  • Welcome to "Town Hall: A Black Queer Podcast", where themes are explored through storytelling, music, poetry, and art, traversing depths of emotion and humor alike. Join hosts Bob and Peppermint as they embark on a deep dive into the world of polyamorous relationships. In this episode, they engage in enlightening conversations with two remarkable guests. First, Marco Dias (@marcoisfromvenus), aka St. Marco, a nonbinary hair stylist and poet originally from Brazil now residing in Dublin, Ireland, shares their journey of decolonization, leading to an embrace of polyamory for a more authentic way of loving and living. Then, Ianne Fields-Stewart (IG @thefreeactorvist, TikTok @lesbianneluvr), a multi-hyphenate creative at the intersection of art, activism, and pleasure, sheds light on the logistics of navigating multiple romantic partnerships while advocating for living without shame, culminating in Bob and Peppermint's own reflections on polyamorous love. Tune in for a thought-provoking exploration of polyamory infused with candor, curiosity, and compassion.

    Loved this discussion. I normally don't comment on videos but this one got me. I have two partners who i love we all live together and are in a triad situation. I love that folks get to see that it is not about sex it is about connection and relationship and not conforming to society norms, but also knowing you should do what feels right and honest to you. I became poly through self discovery and at first i did not put a label on it, i just knew i loved more then one person and i should not have to justify my love. Everyone has the right to be happy!

    My attachment style had me considering a *polyam relationship/ being ENM.
    I appreciate people who can truly hold space to be in romantic partnership with multiple individuals.

    I'm polyamorous in principle because I don't believe in monogamy, which has never worked for me when I tried it. I say in principle because I'm quite happy being single.
    The problem with polyamory tho is that not many people are. Have a friend going through a messy divorce, kid and all because the husband (he's not queer) fell in love with another woman and she made him choose. It's kind of heartbreaking.
    I look forward to a time when this choice is respected and normalized.

    OMG Preach!!! 👐 You put into words exactly why I hate the term "female"! I've tried to explain it to people but could never explain it this eloquently! Thank you both!!! ❤

      And I'm ashamedly taken aback by how emotionally mature your guests speak about love. Far more mature than most cis-hereto couples TBH. It does take incredible self-awareness to know yourself this well.
      I have known several thruples and they did not talk about being poly this way, it was full of drama and what not. 🙄

    Recently moved into a house with a married couple in an open / poly relationship (not including me), and I gotta say talking about it with them and watching them work their way through things is very interesting. I’m not a super romantic or jealous type, I don’t even really date, but from what I’ve seen the hard feelings are real when you hear about your life partner hooking up what some random fling for the first time! Love to hear the different perspectives, not surprised indigenous peoples have been doing poly relationships for the longest time already!

    I cant wait to see part 2! As a queer, nonbinary individual who has been in polyamory for 7 years now I love hearing about peoples experiences and seeing how they navigate their relationships. I love seeing how people enjoy their relationships and how everything works for them. I love being able to think on my own relationships Ive had and think about how I can improve in my own relationships. I really cant wait to see the next part to this. I love this podcast and its hosts. 🖤👑 Keep up the great work you guys are both amazing!

    This is such good timing! I have been discussing Polyamory with a few other friends and what our views on it are. I'm also thinking of getting back in the dating scene soon so I'm defining exactly what I want and how to phrase it.

      That's the same thinking that will make someone believe that an individual can speak for anyone within their identity group
      If they were talking about race and it was all black people there and Bob had the same notice posted , would it be confusing then ? Or do all black people think the same ??

    Poly is short for Polynesian, Polyam is short for what you're discussing. Using Poly as the acronym makes it harder for Polynesians to find content specific to them and has been discussed on social media to tag things as correctly as possible so things are reaching the right audiences and people aren't being silenced or pushed down in algorithms.

    • @bloom4451
      @bloom4451 6 месяцев назад +1

      i appreciate what you're trying to bring attention to, but instead of trying to redefine a widely known shorthand I think being content with the fact that people can simply type out the extra 6 characters for "polynesian" will bring more peace

    • @adammoms
      @adammoms 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@bloom4451 this is hypocritical because you could easily type out polyamorous as well. Poly has been the shortened version of Polynesian well before the word polyamorous entered the lexicon
