❤️❤️ I don’t comment, but you two have touched my life. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your understanding of how to teach us in the Savior’s way. Your modern day parables bring such clarity for me every week. I look forward to being with you until we do get to Doctrine and Covenants!
The story of The window's mite has always resonated with me but especially now after listening to this. I have never felt so spread thin as a mom of four working two jobs, trying to keep up with life, finances, a church calling, my home and my children's needs. It was comforting to think about this story in a new light as a younger woman. I am trying so hard and Heavenly Father knows my heart and efforts. I really appreciate your work in making these videos. I feel a bit like I am back in Institute and getting to learn and have the scriptures come alive again.
I am SO grateful to you two for sharing your amazing gift of teaching the gospel. I could listen to your inspired insight for hours!! Thank you thank you for adding to my spiritual growth in the gospel:)
Guys, I will come here every week and say thank you so much for giving your time to help us. I am so grateful and I feel that my days are better when I watch your lessons. 💖
Oh my gosh, I have read this parable a million times and you guys just opened up the world for me. I'm not kidding. Emily, I cannot thank you enough for breaking this down and opening this up. I have tears in my eyes and I see this so clearly now. I cant thank you enough. It makes so much sense and all of a sudden it becomes so easy to understand. The concept is so easy and I think how did I never see this before. This simple parable of the talents and the new meaning opens up a whole new avenue of knowledge and understanding and its so absolutely profound to me. It literally makes my life have a 360 moment. Turns me around full circle. As Oprah would say its my Ah~ha moment. I cannot thank you guys enough for what you do. I love watching your lessons and being taught by you. As a youth my favorite thing was seminary. I loved it. Everything that I learned in seminary has stuck with me in my life and given me a basis for future growth. Peeling back the layers of the gospel are so wonderful and when you have these moments you feel so blessed. I have learned that these moments never seem to end. There is so much for us to learn. I'm so thankful that you guys love your work and are willing to share it with us. Thank you thank you!
I am not someone who takes time to comment online. However, I want to thank you for sharing your time and talents of teaching with me. I love the way you help me to understand and love the scriptures even more. I always learned so much from and loved my seminary teachers and now, I love that I can come here and find that same excitement, knowledge and love of the scriptures from you both. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thank you for helping me be a better teacher to the 13 and 14 year olds in my ward. I learn so much from you every week that I'm able to incorporate in my lessons.
There was a show on CNN last week in where a man was interviewed regarding his business of Marijuana production. This man mentioned that his children living in Utah cut off ties with him and refused to allow him to see his grandkids. When I heard that, All I could think of was how they missed the mark. Watching this episode, I feel it again. So many miss out to just love people. Who are the least in our wards? Communities? Yet we still throw our silent stones. Loved this. Will continue to watch.
I love all your lessons but this one really touched my heart! With all the negative that I've been dealing with in the California schools ect. It's so nice to have this reminder of how we truly prepare for the second coming! 😊
You guys this is so perfect for additional information and insights!! I feel like I am always commenting in Sunday school where I never commented before. And I love all of the tidbits of the culture you share and all of the examples and stories etc. it absolutely perfect for me to understand what is going on in Come Follow Me!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!
Thank you Emily and David for your insightful lessons. I teach in Primary every week so I miss out on class lessons. I love your lessons, they make me feel included and they really help me draw closer to our Saviour.
When you were talking about the chickens, it hit me that it’s also about the experience of stewardship. The learning. The knowledge gained in doing the work. Poor Grace never learned how to properly take care of chickens at all. She could never go and raise her own chickens, while the other children can. In the parable, the profitable servants now have the gained knowledge, experience AND confidence, that if they chose to no longer remain employees, they could possibly start their own business because they had learned a skill. The rich master couldn’t just tell them how to profitably invest. They had to do. Now they have a shared knowledge and experience base with the rich man. But the one who chose to waste the opportunity can never be like his master. If you want to link it back to the 10 Virgins the the bridegroom allowed them time to learn how to increase their experience and knowledge (hence why they can’t share) and the Virgins who were prepared because they had experiences that taught them they might need more. The other 5 had “buried” their lamps and didn’t increase their knowledge. (It’s kinda difficult to blend the two). I likened the oil lamps to today-cell phones. We’re at the wedding hall waiting on the party to start and we are using our phones. The batteries go down some and now you don’t have enough power to take photos! Those who had previously run out of battery power have learned to have ready a zip charger and keep it just in case. If you share the charge from the zip charger then neither of you have a full charge to get through the reception. You’ll both miss wonderful pictures. (Ok. It’s silly but you get the idea).
