I myself was a Fire Explorer when I was in high school. One of the 6 original members. 3 of us had relatives in emergency services while growing up so we joined. I was the first to graduate out but chose not go into the profession full bore but maintained friendships and relationships as I had known some of the department members my whole life so we became more family. Now years later, I became a Fire Photographer in my area and am currently serving 3 departments in my county plus have access to assist 2 more when called. Great job Explorers and South Metro!!
Fire Explorer from the City of Chula Vista here, it's super awesome to see how another departments program does stuff differently from throwing PPE's and SCBA to even just the model Air Paks used.
Explorer form Montevallo Fire here, that’s one sick program you guys got! We actually had our weekend this last February at the fire college. I can’t imagine what it’s like with your facilities!
I am currently 13, my local Fire Department has a program like this, after completing your freshman year. I cannot wait to get involved with this kind of work.
Really great video. I started out as a Police Explorer in AZ. I loved it and it prepared me for the job that I loved and where I retired as a K9 Supervisor. I’m encouraging my son and daughter to join either the police or fire explorer program in my area. Once again, what a great video.
They already got the signature firefighter hip-shake :D Before I was one myself I always thought it was kinda cute - then I did it myself for 12 years - and now I tease the FD boys with it when I'm sitting in my truck on medical standby :D
This is incredible I’m a firefighter explorer with the Evanston fire department in Illinois and this is literally what I’ve done for a while now and I still get chills
Love to see a department that supports the explorer program and volunteer opportunities. There's tension between full-timers and the vollies where I am, and it definitely impacted our explorer program
Mad do I wish I had this option. Although in high school I wanted to be a computer guy in the FBI lol. Now I am half way through my paramedic school and I’m doing the academy after. I’ll never stop saying how this job truly is a blessing. Would have never thought I’d have done the things I have. Go after it!
Nice video guys, I'm a volunteer FF for forty years on LI- NY and started training our explorers in 1980's and years later it's still going strong. Some of explorers stay to become firefighters and emt's or medic's and others go off to college. But overall we do get some who stay involved for the long haul and few of them have gone on to be chief's in the dept. and others went to FDNY. It's a good program to get young people involved with the community and helping others. good job, well done !
Amazin program. In Victoria, Australia, we have a similar program for kids from the age of 13 to 16 they can learn the basic before they join the organization, Did the program before joining currently 19 and be in the service for about 6 years
Thank you all for your service and protecting the training center #SMFR #FutureExplorer #PIO #ProtectAndServe #Jobtown #FirstDue #SmootheBore #LiveBurn #FireChief
Oh much of our rescue I watch all your videos of you actually tell me a lot about firefighters I like a emergency vehicle I like paramedics police cars and firetrucks. I love all your videos your actions by me to be a firefighter when I grow up so thank you for giving us a amazing videos.
Such a neat way for youth who are thinging of a fire service career to get involved. I would love to see a day in a staff chief or chief of department or assistant chief vieo eventually.
Great video! Much respect to those explorers and the staff training them! So cool! It makes me want to move back to Colorado just to see this and South Metro in action!
Around the states they have junior programs i started when I was 14 seen lots of fire while under 18 in PA i know junior firefighters can take the basic pa fire skills aka mods and be qualified for exterior firefighting ops. The explorer program is nice tho I think the paid departments around here should do it
The hose inside the fire station garage connects the vehicle exhaust pipe to a ventilation system that vacuums fumes out of the building. It helps keep the air inside the station cleaner and safer.
The air tank beeps because it doesn't sense motion. That safety feature ensures that other firefighters will hear an alarm and react to an injured or unconscious firefighter. The motion sensors are located along the lower back waist strap and wiggling will deactivate the pre-alarm. After 30 seconds the alarm will peak at full volume and must be manually shut off using button clicks on the shoulder strap.
Many Explorers will choose to apply for firefighter positions at South Metro once they're 18-years old. Others will pursue firefighting or medical careers elsewhere, and some will decided that this career isn't what they want to do in life.
Does this course Certify you as well? I took my Fire 1 and 2 at a community college that is paired with the actual fire department so we got the full training and certifications. But as I read and am assuming I read this right, this is a highschool class so do they certify you with this course?

Hey bud ! It's the best job in the world, I'm FF 40 years and still love it, keep that interest, and just go for it !

