I also think the trick works better without the convincer of showing the top and bottom, if you're having fun and your spectator is laughing and smiling they don't need convincing - they're already invested in the magic. Which is why Magical Katrina is so cool in the first place because she already had Josie in that zone.
One key selling point was to show that the bottom and top of the "shuffled" deck are not key cards. As the chosen card IS on top, Katrina would have to lift and turn two cards and present as one. When I try, I find it rather difficult. So I rewound and noticed that after stopping the false move to box the deck, there was a small movement that could be interpreted as counting before she pressed the deck down to fan it out and turned it to face Josie. I guess that this is to make sure that two cards are grouped at the top so when she pulls and turns the "top card", she is turning two cards. Even more devilish is to read the revealed card and confirm "seven of diamond is not" the chosen card. These are brilliant moves.
Josie has a light and funny personality, I love magic, but I enjoy episodes where Josie is just having fun and the rest is a magical handkerchief of mystery!
This was one of my go-to techniques back in high school -- a deck of cards is easy to carry, after all. The handkerchief presentation is great, though, and I wish I'd thought to use that. I usually just used it as a way to "palm" the card back out of the box for a card to hand/pocket/etc. effect. One of my other favorites was David Blaine's Voodoo Ash reveal. I would do his version with burning paper, but I also figured out a way to make it work with chalk dust, as we still had a lot of chalkboards. The best part was that the reveal setup only required something I always had in my pocket, anyway, and was commonplace, so it never drew any attention. Well, that, and no fire. Then I just had to set up the card force. The only place I can think to do it that way now would be a pool hall using the cue chalk, but you lose the "magic" of having them write it down and either burning it or erasing it, like it has memory.
That was a fantastic trick, and I never would have figured it out without the help of video that I could run it back and watch it over and over. The double lift was smooth as butter.
You should have a smaller deck of cards so that Josie can manipulate the deck easier. Better yet, you should design and sell smaller decks for all the parents out there that want to get their kids into card tricks. Plus, the memories will be tied to your channel, to a degree, thus growing your audience.
I just realised that through my entire life this was the first time I saw a female magician and I have never noticed that. 🤯 And Katrina was excellent at both performing and teaching the trick!
I used to do a trick similar to this except i actaully used an equivocal force and used my pocket instead o9f a handkerchief. I think I like this version better. I feel like its cleaner.

I think ive seen this video before. Katrina is really awesome. Its comforting to know that Brian is still there to help with the trick. On many scam school tricks, the magician does a great trick, but doesn't do a good job at teaching it, and i got confused. Then Brian interjected and showed what was goin on and how to do certain moves, and he really was very helpful for us to learn the trick. Some people can only perform and not teach, and some cant perform very well, but can teach much better. I dont know about katrina. Lol. I didnt see any dble lifts, i need to look again. She didnt say anything about any dble lifts, Only 1 pinky brk. I love Brians love for magic. He is an awesome guy. He was cool, but crazy back in the day. His hair was cool then too. I think she being a great performer makes up for the sloppy job. I bombed really hard on my first show but at least the performance and charm made it enjoyable for everyone else. Maybe being a magician on a costume contest gave me an edge on the category I won in.

Whether you do a double-lift or not, the idea is the same: get their card to the top of the deck. We've shown how to do a double-lift many times and didn't want to complicate things for Josie.
