The story you share of Garrett and LOVING someone spoke so much to me as we've taken on our niece who's hurting. Ironically, we picked her up from Lehi as well. LOL. You've given me hope and the spirit spoke to me as you told your story. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I've been struggling so much.

Love it and was that a yawn at the end? Haha. I have a sycamore tree planted right outside a tiny chapel my husband built for me to do missionary work in. He is not YET a member.
Thank you for sharing your story about the boy you took in and to just love him. I am having to face some hard things regarding my daughter's heart and medical questions and this spoke to me so strongy - just love her. When we choose to love, miracles happen. Thank you for saying that. Also, Brother Butler was my favorite seminary teacher at Springville High School. I'm so happy to feel like I'm back in your class again!
"Just love him"........this is similar to when I went to the temple fasting/praying over my son who turned to atheism......."love him" , so that is what I prayerfully did, and this changed me completely in my view and approach toward my son......the results: we stayed close, respectful, and have areas we kindly disagree on. And I learned deeper charity for certain....the power of loving someone well, yes!!! Accepting them right where they are. Is this easy? no, but so very wonderful to feel love the way God does, though His Love is so very much more infinite.
Emily, I know you love Garrett, and you played an important role in providing the opportunity for him to succeed, and make it through his struggles. But he would not have the skills and foundation he has for success without all of the work his loving dad did with him, coaching him and preparing him for that success that is also due to the gene pool he comes from. I hope that you help Garrett love, appreciate and honor the good that came from his bio family. You get some credit for helping him make it through some dark times. But his bio family should not be ignored.
but then why does our church make going to our temple contingent upon a tithing? that precludes people from entering as well. It becomes more of a business transaction doesn't it?
I just can't thank you both enough for doing these videos. I was recently baptized into the church and am trying to keep up with the Come Follow me curriculum. Your videos help me understand the scriptures so much better and also help me explain them to my 3 year old daughter who is in Primary. Watching your videos has made a difference in our family home evening which I'm finally getting the hang of! You are in my prayers.... Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
Love is the key, especially with the youth. So important that they feel our love. Been a youth leader forever and mom of so many. Love for our own kids is so important. I’ve seen so many love for our youth at church and not have the same patience at home. So important to be who we are 24/7, not just with others kids, but with our own babes too.
