Join Sean Finelli, CEO of The Tour Guy and formerly one of Rome’s top tour guides, as he takes you through how to see Rome in a day. Follow our tips about how to plan out an action-packed day in Rome that includes the Vatican, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Colosseum, Roman Forum and more.
Start your day early with a skip the line tour of the Vatican museums and the Sistene Chapel, and then on to clime the dome at St. Peter’s Basilica on your own.
Next, we show you how to take a 5 minute metro trip to visit the Spanish Steps, another iconic landmark in the heart of Rome.
After all that sightseeing, it's time for a break! Time for a quick slice of pizza or delicious sit-down lunch of pasta and wine at a local trattoria.
With renewed energy, we set off for the Trevi Fountain, one of Rome's most popular tourist attractions, with tips for navigating the crowds and getting the best views of this stunning Baroque masterpiece.
Don’t miss the Pantheon, a stunning temple that dates back to the 2nd century AD. We take you inside to marvel at the impressive dome and explore the rich history of this architectural masterpiece.
Next, a visit to the iconic Colosseum, where we take you on a tour of the ancient amphitheater and share some fascinating historical facts. From there, we move on to the nearby Roman Forum, a sprawling complex of ruins that was once the center of political and social life in ancient Rome.
From ancient ruins to stunning fountains and delicious food, Rome truly has something for everyone.

I'm italian and I live in Rome, one thing I can say is that even though I see all these places almost everyday, I never get tired of them. they keep their magic. A little advice, visit Rome at night, it's a whole different experience. Ofc not the vatican and the museams. Enjoy and thanks for the kind words about Rome
Roma è Roma
Hi sir how's you what do business I give you one busnes from India
I´m a Danish woman in my 50´es. Since my trip to Sicily in 78, I have been crazy, madly in love with Italy and, of course, Sicily. For my 60th birthday, I have planned a vacation in Rome. I´m looking forward to see your amazing city. Of course, my husband and I must also experience bella notte de Roma!
Completely agree. St Peter's Basilica and the Colosseum at dusk and night without the crowds was fantastic, not to mention the colours were much more interesting.
What places are worth and not worth visiting in Rome?
A day, a week, a month...Rome is truly magical. I've gone three times and I'm itching to go again.
Stop throwing the coin in the fountain :)
Vieni Leila
Hows the food??
@@horseplop9 . it seems to be Italian.... but I wouldn't know....
we just came back from a one week trip ... i could cry thinking about it , it is a magical place and i miss it already , one day is not enough even a week wasnt enough
Ciao! It really is a magical place! We are glad you enjoyed your time in bella Roma!
I’m about to go to Rome for the first time for a week. Should I spend the whole time in Rome, or would you recommend doing a day trip to Florence too?
We took 3 different tours with this company and absolutely love all 3. We did the Colosseum, the catacombs and a wine and food tour. We then did a bus tour of Italy and Sicily. Those 3 tours with the tour guy were the best!
I travel more than the average man, especially around Italy. I have visited Florence many, many times yet still have so much to see. It is only when you get totally lost down the side streets of Florence, Venice, Rome, Bergamot, that you begin to savour the richness, sweetness, the magic of all that Italy is.
One day? I've been in Rome hundred of times and everytime find something of wonderful, 1.000 Churches, 2.000 Fountains, Squares, Street, Building incredible beautiful...I need two life for knowing all Rome
Nice.
Very clear and informative tour guide. Indeed, I had been to Rome six years ago. Our family plan to visit Rome again this early May. We are excited to watch your video. Good job, Roman Guy 👍👍👍
Thank you. Check out updated guide ruclips.net/video/fxRJ6D4joRs/видео.htmlsi=lZZfdfcSefFDZGCl
I cannot thank enough that stumbled upon your video. Your videos are extremely helpful and that map feature is amazing. Thank you, Roman Guy
To be clear were you walking this whole path?
How possible would this be walking? My main attractions are a shopping mall coliseum and buildings there since BC.
in a day it's onusien .
I've lived in Rome for 4 years, and i haven't visited it all. Good luck 😁
If you still have energy tho, you can walk to Trastevere and stop there for the dinner. It’s a fabulous area of Rome and there are the best restaurant/trattoria of Rome.
If you in Rome one day this is okay but Rome is huge and there is so much to see that you need weeks! Rome is definitely my favor city in the world.
Ciao Alberto! Truer words were never spoken :) However, we do our best to come up with cool itineraries that are easy to follow and showcase the essential Rome to a visitor who is tight on schedule.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thank you!
Did this tour yesterday. We are happy to have taken the tour. Will definitely take your other tours in the future! Already have recommended to friends and family!
Thanks for joining us. We appreciate it.
I followed the same itinerary spread over a span of 2 days and fell in love with the city. 1 day would be very tiresome but if you don't have time go ahead with this one.
1 recommendation for food buffs with limited time in the city. If you are at termini (the main train station in Rome) do visit the Mercato Market. You'll find a little bit of everything there to tick all italian food items on your bucket list :)
Went there on June 2018 for 3 days in Rome and 1 in Naples/Pompeii. And that wasn't enoug back time. I recommend guided tours as they will explain a lot of interesting factoids along the way. If at all possible do 3 days at least, consider Air BnB if money is an issue. I've been to many places and this is the one I can't wait to go back to
I love Rome i wash there in May 2017 I think Rome is one of the most beautiful city's in the world.
the best for me in europe...
Very informative video! I will follow your advice. I'm actually in Rome for 6 days, but want to get as much done as possible during that time.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I’m trying to squeeze this one day trip in from my stay in Barcelona. This is perfect!
Enjoy Barcelona! We hope you come back
Very helpful to see your map and minutes to walk around the different sites!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Honestly watched many videos about Rome. Yours is by far the best, ive also watched some of your other videos . You are really good very straight to the point, organized and a lot of fun. its like watching a nice short movie. Keep them coming
I'm so excited! We'll be there next month!
Cool. We can’t wait to have you on one of our tours. Check out our latest Rome video: ruclips.net/video/fxRJ6D4joRs/видео.htmlsi=uSZJvh9uoL0YzBOa
I'm Roman and live in Rome and still didn't see it all. There's so many things if you like art architecture and history that you'll never finish to learn. 2800 years stratified in one city
Going to Rome on Tuesday and will be doing this route! So glad I found this channel!!!! It's my first time to solo travel and I'm doing a diligent research!
Thanks so much. See you in Rome!
Coming to visit Rome again this september. Wish me luck!!

