Pete! This pedal is GREAT and this (AVC) video sounds great too, but CAN sounds better (quality) if you force the youtube 'system' REencode it TO VP9/Opus codec (what's much modern and it has better quality) If You going to your 'videos' section and press on EDIT button then chose /Enhancements option: you will get a little preview window with tools. Press NOTHING (on tool sliders) JUST leave the video running until few sec (because start's automaticaly) then stop it. Click on preview video slider and put BACK to starting frame/zero position. And press save. RUclips will RE-ENCODE your video to VP9/Opus :) You can check (about ~1hour later) the result (avc changed to vp9) inside 'normal' youtube video player, when you press right click on player and chose: statistics. I hope you can see this message :) And sorry for my bad english, i was'nt learned this language.
One year ago, I left a question in your comment section, asking exactly for a pedal like this. It only make sense to be able to load IRs in a pedal format, I'll reward this guys buying this pedal, and I would suggest it also for home recording studios, to avoid the latency of the sound card plus the CPU calculation of the IR. Thanks Pete!
Just got mine today. I haven't started using it yet, but I already have a positive comment. I plugged it into the USB port of my computer and within 2 seconds my computer said the driver was loaded (if there even is one). Then I launched the downloaded editor executable and within two seconds I was editing. I have never, ever experienced plug and play of such ease. No software installation routine, no corresponding hardware configuration. Literally plug and play.
Hi Jeff, did you try to record the sound directly in your audio interface? Does it sound the same as if it was in a real cabinet? I'm looking for a device like this to enhance my clean guitar sound directly pluged in my sound card. thanks
Pete, I've seen this thing in print ads for a couple of months and never gave it much thought. BUT, your guitar nerdness over this is soooo genuine that I'm convinced to go check one out. When you see a studio/touring guitarist who has been exposed to so much gear and watch him get this giddy over a new pedal, then it MUST be something special.
Wow, what an incredibly useful pedal. Makes you wish more pedal makers would focus on utility a little bit more. For musicians running around small clubs, this seems almost like a necessary accessory
Exactly what he says at around 4:20. Use it as an IR host with a signal from a reactive load box. I bypass the internal amp models and now have 9 presets with different cab IRs. Add some post amp effects like delay and reverb, and then send the signal to either a powered monitor or channel strip/mixer. Works great. I finally have wide open amp tone in my tiny little condominium. it works so well I have bought 4 heads in the past month or so. I had not had a tube amp since I moved into this condo 12 years ago. It's great to have them back because as good as good as amp modelers are getting, nothing beats a real tube amp.
WHAT? $299?? I was expecting $699... Wow. This is what so many of us have been waiting (buying and selling) to find. I get so much recording work with my cool vintage amps - do you know how much money I have missed out on because home studios' neighbors stop the sessions? Game changer with a reactive load. GAME. CHANGER.
Thank you so much Pete for doing all these great videos for us. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say how much we all appreciate it. You the best Pete 🇨🇦🍻
Some people don’t like pedal. They say it doesn’t sound good. After watching Pete I would say it’s them. If we use it, write a good tune, watch our personal intonation, etc.....be mindful then the results will be good.i dig the pedal(what I hear).
This is a pretty ingenious box, and for less than 300 bucks you can’t be wrong especially when Pete tells to us it’s a good piece of gear... Thanks for all Pete, you’re definitely the guitarist of the 2/3 past years and the following ones!!!
Excellent demo! I watched another demo of this unit before coming here and I didn't care for what I heard at all. I'm now interested in purchasing the Ampli-Firebox for direct recording. Thanks Pete!
I’m here because I couldn’t believe it sounded so bad on the Andertons demo. Turns out it was the demo not the pedal, great playing and explaining the process. Subbed.
I enjoy watching Andertons videos but they don't seem to know what they're doing when it comes to digital stuff a lot of the time (particularly modellers/multi-fx) or even some analogue stuff if it isn't simple to use. I tend to watch it more for the banter than the actual demo because I find their demos aren't very comprehensive a lot of the time and they don't always represent the gear very well (as is the case with the Amplifire). For instance, with overdrives/distortions they kind of randomly twist knobs while Lee tries to make everything that isn't a Tube Screamer (or clone of one) sound a bit like a Blues Driver and Rob just ups the gain so he can shred or tune to drop D. My favourite demos are ones where you get to hear the gain range from zero, you get to hear a variety of tones dialled in (and they play something appropriate to that tone) and you get to hear it in different applications (either to boost an amp or stacked with other pedals). I like Pete's demos because he shows it in the context of a mix and dials in multiple usable sounds. That and Pete is just an awesome player.
@@1alexanderkup1 They've been making videos, primarily about gear, for almost a decade. Seeing how Lee owns a music shop and Rob is a professional musician, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to know how to operate the gear they demo. Surely if they want to sell products, they should make it sound as good as possible. They've made numerous products that sound good or great in other videos sound like absolute crap because they don't know how to operate it.
I'll be getting one of these soon. Here's how I will use it. I use a Yamaha THR10C. An incredible little lunchbox that sounds great when mic'd. The only limitation is that it has only five models and five presets. Good models, but only five. Want more models, you have to buy more THR10s. The beauty of the THRs is that they have a "flat" position. I will be running this into the flat and will be able to add nine more models to my THR10. The flat THR10 model is no different in concept to the Atomic CLR monitors.
Wow Pete, great review like always! For 299 it's an absolute bargain, my AMT CP100 was about that price here in Israel, and they do sort of the same in regards to loading IRs. Hey, Pete, would you say that the Ampli-Firebox is capable of reproducing "touch-sensitive", or "responsive" amp/speaker simulations? The distorted and high gain tones of modelers have come a long way over the years. No more "fizziness" and better response to your" hands" which IMO most of your tone comes from. IR's are also making a huge impact on the "digital" side of guitar sound. Love the valves but..........

Tony Kennedy Been using guitar rig5 with Celestion IR's in my DAW for some time now. Don't play out anymore, but I still have the Marshall and 4x12 greenback cab at the ready🔥😀
Really enjoy your demo's Pete, I am in awe of your skills, thank you. Could I suggest you demo some less expensive equipment for us mere mortals? We don't all have a bottomless pit of money to enable us to purchase the most recent state of the art gear. For example, how about doing a demo on a Squire Affinity Stratocaster or even the whole range of Squiers? Also while I've seen you demo the Boss pedals, Behringer pedals come in at less than half the price, how about a demo on those please?
+Chris Davies hi Chris- generally I make videos for people who contact me and have an interest in me doing a video for their product. If makers of very inexpensive gear contacted me, I’d be happy to consider making a video of their gear!
I have wanted someone to finally design a rig you could put in a coat pocket....but I dont like the hold down switch modes, on the main switches, recently had a multi effects go into a diff mode while playing live holding a switch down too long during a sound change in a solo , then i am like ooooh dammm how do i get back out of this mess. There will be live performance change suggestions now after some use. Great pedal. i always use cab modeling, so easy to get volume and monitor mixes running di without a amp involved at sound check. Then pull it up for yourself. Great Playing Pete as always!

What pickups are mounted on that amazing Suhr? I love the sound coming from that amazing combo!
+Mauro Marchelle thornbuckers!
Pete Thorn thanks a lot Pete! Really!! ,\m/
