Black words appear: "HE HAS TOLD ME ABOUT YOU" "YOU TOLD HIM NOT TO GO OUTSIDE DURING THE STORM" "HE'S OUTSIDE" "DO YOU WANT TO SEE HIM?" The TV shuts off again, but this time showing a first-person video of an entity traveling in the forest. He sees the house. He looks in the window to see a scared bereaved father staring at the TV in disbelief. The video shuts off once more. The last footage is now from the father's perspective. He's focused on the door. _"Daddy?"_ _Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock._ _Knock, knock, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK._ _"Daddy!"_ _KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK._ _"Daddy, let me in!"_ _"I'm sorry."_ _KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK._ _"DADDY!"_ The door opens.

(Like an eas for a big demon, and the eas voice starts saying shit like "I am sorry to say, this is the end. God help us all." Totally ruins it because an EAS wouldn't do that)
You should check out Gemini Home Entertainment, that’s my favorite right now, and-while it isn’t a bad thing-this series seems to take inspiration from it. Seems good enough to stand on its own tho, I’m rly excited for this new VHS tape trend as opposed to Local 58’s live broadcast motif. Great stuff all around

If the creator made it a foreign company trying to appeal to Americans, it would be very well suited, though.
Given the name, perhaps the man who runs "Laika Home Video" (or at least writes for them) is a Russian who moved to Maine, and it still learning the language? Maybe he's running the company as a way to make a living in a new, unfamiliar country. And he picked the worst possible town to settle down in.
The part where jimmy makes a friend with a giant talking spider who lets jimmy use his telephone after waiting out the storm in the watchtower to call his parents is missing. That’s like the best part
