    In Today's video I am highlighting some of the biggest cringeworthy mistakes that new and old Oculus Quest users make. Hopefully this video
    is helpful to ANYONE with an Oculus device (Rift S, Rift, Quest 1). From EchoVR spamming, causing bad tracking, playing with a link cable on an old dusty laptop or PC, there are some mindblowing mistakes on this list.

    My channel is about VR Content (obviously lol) I've covered many topics on this channel in the past such as PC Building, PC Gaming Knowledge, Gaming News. That can be CPM rates, Industry knowledge, Business knowledge, how to edit, how to build a gaming PC, budget or not. But VR is cooler so I'm probably gonna keep doing that.
    I'm like the monkey you send into space for tests. I just come back with the results and give them to you for FREE.

    7:06 I don't own a Quest 2(or even a VR headset in general yet), but I can tell you why the elite head strap breaks. It's due to the rigid design of the head strap. Most people, when taking off the HMD pull it upwards. And just looking at the design of the elite head strap, the back of it is designed to hold the strap in a rigid position. The black part that wraps around the back of the head tries to keep the strap solid using the base of your skull to do this. Which causes the rigid design of the strap to receive undue stress on the bottom side when the HMD is pulled upwards(most notably at the contact point where the strap meets the far more rigid back piece). And thus causes it to eventually start to "tear" in pretty much the same spot every time. A cloth strap is better for this due to its inherent flexibility which allows it to be pulled upwards. So I would add that one should not buy the elite head strap ever so long as it's made solid and inflexible(at least in an up and down motion).

      Makes sense I've had my elite strap for a while now and it's fine also some people say it's from people pulling on it like how you do with other headsets

      @butcherjsy8 2 года назад +2

      Exactly, you have to turn the dial at the back to loosen it first.

    • @potatomustdie3959
      @potatomustdie3959 2 года назад +2

    Just bought a Quest, bought a link cable and even picked up Virtual Desktop as these two options in addition to air link as they all have their own pros and cons. Air Link has been seamless in allowing me to virtually use my desktop ( a feature I didn't think I would use, and now I can't imagine living without it) while Virtual Desktop has seemingly been the most seamless way of playing PCVR games, despite the weird glitches or lag due to bandwidth. As for the Link Cable (I went third party for this thankfully) I find it to have given me the smoothest experiences while in PCVR and definitely the best fidelity. That being said not being able to charge the device while it is being used feels like a travesty, and makes me wonder how hard would it have been to design cable that could allow for this.

    Sadly, I have to disagree with this one. While it might work for you to do it that way, I have had trouble trying to rely on the middle top strap (keeping in mind this is the way I first tried to do it). It moving even a little can make the view that you see, very blurry. No matter what I tried while relying on that middle strap, was that the oculus always sat just slightly too low on my face. Shortening the top strap doesn't raise the oculus up either, it just raises the strap itself because obviously the oculus is heavier than the strap. So it's always going to lean down toward the headset unless you tighten that backstrap enough to keep the thing where it needs to be. And to do that, it's likely going to be somewhat on the tight side.
    Also, I think it's safe to say that if it's happening for a lot of people, then it's probably more than people not just knowing how to use the strap properly and is more likely that it just doesn't work well for some people.
    I will mess with it more on my end, but I have messed with it so much already as it is. Who wants to mess with a dang head strap for hours instead of playing?

      Honestly that's not that cringe.
      There's no warning on the package unless you go through the quick-start (which out of habit a lot of people don't do), telling you to take it easy and give it a few times to get used to it. Playing something that makes you want to vomit isn't fun in the slightest, and if folks don't know they can acclimate, why would they just assume that out of the blue?
      I don't get motion sick, but If I was someone who did, I would never have bothered, because flatscreen gaming is good enough for me and has been for like 20 years.

    • @SwiftSN
      @SwiftSN 3 года назад +9

      I've seen this way too often. Maybe I just do too much research, but motion sickness isn't permanent. It's something you get used to over time. You shouldn't jump into Boneworks as your first game, for example; that'll just make you motion sick in the first 10 seconds. Play something like beatsaber or a stationary game first.

    • @DFX2KX
      @DFX2KX 3 года назад +3

      @@SwiftSN I did that research, but a lot of people don't. And that's the problem. Facebook markets the thing to everyone but then assumes the person pulling that Quest out of the box is at least a passing VR enthusiast and knows to take it easy at first.

I can run steam VR, and most low-resource VR games fairly flawlessly. But even my rig runs into issues with games like Star Wars squadrons in VR. I plan on upgrading the GPU eventually, and I may also upgrade the processor shortly after that. But right now to do so would cost more than I spent on the entire PC. And I just don’t have the cash on hand to do that. So I will live with the imperfections for now until I can. Hopefully my learning to code will pay off for me.

    The most cringe worthy thing is when someone dosnt use the wrist straps and throws a controller through a wall or breaks a tv! OOF!

    The biggest cringe worthy thing I have ever seen is my friend taking his hand straps of and not knowing how to put them back on. And the amount of times he has thrown his controller at a wall is hilarious

      I keep mine on, even if they are a bit uncomfortable.

      one time I was playing roblox vr (without the hand straps) and I was climbing in game and I accidentally swung my arm too fast where I lost grip of my controller and it got flung directly into my monitor. yikes.

    Honestly , I use the default strap and it works perfectly fine on me. Even after long playsessions it doesn't hurt my head, even when it is very tight.

    the only problem i have with airlink is that right now my quest 2 cant find my pc, and my room isnt big enough for a comfortable play style that includes a cable.
