MARTHA QUINN, ALAN HUNTER, NINA BLACKWOOD & MARK GOODMAN - "THE ORIGINAL MTV VJS" ARE ON FACEBOOK ! - / mtv80svjs Follow Up Video to "Welcome To The Boomtown"
I'll admit I've never heard this song. Very good. Of course who doesnt know "Boomtown". I'll have to download or revisit this CD/Album. Were one of both of these guys on Sheryl Crows Tuesday Night Music Club? Not sure.....
The Day this Album Came out I bought one copy went home listened. Went back to the Record Shop and bought 7 more copies and spent the day giving them to friends Such a Great Album.
A great album about the struggles of being young and trying to find yourself through experimentation with drugs, alcohol while also trying to figure out how to balance relationships, romantically and otherwise at the same time. This album really hit home for the 26-year-old me back then. It’s a dam shame these two guys weren’t able to give us more of this awesomeness for whatever reason(s).
I was a teenager when album this came out. I listened to it over and over on cassette and half-assed understood the lyrics. Now at 53, I'm desperately trying to avoid being swallowed by the cracks. Don't waste your youth kids, but understand that some lessons really can only be learned by living through them.
D*mn , isn't that the way it always goes : first the mistake , then the lesson 😊 ; Also 53 in a few months time - - this song sure brings back the teenage years - - good ol' David & David 😊
A broken heart still remains from 2008 from LA..Many years later, I bought this LP with a cool t shirt from Germany. But never manage to heal my broken heart...I went home to the east coast.. Never looked back...Thank you for your kind words.
I loved this song when it came out when I was 16. I understood the lyrics, but only over time have they resonated deeper and deeper as life goes on. I view it differently now, as a reluctant insider. And I still love it.
@@donnieshelton591Stupidity and greed, also. Guess they had to keep up with the times. Do they even play music anymore? Every time I'm channel surfing that dumb ass "Ridiculousness" or whatever it's called is on.
Glad that they got plenty of play on WXRT in Chicago, great reflective music that was amongst the best of the era. I'm bummed they didn't record any more.
@@dougmiller7643 Actually, David Baerwald did release a solo album a year or two after this called Bedtime Stories that is as good if not better than this one. Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/NnhG_8XuvxA/видео.html
David Baerwald went on to help Sheryl Crow record her first album and then had a number of solo albums that were largely ignored but damn good. Theyre on iTunes.
Great album. I found a promo Quiex II vinyl copy several years ago at a very small music store. The musicianship, lyrics, and vocals are of high standards. They should have been bigger
If One Direction etc recorded this now it would be a massive hit. Yet back in 86 it wasn't. I just don't get it. I bought it back then and it still stands up as a near perfect song. (Well that's what I think anyway!)
Yeah.. unfortunately, looked at the David & David article on Wikipedia just now (May 2023) and the following was added: "The project has since stalled, with no plans to resume."
Totally agree with @raymoore1397. My very favorite album of all time. I've replaced it so many times due to damage during moves etc. There simply isn't a bad song on the album. In my mind it has absolute brilliance up there with Sinead and Terence Trent D'Arby's debut albums. But still my ultimate favorite is D + D! My birthday (won't mention which one) is this weekend and my only request from my kick ass husband David (yup married one too) is this album once again. LOVE
David + David are in the process of recording a new album together - no kidding! If you're interested, go to Facebook, and type in this url: NOTE: For all David+David-type postings please go to facebook.com/davidanddavidmusic/ Please, press like and spread the word!!

One of the greatest albums ever recorded
+P WHJ No question!!!!!!
+Dan Lipowski absolutely! every damn track.
+tamala521 It never lets you down! I still listen to it. Loved these guys! Love your comment, every damn track!
yes it is..so pure and real..."You stay out when you don't believe" so true..
.
I wasn't even 10 years old when this was released, but ya, it's one of the greatest. Certainly one of the best one-hit-wonders.
This entire album is beautiful, haunting and timeless.
I'll admit I've never heard this song. Very good. Of course who doesnt know "Boomtown". I'll have to download or revisit this CD/Album. Were one of both of these guys on Sheryl Crows Tuesday Night Music Club? Not sure.....
@@ShawnConrad-tw8duI heard it on the radio back in the earliest days and weeks of 1987,but never since.
Well said and agreed
Maybe the greatest song most people have never heard.
Yup
Quite possibly the most underrated band and album ever.
The Day this Album Came out I bought one copy went home listened.

