Same as the ''chad'' meme originally being used by incels to make fun of conventionally attractive men, the counterpart of ''staceys'' which are conventionally attractive women.
It wasn't used to make your appearance better, it was used to mock those that were conventionally attractive. I don't see it as a negative thing to want to present yourself better, but you should stick to things that are actually backed by reliable studies and sources instead of psuedoscience (somehow changing your bone structure isn't exactly possible without surgery or a freak accident).
There is no credible research for mewing when it comes to permanent or muscle changes to your body but keep doing what makes you happy king.

I'd like to state that there is genuinely good advice under the looksmaxxing umbrella, that can genuinely make you more attractive, however, its so basic and obvious that it cant be monetized by scummy people (eg. facial skin care, using cologne, having good posture).
When the basic advice that works is already stated, they start with stupid stuff like bonesmashing or eyelid-pulling.
Also unrealistic expectations are set by them, there is no weekly or monthly transformation, it genuinely sometimes takes years to see satisfactory results, as with mewing for instance.
(EDIT: The crabwalk thing is real, crabmaxx with us.)
Ye I agree, after all looksmaxxing literally means maximising your look, emphasis on *YOUR* because some of the really bad advice is literally people trying to change their intrinsic features by breaking their facial bones, changing their eye colour and etc.
If anyone does happen to want to improve their posture while sitting at a computer... gonna wanna have the monitors up a lot higher than where Kurtis has his! Needs to be at least eye level for when you're sitting up straight. When you have to look down at a monitor, it's hard not to slouch. I literally went digging through the back of a supply closet at work to find old regulation handbooks and things to stack under my monitor stands at work. Getting them up to eye level has helped a good bit. I still slouch a bit too much, but less than I used to and not as severe of a slouch.

As a woman, its very weird for me to observe the looksmaxxing community bc all the techniques have origins in "looksmaxxing" for women. Mewing, guasha for slim neck and defined jawline (not guasha as a whole obvi), jawline exercises that make you look like a fish? been there done that like 8 years ago and i guarantee they are older than that.

Oh my god yes- I never could sleep on my back so I was just like I guess I'll have a lopsided face, but I heard when I was a teen that you have to sleep with a bra on to keep your boobs 'perky'. I had an A cup to begin with but still did it anyway. It was so uncomfortable and I don't even know how I managed for so long
