As someone that worked at a boat shop in hs/college and now owns boats, another issue I often see is people burying there life jackets in compartments with junk over them. There should be dedicated lifevest compartments on every boat and nothing should obstruct access to those life jackets.
Great Training SMFR! I just posted my video of your recent dive Rescue at Chatfield. It was great to see the behind the scenes Training of what I filmed. Big Thanks to PIO Willie for talking at the command post.
Excellent video for the uninitiated or new person perspective. I am a former F/fighter- Medic as well as dive rescue qualified, but all of my rescue/recovery dives were all in Alaska, thus all were cold water/ ice dives and I wore fleece undies and a pretty good DUI dry suit for just about every dive!
Really neat to see. Working with CPW on their boating safety team this summer. Hope to help mitigate some of these incidents but also look forward to working with you guys if the need arrises.
Side scan sonar would help pin point the victim and speed recovery. I know this is for dramatic effect though. Nice equipment, 1000% better than we had at Summit County Water Rescue back in the 80s and 90s. Stay Safe!! lol my bad didn’t watch to the end you did utilize the side scan. We were just getting that back in the 99s it’s come along way.
In my country i apllied for this job 6 years ago i got all the checks only not hired due not have a stsble income and my son had to be born, now i live 1 minut to far away from the station. I have allmost all diver course thats why they want me. Ps in the netherlands the most houses is voulenteer firefighters thats why i live a 1 min to far. And now i got a job in a diffrent city so i cant apply anymore i never felt so empty when i was 3 years i wanted to become a firefighter now i m to old.
I know that this does not have to do anything with the dive team, but when I was listening to South Metro radio on PulsePoint I heard some one say you have reached your 20 minute mark do you want me to dispatch rehab and logistics can you tell me more about that?(it was the fire on Ida ave)
Wouldn’t they know that it is just a training exercise with no lights & sirens while responding? Someone said they have no idea that this is a training exercise.
I think they were told it was training once they were enroute. Also, depends on how close the station was to the lake. Lights and sirens don't always mean you will get their quicker.
I respect these people, but lets face it, AWP would have found this "victim" in a 1/4 of the time. 1st do side scan, then confirm with 360, then do a grid sweep seems very time consuming imo. But im also a idiot so....
It doesn't really matter. If you're waiting for the fire department to rescue a drowning victim, it's too late. There's no way to get an ETA short enough to matter.
There are many DOT exemption for fire departments including CDL exemptions and seat belt exemptions that are based on SOP and not DOT . All though you should always wear a seat belt when you can but in many cases with special services call time is money.
I’m loving these day in the life of the specialty teams keep them coming!
Wasn’t expecting a weekday upload. I hope everyone is doing well wherever or whatever is happening

Bonus points for that trailer work on the Rescue! Great work working to the boat launch.

Why doesn’t south metro work with state parks and build a small fire bait station at this lake to help reduce response times?
Thank you for your service appreciate it very appreciated it
Excellent video!
Training makes for zero mistakes when time counts!
Guys girls do fantastic job in water finding people who in trouble thanks all be safe 👍🇬🇧🇺🇲

Love the drive truck 31-16 I just love it
You mean dive 31, 32 is a tower ladder firetruck
@@connorcosgrove2240 thanks dude I just edit out on the comment
I heard this exact call on pulse point
Will you be talking about the Batt 5 MVA in your next vlog
So what happened to all the vlogs, day in the life, and station Saturday videos? I thought hiring more pios meant you’d be making more videos.
Prayers for battalion 5😊
That old girl would look 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 with a set of new LED lights
what do you use to edit?
We edit on Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut. This video was all on Premiere Pro.
Seemed like more of a recovery than a rescue even if it was just a training exercise
It's always a recovery, unfortunately. The "person" was last seen 30 minutes prior to the boat launching. No chance of survival.
@@jaredbasic5743not necessarily, especially if the water is cold enough, even up to 90 minutes a person can still be resuscitated.
Do the divers have 7/800 radios in the water? Or do they use wired intercom type systems?
Kinda weird responding lights and siren to a body recovery
How would you like to respond. Stop for lunch first……
@@tg5298 well a corpse at the bottom of the lake isn’t going anywhere
If it's a cold-water drowning, there's cases for survival. You're not dead until you're warm and dead...

A DAY IN THE LIFE- DIVE RESCUE
@southmetrofirerescue any updates on station 15?
I am actually a rescue 🛟 swimmer for the us coast guard reserve unit

Where pio blog
Why are the divers standing in the truck? Wtf
Hi
No lights and Q.😊
Get them actually going on a dive call instead of a drill

Nice
Prayers to BC5.. 🙏🙏
Love these dive videos, keep them up!!
how is it legal for them to not be riding in a seat with a seatbelt?
bc if a car hits them it wont do as much damage and they have to get ready really quick
