Hunter Christopherson In the 3DS version, only Tails gets captured by the Time Eater. And in the XBOX version, everyone gets thrown into Null Space. So that's why in the 3DS version, Tails doesn't warn Sonic about Eggman's attacks.
Actually, taking Sonic Mania into account this would make more sense. His Drop Dash could be seen as Classic's way of mimicking Modern Sonic's boost. He seems to be able to pull it off somewhat, but ultimately he can't control it yet, so he used what he learned to develop something easier to manage instead. This wouldn't make sense with the Homing Attack because that technique is purely aerial while Boosting is hybrid and, albeit Drop Dashing requires jumping to start it, its practical effect is exclusively ground-based.
Still makes no sense as Avatar cant boost and Classic only learns it in the end of 3DS Generations but not the console ones where he fails the airboost.. not to be used in anygames.. blaze at least has her own version of boost
1:12 I like the way "Then I'll have twice as much fun defeating you!" is delivered specifically in this version because it goes all silent for a moment I like to think it's being said in a creepy kind of tone instead of a cheery tone in all other versions.
I always found the 3ds version of this boss to be more interesting because each of his attacks are all different and unique in their own ways and you actually feel punished for getting hit by them. With classic sonic if you're hit by an attack the Time Eater will repeat the attack, (only once though) which will stall you and if your hit but the same attack twice no rings will spawn and you will lose more rings; and with modern sonic if you're hit you get sent back away from the Time Eater which also stalls you and you will lose more rings. This makes the boss more challenging and just overall more interesting to fight rather than just holding down the boost button and hoping you get close enough to touch it like in the Xbox/PS3/PC versions. My main problem with this boss however is that even if the boss itself is more challenging, that challenge is immediately tossed away by the fact that they give you way too many rings in this fight. Even if your not doing to great its very easy to get over 200 rings which equates to over 3 mins, (since rings count down by the second) that the Time Eater would have to stall you while you're still picking up even more rings over time. I think if this boss fight had a little less rings it would be perfect.
Nah disagree, the amount of rings is not that generous, i literally run out of them fairly quickly in 3rd 3D section And Ive run out of them again in 4th 2d section These bosses woulve been better if this 8 lives of them would be shortned to 4, 8 for hard mode

You’re hitting the core multiple times in the 3DS version. The difference here is that in the console version, it’s boost to win even more than Forces.

This is by far the better version of the fight. For 1, you don’t have the entire cast bickering in your ear for the entire fight pointing out obvious attacks. 2- you actually have to do more than just go in a straight line.
I remember first hitting the Time Eater with Classic Super Sonic and mishearing the line as "Where's the mug?" That alone is enough to prefer this version, but the fight itself is also harder and just more fun, y'know?
