I really REALLY like how decompressed this is to be compared to the 1-4 minute standard of most analog horror. It gives room for you to settle in and get comfortable, get really used to the era and place before upturning the apple cart. As a wise man once said, you need to have a status quo before you can upset the status quo, and this creator 100% gets that.
I definitely appreciate this. Too many Analog Horror series blow their load by exposing the monster so early, I feel like GMBC can definitely become the ultimate powerhouse of Analog Horror if he keeps up this pace. I feel like too many creators don't understand that less is more when it comes to the monster or threat but GMBC seems to have a good grasp on it so far comparatively.
@@CooperativeCowboy25 Well said. Hopefully more of 'em can pick it up along the way. I'm definitely trying. Granted, my work is nowhere near on the scale or quality of these other creators.
Finally some analog horror from the 90s that doesn't look like a bad imitation of the 80s. As someone who can still remember what local news and public access channels were like in the mid 90s, this is spot on.
This took so long to get creepy I thought it might not even be horror and got relaxed. Good use of tension and atmosphere to lull you into a false sense of security.
Hey, so, while it wasn't a massive part in this video, I immediately found myself wondering if you would end up slowly adding more and more unusual, creepy information in the World/Local News Flash bits -which you did with the Local News Flash, with the mention of rising Missing Persons count. I feel like it'd be so easy to slowly slip more and more strange tidbits of information before you let loose with the big blows. And the temperature reading, for those who pay attention, is a nice touch. It lets those who notice it get a few seconds heads up that something's ..."off". Amazing work, keep at it.
But it's a little off for something recorded in 1994....The IRA ceasefire is plausible, but the Bush administration being asked to intervene against Hussein's invasion? Either it's an honest mistake, or it's intentional to give us an idea that there's more subtle weirdness in this very similar alternate world/timeline.
i like it but as someone who grew up with CRTs and VHS players it's a little too sharp. edges tend to be fuzzy. not staticy, not blurred but fuzzy like how a peach feels.
The dynamic temperature reading was a great touch. Felt a LITTLE bit long in the beginning, but the world building was very good. Looking forward to the next installment
anyone else vibe with the background music? srsly tho this was a great example of how to do analog horror, sets up the concept and setting fluently while giving the viewers time to get comfortable and bam, a perfectly timed introduction of the weather anomaly. literally cannot stress how much i love this
Not sure if it makes me more of a sociopath or psychopath, but between a good ARG like I AM Sophie, The Sun Vanished or CovertDisclosure & well done analog horror like Eventide, Gemini & Local 58, I absolutely cannot get enough of this kind of stuff.
I can see you’re still active on here. Please do more of these. This series in my opinion has the most potential I’ve seen of many on RUclips. I know it’s been years at this point and analog horror isn’t as popular, but I still come back to this video and rewatch it from time to time. The way the atmosphere builds is so good. The graphics and editing are on point. It’s fantastic.
Ok. This is just amazing for the first “official” video! This series does have promise, so keep going good sir! Ok I’m hiding this here, but my real-life name is, and I’m not lying to you or anyone, Ethan. I’m terrified for what happens in the future.
My only problems with this are that the silences before and during the scares are formulaic and make the scares expected and unsurprising, and that the "step outside and join him" part is much too simular to the local58 weather report video. There's also a disconnect in logic, that the temperature readout says "it hurts" while the bar at the bottom urges the viewer to step outside; it makes me not certain if it's whatever entity causing this that's purposefully giving mixed messages, or the entity is doing the bar at the bottom but not the temperature readout and that it's some guy that's in pain doing it, but shouldn't it be automatic? I understand I'm being nitpicky but it's because I love what I see and there's a skillful mind and a discerning eye at play here. There's a ton of potential. Experiment more, break away completely from what your contemporaries are doing.
Morrisville, VT resident here! I remember there was a mysterious fire that took down the Mt. Mansfield transmitters a couple years ago. I had this old radio that I liked to use when I was bored, but when the transmitters went down I could barely get anything on it. Though, when I flipped through some of the AM channels, I remember actually picking up some faint tune that I now realize sounded very similar to the background music Channel 5 used back in the day. Not sure how that works, since analog TV broadcasts were decommissioned in 2009.
This was one of the BEST Analog horrors I have ever seen in my life! I love how the temperature starts to drop but it doesn't say anything about it until it gets really low. This just proves that things can be way more scary and unsettling when it doesn't say anything about what is happening, it makes you feel alone. I was so disappointed when it ended because I wanted so much more. Keep up the good work.
I liked how everything seemed pretty normal until a truck flipped and blocked all the lanes, and then suddenly things got real weird really quick. It makes it feel like maybe that truck was transporting an entity that had control of winter storms, and it suddenly got released in the accident and started causing chaos. If that's the theory we're supposed to take away from this, then it was really well done, very subtle.
I don't think the truck is important - that was just a detail of the 'normal' part. I think the important clue is the meassage at 4min 54sec where it says "the green republic" - which is a nickname of the country of Ireland. And now see again the news at 2min 55sec...
since the day this came out it was my favorite analog horror, i've always been waiting for another one with this style. If the maker of this video is reading this, please make another one
I was not expecting to be attacked with the muzak version of "Every Little Step", god I feel old. It really captures the public service channel vibe perfectly!
it would be very funny if the "missing people" where just people leaving the city, and making a bunch of other people leave the city out of fear something would happened to them, making a cycle of people leaving and "dissapearing"
YOO I LOVE THIS ALREADY, it feels less compact and i love how it’s able to slowly let the tension rise, i have a good feeling this is gonna have a lot of potential
This had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, I didn't even realize 8 minutes went by. Great job, will definitely be tuning in for future works :)
This made me miss my ancestral land of Vermont bitterly. For those who have never been, this is video is a pretty accurate representation of the climate.
The thing is it really would besides the fact that WO'83 is set in a universe nearly identical to ours besides the Fawn Circle stuff, and this is an Alternate History.
I saw the intro months ago and I gotta say, this video really met my expectations! Personally, I enjoy the length of the video and the small glitch in-between before the real climax, it's long enough to lure you into a false sense of security with small glitches to remind you exactly what you're watching, just momentarily. I'm definitely gonna be following this series closely. Congrats on a great start to your first series, I can't wait to see what's coming next!
really enjoyed this - I appreciated the time it took to get to the weirdness since, for me, it built uncomfortable tension while waiting. there are a few small things production wise you can tighten up, but otherwise this was a neat piece of content!
As someone who enjoys a good mix of real-life stuff and something on-screen like a weather report for example, this was amazing. Can't wait to see where it goes!
Quite possibly the best analog horror series I’ve ever seen on all of RUclips. I know this might be the first actual video but it was great. Long and immersive, the first time I’ve seen that done with all this analog horror stuff. Keep up the good work bro, looking forward to the next video.
I appreciate the Red Herring that was Lake Champlain. Really thought I caught something with the “access to Lake Champlain will be plentiful”, followed by the “harvest festival” with the “serve-yourself ice cream bar”, but then it turned out to be something else entirely! Truly a splendid video, and I hope there is more to come. ❤

Best analog horror I've ever seen because it never once broke the immersion and had such a great recreation of the 90s Weather Channel atmosphere. You really need to look hard enough to realize something isn't right until it suddenly is all revealed. Like shit man you gotta come out of hiatus this was great!
Hey, an actually good analog horror upstart! Keeps the mystery subtle, doesn't overdo cliches or overall creep factor, good production value, and best of all, what seems to be an original premise! I have high hopes for this.
