatchMojo videos

Fun fact: when scream first came out none of the cast members was really known...so they promoted Barrymore as she was the most known name at the time... everybody that went into the movie thinking she was going to be the main character just to find out she gets killed first...they were beyond shocked!
Lol we got clickbated
they LITERALLY say this in this video. did you just type it out here or what? 😂
Well she got killed second dont forget Steve
Barrymore's death its also a tribute to "Psycho" since Hitchcock also shocked the audience by killing Janet Leigh, a popular star at that time.
Even more shocking it was actually Drew‘s idea and she took it to Wes.
Monsters from a quiet place: I AIN'T GET NO SLEEP,CAUSE OF YALL!!
Underated comment😂😂
lol I don’t know why that made me laugh so hard
😂😂😂😂😂
XD
YA NEVER GONNA SLEEP CAUSE OF ME!!!!
The death of Charlie in Hereditary was so shocking to me that since I watched the movie, I'm afraid of even let my doggos put their heads out of the windows of the car.
Absolutely! And the mom's pain is so hard to listen to.
If the creaters of cabin in the woods didn't add in that eagle flying into invisible force field scene it would have been an unexpected death
I was going to say the same thing. Also, and I might be remembering this wrong, but I’m pretty sure that the scene where Chris Hemsworth dies was shown in the trailer. Or at least the eagle flying into the force field was. In any case, that made the death very expected.
Yeah not really unexpected since they showed that scene.
Ikr! The freaking dude hit the exact same spot too.
Like they weren't even intending on making it unexpected... It was set up well in advance.
Holden's death in the RV was much more unexpected.
It might have seemed out of the blue and made audience members mentally check out.

Top 10 Unexpected Descriptions On A WatchMojo List:

@@Swaggalicious Chris is the actor's name Thor ya probably know
Also if you played the game if you look close enough you can see Markus from Detroit become human

I like how The Cabin in the Woods goes on just long enough for you to forget about the invisible force field surrounding the area, so even though the film has already established that it’s there, it’s still a massive shock when he slams into it on his bike.
Evil Gopher Would have been better without them tipping their hand about that forcefield earlier in the film.
Rimuru Tempest yeah but it’s only seen in screen for a few seconds beforehand, so it’s easy to miss if you look away for a moment. And the film did indeed go on long enough for me to forget about it lol
The Cabin in the Woods in general is just brilliant
That scene still sends me to this day 😭😭😭😭😭😭
One of Whedon’s best movies. I wish they hadn’t had that moment w the bird earlier, too.
#1 Spider-Man

The Pun-Isher heheheheheh 😈
Let’s hope Disney take it real good.
Sony missed the part where that's their problem
Jajanaja
Brooo😭😭😭
The brother from Jeepers Creepers should have been on the list 😂
Micah Contee OMG YESSSS!!!!!
Yeah rip that guy
R.i.p them eyeballs
Slappy Jack Petty ass Creeper 🙄
Micah Contee seriously!!! the whole movie, we’re thinking that they’re going to somehow find a way out and Darry will save himself and his sister. But I was SHOCKED when he ends up getting such a gruesome ending. All he wanted to do at the beginning was try to help out whoever might have been down that pipe!! :(
I was kinda expecting Terri from the first Final Destination. "You can all just drop F...ing dead". BAM! Hit by a bus
Justin Kortuem i was about to comment that but you beat me by 6 months
Dr Evil lmao
Weird, tragic but true Story . My Mother used to work at at IBM( Now Global Foundries in Vermont - USA ) told me ( I was old enough to be told and understand ) this cautionary Tale . When She was at Work (Friday if I can recall)and She heard a young Couple arguing and it was quite heated. This Couple had been Engaged and were by my Mother's words "a nice looking Couple" . The argument went one for some time until the young Woman said to the young Man " I hope you drop dead!" Not sure WHAT could have happened to have a Future Wife and Lover say THAT to Her Future Husband ,but my Mother didn't go into those details . Any how, it so happened that either Saturday night / Sunday morning that young Man got into an awful car accident and died ( if memory serves me He died En route to the Hospital ) . The young Woman was't in the vehicle during the accident . Apparently ,my Mother heard about this death and that the young Woman was devastated and mortified with guilt . Not really sure what happened to the young Woman aside from that She never reported for Work again after the accident . I got into a fight with a classmate whilst at recess in third grade and told that classmate to "Drop dead!" and apparently the Principal called my Mother about what I hollered ,so this is probably why my Mother told me about that Tragedy . I have never said that awful thing to anyone since then . I truly believe that Words have incredible power and it is wise to exercise prudence in Their Utterance .Interesting that to this very Day I remember that Story. That Scene with the Bus in Final Destination ( that Movie got to me ) reminded me about the Story that my Mother told me .
List them any way you want, but Charlie's death in Hereditary completely wrecked me. It's my #1.
Agreed
Ikr ?
donald stevens I knew she would die from the first Second I saw her
@@FelixS. Of course she was going to die. That movie pointed out everything that was going to happen in the first half making the entire thing a massive joke to even watch.
Kurai1 I disagree here: definitely the best Horror Movie of the decade. By far.
Lil Gabe getting hit by a truck in the original pet semetary was very shocking
But not unexpected if you've read the book
Alabaster Pringles Gauge man. Not Gabe.
@Abel Lewis It's Gage
what was unexpected was ellie in the remake and I love how she got juds achilles tendon so much more realistic than how gage did
Yep
I don't see how the child from A Quiet Place is on this list. I mean, if it was simply because the directors and writers had the balls to actually kill a child sure, but the scene is literally so expected the second that child grabbed those batteries back and the toy went off.
I agree with you that it's a bit expected because of the foreshadowing, but I think its spot on the list is because usually in movies, the dad would've gotten there right before the monster. It would've been a close call, not a death. It's surprising because it goes against the usual movie trope
Dane Summers also it was in the trailer 🤣
'the boys' opening scene is the most unexpected death i've ever seen
I definitely agree, brutal
it was in the teaser though, wasnt it?
@@yerokE it was.
Yuuup
Cabin in the Woods death scene would've been so much better, if they hadn't shown the bird fly into the forcefield, at the beginning.
That's the point of the kill though and actually why it shouldn't be on this list since we know exactly what will happen before he even starts the bike. Though of course it's Chris Hemsworth so i guess THAT'S why it's an "unexpected death."
That’s how I knew he was going to die
Fun fact The Alien Chest Burster scene was not in the actual Script so the reactions from the actors was completely Genuine
Also not true. The scene was always in the script but the blood and shock of it was unexpected. So yes their reactions to it are ‘genuine’ but obviously they knew what the scene was going to be about.
Oh yeah, like they didn’t see the obvious chest rig hiding the chestburster. Very untrue and a movie myth that makes me angry.
@@theleanhead All they were told was 'the alien appears' in the script, and the rig was believed to be for an impact rather than an outward effect
First I've heard of it i don't believe it
They had a general of what was going to happen if only for the reason they had to cut the first try because the chestburster didn't get through Kane's t-shirt.
What they didn't know was how. They didn't know a real (pig) blood would squirt all over them or that the filmmakers used real intenstines or even design of the chestburster.
How could y’all forget Terry Chaney from Final Destination?! Her getting hit by that bus after her ‘Drop dead’ line was ICONIC.

