It’s a bit of a hit or miss sometimes. But after using it for a few weeks I “calibrated” myself to tap in the way the iPhone recognizes the best. It’s pretty handy!
And tap lightly not heavily and at specific areas
it’s little harder to back tap depending on the case you have
@@KingCheckOut it relies on the motion of phone since there is actually no sensor on the back so it shouldn't really be affected by the case

It seems to work best when I tap at the top, more or less at the height of the camera
I added screenshot as my double tap which makes it so much easier than trying to click the volume and home button at the same time
I usually use Voice Control. Other options are Siri and an accessibility shortcut. Back tap doesn't work for me due to my case

i double tap the assistive touch for screenshot
I double tap to lock the phone
I had double tap set for flashlight and triple tap set for camera for a few months and found that sometimes when i put the phone down, the camera or the flashlight would activate on their own. I found this annoying enough to stop using this feature. I also found that with a phone case, tap actions wouldn’t work most of the time. Perhaps there’s a knack to the timing of the taps!
Just put your phone down flat…not bottom first then top where it looks like it’s tapping twice or more
@PS I think this proves that it's flawed and you have to change the way you use your iPhone just to get a feature working
@@rybugor just think maybe setting up a phone to back tap and then letting it slap on your thigh all day isn’t the smartest feature
FYI, if you don’t see “ Live Captions” under accessibility, it’s because your phone’s primary language isn’t set to English (US). This feature is still in the beta testing stage and will be rolled out to other languages soon.

Great tip, I didn’t know about that setting.
I love this feature, however I have had to disable it, it turns out I tap the back of my phone an awful lot without noticing.

I have set up the daoble back tap... and when I put down a phone on the surface (one edge touch surface first, and then the other) - iPhone recohnized that as a double tap.

I just tried it but I don’t see a use for it because the response time between the taps and the actions are too slow, and the commands offered are limiting

Ive been doing this on my android for a year now. But on my ip 14 pro max its a hit or miss. Sometimes i even need to tap it so hard as i have phone case

PRO TIP: Itsnot a hit or miss. You are jut tapping on the wrong spot! TAP ON THE SPACE BESIDE THE CAMERA PANEL nd not on the logo. It works 9/10 for me

I assigned a triple tap to show or hide the AssistiveTouch on-screen button. There is nothing more convenient than the custom AssistiveTouch features. I set a long press to take a screenshot, a double press to turn off the screen. And a single tap opens a menu where I can adjust the volume, restart the device, bring in Notification Center, Spotlight, etc.
Thanks. This inspired me to setup Assistive touch.
I think I’ve done it better. I’ve assigned double tap to Assistive touch, allowing me easily show or hide it as required. I haven’t assigned anything to triple tap, as it’s not only clumsy but also slightly increases double tap reaction time.
Coming to Assistive touch, long press (0.30 sec) is set to Lock Screen. I didn’t assign double-tap, as it increases single-tap reaction time a lot.
The single tap menu contains notification centre, control centre, screenshot, rotation lock, spotlight, shake, reachability and camera.
Now everything feels a lot faster😊.

Is it affect the battery?
I added double taps for screen shot and triple taps for lock screen so that I can prevent myself from using any button on the iPhone.

My mom is a new iPhone user and she loves taking screenshot with this feature 😂
I had to turn mine off because when I’m driving and it’s on my mount it triggers the back tap and hides my maps or will start speaking the screen because of the vibrations from driving.

I set this to quick tap and open my camera. Every single time I’ve ever tried to do it, it doesn’t work. Yet I pick up my phone or have it sitting on the passenger seat and hit a pothole and the camera comes on.
Too many Taps haha!

I don’t understand what’s this lens flares ? Is it on all iPhones ? @Apple can you provide some information on this !

I’m using the iPhone 14pro max at ios 16.3.1, Siri responds to every voice there is saying “Hey siri” and it’s really annoying, I found out that other people’s iPhones don’t do that, I’ve tried checking the settings and also disabling Siri and setting it up again but it didn’t fix the issue, any suggestions?

You forgot to mention that any case will dull the sensitivity of the phone so you will end up tapping it gently at first, to no avail, then harder and harder and harder until you give up….
Tested by yours truly with a very nice Mous cover and an Amazon clear silicon cover. Both chunky covers I admit - but I’d prefer a protected phone over another option I don’t personally use.
So there you have it another five million views lifestyle review…..

The forgotten action button
This double tap doesn’t work while screen is off…would’ve been a cool hack for the flashlight
I wonder what other features in this device people don't know about...
Tried this, very often false triggers (was set to flashlight on the double tap) had to turn off and then and then the flashlight would "turn on itself"

Focus is not one of the available options for Back Tap. You can view the available options by going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap.

Me using it since 2017 or 18 since iPhone 8
Back tap and the iPhone go to settings app then tap accessibility and again tap touch scroll all the way down then tap back tap choose a action for double tap, choose a action for tap tap tap, triple tap. And you finished press back tap back arrow and you touch triple tap to turn on accessibility shortcuts and all actions you need
But most of us use cases lol Does this work with the case on?
Can anyone let me know if i can set this back tap as a backwards button. Im not a iphone owner but im interested in getting one