They have an incredible program…as a former EMT and paramedic and now nurse practitioner…I would have liked a program like this…
As an active Police Explorer in IL these videos are great to see with different careers!
This looks like an awesome program for the young folks in SMFRs district. Keeps em busy and they will learn a lot!
I would love to see a Day in the life of the Fire Chief Him Self!!!!!
Pretty sure he's mostly gonna be paperpushing, aka administrative activities
I wish there was a program like this for people that got out of high school. I’m 23 and have been looking for a program like this
Most Explorer programs have an age cap at 21, but you could research volunteer firefighter opportunities near you.
As an explorer in a different state, I am looking forward to seeing how your program differs from ours.
same
Same here I'm a upstate ny fire explorer
same down here in SC in colleton
same here up in new hampshire
Same here. California though.

This looks so entertaining I can’t wait to graduate high school in a few years looking forward to being a firefighter!
Im in boy scouts we do something very similar! I love it !!
Oh much of our rescue I watch all your videos of you actually tell me a lot about firefighters I like a emergency vehicle I like paramedics police cars and firetrucks. I love all your videos your actions by me to be a firefighter when I grow up so thank you for giving us a amazing videos.

Looks like a great program.
this is an amazing program i do this with my fire department and love it
I love you
Such a neat way for youth who are thinging of a fire service career to get involved. I would love to see a day in a staff chief or chief of department or assistant chief vieo eventually.
love this need for more fire explorer videos maybe explorer ride along vids?
Thanks! If we can find an Engine with enough seating for the firefighters, an explorer and the PIO, we would definitely like to tell that story!
Awesome job guys keep up the great work
Great video! Much respect to those explorers and the staff training them! So cool! It makes me want to move back to Colorado just to see this and South Metro in action!
Grand daughter of a firefighter. Really enjoyed this video!
Thanks for watching!
Great video.
Brings me back to my first semester Fire student at Fox Valley Tech in Appleton Wisconsin

The explorer program is nice tho I think the paid departments around here should do it
Haha good to see Nate Siebert got into a south metro video
As a upstate new york explorer I'm interested to see how other departments do it
I am to!
@@robloxemergencyresponsevideos nice
They easily got the biggest explorer budget out there
When are we going to see a pio vlog again?
You should do a day in the life of the fire chief
hey i am a fire explorer in GA, do you guys go down to winterfest? that would be really cool to see you guys there if you did!!
does any one know what that “hose” is that connects to the truck is called/for?
The hose inside the fire station garage connects the vehicle exhaust pipe to a ventilation system that vacuums fumes out of the building. It helps keep the air inside the station cleaner and safer.
I have a question why do the wiggle every time the air tank beeps I think it is the air tank and is there a fire explarer progam in AZ
What happens to the cadets after they are done with the explore program
Many Explorers will choose to apply for firefighter positions at South Metro once they're 18-years old. Others will pursue firefighting or medical careers elsewhere, and some will decided that this career isn't what they want to do in life.
Can you do a fleet friday or day in the life for med 2 or day in the life for arm 37
Med 2 has a very similar job to Med 1, but we do plan to feature ARM37 in a future video.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Ok ARM37 is one of my favorite units
Video ideas:
Day in the life of a FF EMT
Day in the life of the Ahrapahoe Rescue Patrol
every firefighter in south metro is an ff/emt
As a former fire explorer from Minnesota I am piss off I did not get to do live burns
When is the next fleet Friday
Does this course Certify you as well? I took my Fire 1 and 2 at a community college that is paired with the actual fire department so we got the full training and certifications. But as I read and am assuming I read this right, this is a highschool class so do they certify you with this course?
The Explorers don't receive a firefighting certification, but their training is based on IFSTA skills so it's great fire academy prep.
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Thats still really good training, I wish my highschool had a program like that. Good luck to all of them and you!
Is it possible to do a Day in the life of a OPS chief?
It is possible, but the Ops Chief spends most of his days in the office and rarely responds to emergencies.
I’m a fire explorer in Dayton Ohio and I’m probably the youngest one in that program I’m 14
Anyone know what kind of camera was the explorer using? Thanks in advance 🤙🏻
The helmet mounted camera is a GoPro Hero Session 5.
Im joining explorers in my town!
Thank you for your future service
Same my recruitment is Sunday June 30th.