I still think Katie Cassidy in Nightmare on Elm Street was unexpected. She was leading the movie up to that point
Nah, cause she was basically Tina lol

Im sorry to admit it but that cabin in the woods death made me burst out laughing in the theater. What made it even worse was that speech he gave like he was about to get something done.
Christrulesall2 true, so true!

Cabin in the Woods was a great film, and that was the point to have a cheesy speech. Because everyone dies in a dumb horror film, and Cabin in the Woods makes fun of it.

Spoiler
Part of the movie's hook was that she was getting killed and eaten. Her fate wasn't a spoiler.
@sandalssuck The Neon Demon was one of the most polarizing films of that year, but Refn has developed into a film maker who wants to (and is successful at) creating art that gives the viewer strong impressions - which for some can be negative. The same is the case for Too Old to Die Young - brilliant to many, yet too self-indulgent to others.
As for genre, it IS categorized as horror, but not in the traditional sense: many indie horror films like The Witch, Suspiria (2018) and Midsommar are slow-burn dramas with horror elements.
@sandalssuck thx again for commenting. It was ranked #4 for 2016 by IMDB CEO Col Needham. www.imdb.com/best-of/col-needham-best-movies-of-2016/ls066374059/
Again, polarizing, not you're taste - at least when watching it.
To answer your question, the ending was an allegory for being willing to eat the competition (while others don't have that dog-eat-dog mentality). The was symbolized by the color, including (the demonic) RED: maintained in Sarah's abdomen on her clothing, but spilling out of Gigi via blood, after being on her chest in her outfit).
BLUE represents narcissism from Narcissus, of Greek mythology. We see significant shifting between blue and red in phases many times throughout. I think the most poignant (and beautiful) use of blue was in the final scene. Sarah, previously seen as "beige" and rejected in the test scene (see the below beige reference), had just “eaten the competition.” When asked to take the part of another model, her eyes became incredibly blue, accentuated by a blue curtain in the background. As Gigi became sick, she entered a blue-tinted area, vomited the eyeball (the iris of which was blue), which was consumed by Sarah.
The kid from A Quiet Place made noise in a movie where that gets you killed.
How was his death unexpected?
It looked like they’ve been surviving for a while so the kid had to know that making noise was bad.
Turning on the toy that makes loud sounds might as well have been a suicide attempt.
Because everyone was expecting he will get saved by his father.
It was one, how could he ever find a girl in that mess when he grew up?

@ Trudell Wbird....the whole premise of the Final Destination movies is basically there is some sort of tragic event that is suppose to kill a bunch of people at the start. But for some reason, there is always one person who has a vision about the event and ends up preventing themselves and a bunch of other people who were suppose to die from actually dying. Death is pissed because those people were suppose to die but they cheated Death and avoided it so Death starts to basically go after them and kill them off because they were originally suppose to die in the main event.
