  • Raised beds are important garden hacks that help to minimize space. But making one can be expensive sometimes.
    In this video, Banana trunks have been shown to be very useful in constructing raised beds at no cost whatsoever. Banana trunks are abundantly available in Africa and other parts of the world. They are usually considered agricultural waste.
    So this is an amazing way of recycling it.

    Weldone my brother. This is fantastic. Plantain trunks are so useful in this regard.
    But the red or laterite soil not mixed with manure is my concern. Will the compost underneath and the biochar applied at transplanting serve as enough nutrients.
    I will try this.bed in a place in my farm as well. Thanks so much for the detailed information.

      Thanks sir. The soil is rich too. It's mixed with top soil. Not completely laterite. And plenty compost under too. Plz try it and send me videos.

    Did you consider using black nylon as mulch, instead of dried banana leaves that will eventually tin out and even get integrated into the soil?
