For the part where you talked about using the quest outdoors, I've tried it , Nothing have been damaged (i hope so) but the experience was really bad , When the sunlight faces the cameras on the quest the hands tracking COMPLETLY stops and the hands stay on their last position you need to rotate your self to somewhere where the sunlight doesn't face the cameras on the quest
@@Trenty_Boi just as using it in a room , when sun light or any really bright light shine at the cameras of the oculus it will lose tracking of your hands and your position , if there is some light around it might not have issues tracking
@@Trenty_Boi yeah if you are playing in somewhere that is pitch black the oculus will have issues tracking , it has night vision but it is not really effective in this situation as its not meant to be used in a pitch black ⚫ area

I upgraded from a Rift S to Quest 2 and am very happy! Currently deployed so I am enjoying the standalone part, but when I get back this will be my main PCVR headset and am super excited. My question is, why do people freak out when it comes to hooking up to a computer? I feel like it expands and enhances our ability to enjoy VR by adding more features to the already awesome Quest 2. Especially if I am able to play Steam VR games with better graphics than my Rift S on a smaller device. Thanks for your channel, it has been fun randomly finding it and looking through your stuff!
alot of people who own a quest 2 don't have a (semi)powerfull pc which is often needed for pcvr which then leads to them being scared that they can't do something because they only have a cheap laptop
@@Runtergesprungen oh that makes sense!! My perspective comes from the opposite, I didn't see it that way. I will say, it's been good playing with native Quest 2 apps and games, they run really good for what you get, but I am excited to get back to PCVR as well and play some of those games

Don't think we don't notice :] Also developer mode has been freaking out for a bunch of people (including me) where even after you do everything right, the option to turn dev mode on in your oculus app doesn't show up. I'm like 75% sure facebook knows about this and is trying to fix it as we speak, though.
Would love to get one of these. But my IPD is just outside the upper average range. And Rift only covers the middle 70% +/- of the average IPD range. I hope they will fix this in the next headset.

One thing i wanna say about your claims of using "any pc" for sidequest - you need to run windows 10 to install sidequest. There's probably a way to do it on a chromebook, too, because those run linux, but if you're using a chromebook you probably don't know how to use linux.
I have an older laptop and the sidequest program won't finish loading because my laptop doesn't have high enough specs. And its not that bad of a laptop. Been waiting to afford a simple desktop to use specifically for my quest. But for now I'm quite limited on what I can do. I'd like to see a video of you showing how to do more advanced connection between quest and phones.

@The Fantastic J yes multiple times. Every time it finishes the download and when I try to get into program it says my specs are too low. Processing and ram. And won't let me actually load it.
The oculus rift home is in the quest 2 hardware, before all apps are loaded into the menu and it says all “(3)”, in Unknown Sources, rift home is there, but is unopenable
IMO the Home was heavily de-prioritised because in general VR Home environments became really pointless when mostly people wanted to just get into their games or apps. SteamVR Home especially is mostly bloatware. But with Metaverse shenanigans gaining on us in the past year, I'm sure they will bring it back.
ive only used my oculus quest 2 outside at night with two lights on me. it was an amazing experience being able to do the full area possible, i believe it was something like 14ft by 14ft. that seems to get rid of the sunlight issue!

Idk the technical limitations but since it is a android device they should just make any apk easily installable via the device u.i...you don't need to sideload uknown apks in your phone, you can install them...
As far as sideloading if you’re an old geyser like me and want to relive the glory days of Doom 3 and Half-Life 1, both can run natively on the quest via great ports (you just have to own the original game files)
@@jazzling No all port means is to bring something over. In this case bringing Half Life and Doom 3 from the PC to the Quest 2 hardware. It natively runs as in it's all done from the Quest hardware itself and not through a PC.
I already know how to use aplications when connected to my desktop. So, my question is, when sideloading, do u still have to be tethered to the PC even though it's downloaded to the quest or can you unplug your headset from the PC and still use Discord ?

If you shine a flashlight on your controller, you'll lose tracking quite easily. Most tracking problems outside can be solved by finding a shaded area
also not a good idea to play outside as the sun can burn the screen through the lenses

With dev tools you can turn off the guardian boundary
I think it’s like 14 in all 4 directions. It’ll stop you at 14 feet from the center but you can go 14 more feet the opposite way
