    What’s Mexico Blue, mid-engined, revs to 9000 rpm and makes me question my “GT3 is the best” statement? The Cayman platform has finally received the RS treatment, and with that it gets the full out GT3 4.0L flat-six. The familiar RS ingredients are here, lightweight carbon fiber, huge rear wing and a track-focused purpose. Join me as we take my friend Syed's Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS for a drive and give it a full on-road review!

    Correction! I was mistaken, this car IS equipped with the magnesium wheels! My mistake. Enjoy the video!

    I’d take the GT4RS. Aside from its analog nature and visceral sound, it’s the right size, and it’s very practical with the hatchback. And I say this as someone who’s owned both. 😉

    I'm driving the GT4RS right now, same one in the video. And love it. I definitely did not expect it to be better than the GT3. But it really is. I do prefer the GT3 looks more though.

    I love everything about this build and this review. The 4RS is absolutely mental. We have a few local ones and as a former GT4 owner it's perfect all around track and street weapon.

      As a former GT4 owner its only proper for you to get one of these someday!! Glad you enjoyed the review.

    The Great advantage of GT4,beside smoller, nimble, and funnier is laggage space. The GT3 is more capable on the track mainly because bigger tires (more running costs).

    For most folks, money really matters. The regular 718 Spyder is more than enough sports car for far less money than the RS.

    Yes, its fantastic. Porsche RS cars are unique a lot of nuance to them, much more hi - fidelity than the standard GT div. products e.g. GT3 GT4.

    I have a rich neighbor (who I don't know personally) but he has the new 992 Turbo S, 992 GT3, and 718 GT4 RS. His 992 Turbo is his daily and is parked on the sidewalk a lot. The GT cars are covered mostly and he seems to use them for his special drives.

    Eddie, nice review of the GT4 RS. I've driven both a 992.1 GT3 and a GT4 RS at the PEC in Los Angeles. Both had PDK. My thoughts are that the GT4 RS, as with any RS product, is better for track work but I'd much prefer the GT3 for mostly street driving (although it's a beast on the track, too). As I already own a dedicated Honda S2000 Time Trial/Time Attack car, I'd take the 6-speed manual GT3 over a GT4 RS as a fun street/occasional track car. Plus, don't forget that the operational costs (fluids, brakes, tires, etc.) of using the GT4 RS for frequent track use can be very expensive.

    Sounds better than a GT3, but without the dual wishbone front suspension there's no way it could be better than a GT3.

    • @EddieX
      @EddieX  9 месяцев назад +1

      I agree. from a pure handling standpoint the 992 GT3 is better, but there are many other factors to consider. Size, the experience with the intake noise, mid-engined balance, etc.

    • @EddieX
      @EddieX  9 месяцев назад

      Very different feel. Especially cause pdk and not manual. On a track I’d take the GT4 RS, fun canyon road and around town I’d go for the Shelby.

  • @fredc9655
    @fredc9655 7 месяцев назад

    Never like the comparison between GT3and GT4 RS, they are so different cars RS too stiff,too loud and too serious for the road and for everyday drives, GT3 is comfy, spacious and more refined, I still think GT3 a better choice either manual or PDK if i want to really use the car in all the occasions, the RS belones only in the war.

    Eddie would you get the Gt4RS over the gt350r? And would you pick the Gt4RS over the spyder rs? I got an allocation from Porsche for one and may have to give up my gt350r for one. Thoughts?? Help.

    • @EddieX
      @EddieX  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hard choice given the GT4 RS is like 3x the price haha. If you’re willing to move on from the manual, GT4 RS is such an amazing driving experience. I haven’t driven the spyder RS, but unless you live somewhere with perfect weather 300 days a year, I think id go for the GT4 RS.

      My thoughts, too. I just built mine out and it locks next week. I did not order WP. The full carbon fiber hood looks cheap and cheesy to me. But I do know some people like it, and that is great, too. But it's funny how often I need to explain why I didn't choose WP. My answer is that I am using the $15k I saved and ordering a full Soul exhaust setup.
