Thanks for this, one of the only videos I could find that told me if the machine could cut full grain leather. Everybody else is cutting faux and genuine/bonded.
You are welcome! Good luck!
your video and tutoralys are very helpfull thank you.. it made me not by somthing that was not right for the job, thank you
You are welcome!
Thanks for this. I’m new to cameo 4 and cutting machines and was so excited to make keychains for the family Xmas. And everything I was reading made me fearful of doing it. This video gives me a solid foundation.
You mention a class? Can I still view or find if??
Yes, here is the link to my Teachable site with all the Silhouette classes.....

Can the silhouette cameo 5 or the curio 2 cut tooling leather the type from Michaels? Would love a video for cutting and adding embossed, etched designs on the leather. The process. Thanks
They have the same cut capabilities as the Cameo 4.
It will be a while before I have tested and put in the hours for a new class on embossing leather with the Curio 2.
It will be very similar to the Curio 1 emboss. And I could get it to cut almost all the way through but you still have to cut by hand to finish it off.
@@SilhouetteSecrets thanks for your reply
@@darleneroach2848 you are welcome!
Can you try veg tan leather without a mat? Like if someone wanted to do a piece bigger than 24”x24”
You should never cut any material that you are cutting completely through without a mat. The thickness of the leather will determine if it will fit in the machine or not. In general, in my experience, you are going to waste your leather trying with the machine, especially something that large.
Could you make a video in how to set in silhouette Studio the cutting for real leather?
I’m really getting frustrated, because I bought this 2mm Blade exactly for this moment (portrait 3) but The machine denies to cut because something in the setting is not right… and I have no Idea why😩 please help me☹️ nobody in internet gives such information…
This shows how to create a custom cut setting for the Kraft blade....

@@SilhouetteSecrets thanks, I‘m going to try to make my own settings!!
what blade did you use to cut this stuff...I dont think I heard you mention it.
The entire video is about explaining different types of leather. Some can be cut by a cutting machine, and others that are "craft store leather" just get pushed around & never cut.
I was able to cut high quality leather but the thickness determines the blade needed. Most needs the 3 mm Kraft blade

Place transfer tape, sticky side up on your cutting mat. That holds your leather in place
Great, if that works for you and the 3 mm Kraft blade. In the many, many varieties of craft store leather I tested, it did not make a difference and the blade just pushes it around and doesn't cut clean through. Even using a brand new Silhouette strong grip mat, it still moves.
