Did you also buy an SWR meter? You need to make sure to do that before you start transmitting. I also recommend a quick disconnect adapter and spring for your antenna.
I bought one of these and I am unable to open the battery compartment. I follow instructions, and I feel if I pull any harder, something is going to break. It doesn't open, as of the button mechanism isn't moving the inner latch. Anyone else have this problem?
Hind sight... all you had to do was put flat head screws in the rear... that would have involved counter sinking the holes of the bracket, but not a major issue with a counter sinking bit.
Ooh, that's good to know. I recently added a rear ladder (video of that here: ruclips.net/video/ZwiLODXA-eU/видео.html) and am considering re-routing my antenna back there.

The author of this video showed several times how the compartments slide on and off. Just press the detent and slide which ever adapter to the left. I can't imagine a use for the battery compartments, I only have used the car adapter.
@@kurtp5379 The car adaptor is also the only thing I wanted to use, but it came with one of the battery compartments already on, and I couldn't get the dang thing off. Sent it back.
@@kurtp5379 Geez! OMG! I did not watch this video after having watched 3 others which never showed the opening of the battery compartment.... And before you replied, the seller was asking for it back, so I sent it back, then I saw your reply, then watched this vid in it's entirety. I feel very fluoridated at this point, but had the instructions come with an illustration, I would have realized it was a chinese puzzle, instead of assuming the obvious suspected design. They need to put an illustration with arrows indicating slide direction, and the two halves, half way engaged. (For us old dumb guys) Everyone just assumed it pulled out like a magazine clip.
Is the fact that NOBODY just uses or reviews with the antenna that connects to the unit itself indicative of the fact that it will barley work unless you have an antenna mounted on the outside of your vehicle?
The small antenna is designed for open-air use, like if you’re hiking. The metal body of the car tends to block the signal so you can’t really use it as a handheld device from inside. During a recent ice storm & 11-day power outage I used it as a handheld to monitor weather and it worked great. I’m in town, though, so not a lot of folks with CB radios to talk to. 😂
Ooh, that’s a great idea, David. I don’t have the proper tools for that [yet], but I always appreciate the smooth finish of pop rivets. It just looks more...finished.
Wonder if it will work with just the afixed antenna while in the vehicle? I was going to buy one for all vehicles, but this unit i can carry anywhere... hope it works!!
Hi Judd, it does not work with just the small antenna while inside the vehicle. The body of the vehicle blocks the CB signal pretty completely. Remember, most CB radios (like this one) are only 4 Watts, which will get you a maximum distance of 1-3 miles in urban areas *if* you have a tall antenna without too many obstructions. A short antenna inside a car is a double whammy no-no.
Andy,
Thoroughly enjoyed watching you install your Midland 75-822. I like your style!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm new to CB. I'm going to get one of these though for emergencies.
Thanks for sharing, we like that belt clip thing gave us some all new ideas.
It’s super handy!
Mmm I went with a magnet roof mount ... no holes in my toy , at least unnecessarily. Thanks for sharing buddy ✝️🇺🇸🅰️🤙🏻
Do you like the radio?
@@MastahDriver yes very much

Yes! Bought a SWR after I made the video.

Did you make a video of Swr tune up ??? Please let me know I am stumped 🤔
Never mind the meter let’s me know what I need duhh lol

Use an hatchback mount. No holes. Adjustible

@@helloandymoore thanks andy, that mskes sense. I have a 3 ft antenna ( magnet type) would that be tall enough??
Did you hone in your antenna with an SWR??? I ordered one, dad had one somewhere, hes been gone since 96 and i wouldnt know where to start looking
Yep! Should work great. If I kept my roof basket on year-round, I’d have mounted my antenna there. Alas, too many roof accessories, too little time.
Yep! Tuning the antenna is 100% recommended. Speaking of which, I probably need to do mine again soon...
Just Grind screw head a Little bit 🤦 or une a flat head screw🤷