I just love you both. I am in primary (singing) and I was having a hard time connecting each week with Come Follow Me. I was reading it alone and to be honest, not getting much out of it. After all, I had' read the stories so many times' before. But then came Easter and I discovered you. (LDS Living) Thank you. That was such a great week. I had read the last week of Jesus' life for years at Easter time and was thankful that you shared something a little different. I learned so much. I 'felt' so much! I anxiously look forward to each Monday to hear what you have to teach me. It truly has opened up my mind, eyes and heart to the scriptures. It has blessed my life. I have even gone back to the beginning of 'Don't Miss This' and have learned so much. I love this. Thank you so much for sharing your gift of teaching in a way that I can understand. Thank you for doing this for me. I hope to meet you both someday.
You two are blessing the lives of so many people with these videos each week ❤️ I use them in my YSA home evening lessons and it has made everything so much easier!
We just had a member of the 70 visit us for stake conference. He commented on " men's hearts failing them," and said President Nelson talks of apathy, which means not having feelings or numb. He says that is what he's concerned with in this phrase and we all need to be more empathetic. Feeling for others, loving, listening and watching.
My goodness gracious, you two are such a blessing. I've been studying the NT this year personally and your videos help me more than I can ever express. Please know that you are doing Gods work.
I like to think of the talents also as what we are asked to carry in life. A talent was a weight that can be carried by one man for a day. So a load, both good (money and skills) and not so good (challenges and difficulties) the total load we are asked to by our saviour to carry. And so by lifting our loads we grow and are able to carry more.
I really liked this lesson. The emphasis on loving well is really great. With such an emphasis on loving when He comes to divide the sheeps from the goats it would be interesting to explore the role of our temple covenants and why they are so important, in coming to know Him.
love these video's y;all are doing. They are very encouraging. I'm starting to listen to them before I do my studying of the chapters. It prepares me for what I have to look forward too. Have shared your videos with others at church
I just love you guys and these videos and I am super stoked to find you are coming to Press Pause in August. I will be making my way down from Scotland to see and hear you and everyone else. So excited!!
I wish you would have covered the part where they ask about the wife and the brothers she is married to and he replies they are angels? This is confusing because we believe in eternal marriage, but here it says marriage is an earthly thing.
14:54 I used to think that when I was young and not a yet a member. I used to think that Christ had forgotten us since no one has heard about him anymore, we only hear confusion and disagreement between religion and gospels principles. What made me think that Christ has forgotten us was the lack of faith which for me was due to the lack of knowledge. So maybe is the lack of faith he is talking about or maybe not. I believe Christ heard my prayers which got me to this boat. In Matthew 24:22 He says he would cut short those days. The elect will know. They will stand in holy places, they will know the signs... not the "day" or "time", just the signs. They will have knowledge. I Think the people who will be in the situation I was, will lose faith quickly due to the lack of knowledge and faith. That's just my opinion.
Thank you so, so much for helping us gain a better understanding of these scriptures. I really enjoy listening and following along with you. Please can I just find out how I can get those notes. I know you've shared it before but I missed out on noting it down. Thanks you again, I just love how you make these scriptures come alive.
For the first time in reading these signs of the times, I felt very protective of our modern day apostles. Christ told his disciples that their lives were in danger, and indeed, they were all killed. What does this mean for our beloved apostles? Are they in mortal danger as the Second Coming of the Savior approaches? This thought causes me to shudder. This may sound like nit-picking but I believe the 5 prepared virgins can share their testimony, but it is not going to give the implied desire for the 5 unprepared virgins... creating their testimony. When the source of the light leaves, the testimony leaves, as well. So sharing one's testimony can help build desire in another to gain personal testimony, and that's good. But if I am the requester, I am not going to be able to endure off of their testimony. When all is said and done, I have to have my own testimony, my own oil source to light my way.
If you were a pioneer would you on arrival have followed Brigham Young and clearing the indigenous Indians from their lands and forcing them onto reservations? What personally would you have done?
They present a week ahead so that teachers can have enough time to prepare. All their videos are available if you want to go back to the one that matches this week's lesson
Ann Postak In a previous post they said they’re ahead do you can access the lesson when you’re ready without having to wait for them to post. I find that if I look ahead in the lessons, inevitably something will happen or I’ll hear or see something that goes with a future lesson that I would have missed and probably forgotten about when it’s time.
Help please. As they were talking about the 10 Virgins Emily said Joseph Smith changed Matthew 25:12 to say "You know me not." I can not find that change. Where is it located? Thanks
@@wixomfam I'm sure mine was printed after that (I don't have mine with me to check for sure) but if you go to the Church's website and look up the scripture, it's in the footnotes there too (you may have to turn on the footnotes).
You’re right; older versions of the scriptures don’t have that particular footnote. It must have been included around 2014 or so because some of my kids have it in their copy but one doesn’t. There is actually quite a few JST corrections that aren’t included in our scriptures, even now. I am glad they put that one in, though!