My favourite duo. What an album "Boomtown" was & still remains....
got it on vinyl
@@thomasjensen9745 seriously jealous!!

Brings back great memories
LA is a city of broken dreamers and Welcome to the Boomtown captured that vibe perfectly. Nothing has changed about LA since they recorded this song.
A broken heart still remains from 2008 from LA..Many years later, I bought this LP with a cool t shirt from Germany. But never manage to heal my broken heart...I went home to the east coast.. Never looked back...Thank you for your kind words.
One of the very best albums of the 1980s.
A brilliant and underrated album.
Yep , a stand out in its day , and still strong today
Wonderful studio... production sound
Pop music that's all grown up !!
@@tamaking2374 i talked briefly with one of the davids on facebook,,,,he said it still gets played on AO stations,,,the younger david
I was 21 in 1986 commuting to NYC every morning to work listening to this on my walkman. Ha !!
Me too! On the Walkman.
I'll never forget their music and my memories in the 1980's..
DAVID + DAVID BOOMTOWN ALBUM, COMPLETY ROCK AND ROCK. ❤❤❤❤
I loved this song when it came out when I was 16. I understood the lyrics, but only over time have they resonated deeper and deeper as life goes on. I view it differently now, as a reluctant insider. And I still love it.
Whatever happened,, these dudes had awesome tunes
I still listen to this album regularly. Sounds timeless to me.
Boy this song is one lost classic
Gettin' drunk with a stranger and singing along with the juke box...
That lyric hits!
I’ve got this album. It’s brilliant.
This song describes adult relationships so well especially adults dealing with middle age these boys were so ahead of their time
brought it all back 86 only 21 . where did it go . best time , happy
Me too.
Wish I could travel back in time to 1986 when MTV had great stuff like this. My favorite album of all time!
Rap ruined MTV.

Thank you for posting a very under rated song!!!!
Revisiting the 80s its the first (actually, now second after I played it a few days ago) time I've heard it since then.
Welcome to the Boomtown too!!
Glad that they got plenty of play on WXRT in Chicago, great reflective music that was amongst the best of the era. I'm bummed they didn't record any more.
doodad1 ,
I was very surprised they didn't get more air time on FM radio and make more albums.
Miss WXRT. 93.1 always played good music back.
A very sore place in my being when I found out there was only one album. That is so hard to believe. Eternal sadness over this.

great singers!!!!!!!
I still have my album and play it all the time.
Great album! Every song!
Baerwald and rickett hit it out of the park great album. Bedtime stories also
Thank you soo much for this, incredible band, incredible time!
One of the most original underrated songwriters. He composed the main song in Moline Rouge.
Where are they now, this whole entire album was awesome.
Dam! Bless us with their sound, then leave everyone hungry for more.

I know the song. Did not know it was from '86. Great song.
Que música es una de mis favoritas
i've always loved them.
So many good songs
Great LP. ❤
Totally undergraund❤
Had the good fortune to see them live in '86 at the now defunct Town Pump, in Vancouver, BC.
Great album loved it!!
Yep...amazing album

Good fucking tune. Bought Boomtown on vinyl for a buck and its one of my favorite records to spin.
Everlasting: Hymn
Heard the album way back when I was at a party, loved it straight away. An underrated album, captures youth and the 1980s very well.
Thanks for posting this. I only saw it one time back in the day. Great tune.

@@trysometruthThey may just be the greatest "One-Album Wonder" ever.
Video has all the right levels of thumping and jiggling.
It’s a shame you can’t get album in Spotify
jeffrey crain can now
Zach Galifinakis on bass ... what a talent!
and they were never heard from again !!!!?
Only if you didn't keep with them heads up there's this thing called the internet
“While I became this drunken old whore!” Such a great line and beautifully and poignantly delivered

they sure make strip clubs look good :) let's go listen to the jukebox at the stripclub; just as american as apple pie..................
Awsome album....why didn't they get really famous? Was it internal problems or really shitty promoters?
Absolute crap.
let's hear your song. that's what i thought.
I have been looking for this for a long while thank you!
