@@SimRacing604 Hope you are not disappointed! My go to currently is Silver Raw v6.4 - Momentum Rack 4.0 (they do regular updates - and some files work well with some cars and not so much with others)
This is honestly brilliant from Reiza. To make this particular car, develop the second brake pedal system and then release it for free!!! Amazing stuff 👍
This is one of the most interesting car releases from any sim for a long time now. It's amazing the huge range of cars and tracks we have available to us over lots of different sims but I had been struggling to see where AMS2 would find it's point of difference in what is a fairly packed market. If this is a sign of things to come where they will not only reproduce great cars but also implement unique mechanics I think it will definitely be a success
Matt Powell agreed about the interesting car. And as far as AMS2’s future, I’m eager to see what the GT3 launch does for sales. That and Nurburgring. Personally, those things do little for me since we have them in every other sim, but they are mainstays in sim racing and should help to boost sales
SimRacing604 Yeah I quite like GT3 cars but they are done so well in ACC that I now have little interest in them anywhere else. I’m more interested in what a sim does that isn’t available anywhere else. In fact I hope ACC continues to do very well so more developers will consider more focussed titles instead of the scattergun approach of content
"Yaw and pivot" gawd, I love it when you talk technical! 😉 Seriously, very cool. I like it when sims give us a taste of some obscure (or long-forgotten) technology.
The same system is now used in many production vehicles, from the Porsche down to Ford. Often referred to as torque vectoring, it uses the ABS on both front and rear side inner tires during cornering. A side note is that if the car is using cheap brake pads and the system is over used, say during hotlaps on a track with lots of turns, they can actually catch on fire due to the high temperatures from extreme overuse of the torque vectoring. Of course this will also eventual ruin the rotors. As an example, this occurred during a road test review with a Ford Focus ST and many Focus RS driving have experienced this too.
This is great! I wonder if they could implement the v2.0 of the Fiddle Pedal used in the 1998 season which had a selector switch to activate either the left or the right rear brake.
A good article about the system, from McLaren themselves: www.mclaren.com/racing/inside-the-mtc/mclaren-extra-pedal-3153421/ The system was super top-secret until a photographer managed to sneak his way to one of the cars after it DNFed, stuck his camera into the cockpit, and snapped a picture of the 2nd brake pedal!
A life long F1 fan, I am ashamed to say, I never knew about 2 brake pedals existence, of course apart motorcycles which I use it daily, rear brake for low speed corners/u-turns and 70%front, 30%rear for a straight line deceleration. But this decades old concept is genius.
I B time! Remember about 6 months after ACC was released, when the popularity was dipping and many people (myself included) thought that might be the end of it? But then they rebounded and are more popular than ever. Hopefully after the GT3/GT4 launch AMS2 will see an increase in popularity
@@danielfindley6931 Well any populated lobbies would be better than what we have now, kind of sad that the only places where you can drive AMS2 online is Racedepartement and simracingsystem, because they only do like 3 races a week
WW2 Russian aircraft (fighters) didn't have differential brakes. I'm sure you know this because I think you also post IL2 videos. You brake side to side by applying the brakes and using the pedals. When they developed this car, I wonder if they thought about a way to have individual left and right brakes, and depending on which way you were steering the brakes would apply harder in that direction. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about whether the course was clockwise or anti/counter clockwise. Am I way off on this?
funny you say that, as a serious Dirt Rally Player for a competitive edge I experiemented mapping the clutch to the handbrake and a low saturation with inspiration from the Mclaren. Not much benifit to it, but was a fun experiement.
Shame this system isn’t in more cars and with newer technology, it would make cars so much faster :D but maybe that’s not a good idea for safety reasons idk.
I think we have better technologies now that make this redundant. Modern DSC systems could be programmed to do this automatically (and probably do). Electronic active differentials (EG current BMW M3/M4) could probably achieve a similar effect by altering the locking ratio accordingly.
My problem is that this has showed me in not as good as Mika was/is :p this has slowed my lap times :( Amazing car to drive though as are all of them. Also i don't feel the need for custom FFB files, default is great as is.
McLaren could have gotten away with this innovation if they had picked a better name...perhaps...Dynamic Trail Braking...ya that's it, that sounds much better.
TBH, I think its total bullshit. Instead of building something like that, they should better get the late 80's F1 cars to have adjustable turbo pressure (as they had in AMS1). This is nonsens.
This is epic! This is what I expected of project cars 3!!!! I will be buying this game!!!!
Ayrton Senna sweet! Enjoy it!
Check out the custom ffb files in the ams2 General forums its scary how good the ffb can be with those. Ultima gtr is simply amazing with them.
SlowBloke I need to check that out. I’m still trying to connect with the Ultima

Mike Evans 😂😂 DAS a good idea! (Sorry, that sucked. It’s early...)

Awesome, I think AMS 2 may actually have a shot at developing into the premier sim racing game with this kind of dedication from Reiza.
Muscle memory part of my brain just exploded. Amazing concept though. Also, AMS 2 replays have the most amazing sound. Thanks for the share, Mike!
Ed Berger thanks Ed! I’m actually impressed by how easily this new pedal came to me

That’s a really cool double brake system of the late 90’s McLaren F1 V10. Goes to show there is a lot I have to learn about Motorsport history.

Needs a looot of setup work, though.
If you have the Fanatec Mclaren GT3 wheel you can use the clutch paddles

Which side of the brake does the fiddle pedal work on at suzuka?
I suppose you can probably feel it pulling to the side it works on, if you press it in a straight line. Haven't tried it yet though.

The major difference is the handbrake applies brake force to both rear tires which could over rotate the car while also increasing lap times.

It actually is the handbrake on this car by default. Sim Racing 604 has just mapped it to his clutch pedal.