Great video...Planning on getting there September...If we plan any tours will give you guys a shout...Mist likely The Vatican😍
Thanks. See you in Rome
Yes, I really thought you had to climb the rest of the way up using the rope and I was like “Oh, hell no!” So, you got me, lol! This is probably the most helpful video I’ve seen on how to navigate Rome. It seems like there’s a lot to see within walking distance. Can’t wait to go to Rome!!!
Me and my husband took a tour with you guys in September 2018 and we loved it!! We took the earliest tour and it was awesome!!
We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us!
Amazing!!!We are going to Rome first time ever in August, can't wait!!!Your video is very useful!Thank you😊
You are great! Thank you for your hard work. I know what is that . Go to Rome when back to US from another country I visit for a month but have to stop at Rome.
What an awesome video. I am going to watch it over and over to set my itinerary!
Just found your channel..great content...we'll be in Rome next year!

Thanks for the tips! very informative :)
Going on my first trip from Los Angeles to Europe and I'm nervous for some reason this video is so helpful thanks.
Ciao Brian! You are going to have a blast! Don't be nervous! If you find our videos helpful, check out out travel blog theromanguy.com/category/italy-travel-blog/rome/
Cannot wait for our tours with you in October!
Thank you!!! You saved me so much time. I followed all your stops and I was able to see Rome in a day :P
You did NOT see Rome in a day, you idiot. And what you did see, you only SAW, but never felt and experienced.
@@djmotise chill out mate the mans just showing his appreciation. Jesus Christ.
@@djmotise >.> If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.... Jerk...
Luis l, did you walk between stops? We're going next summer and getting ideas now.
Very useful video! It's so difficult to visit a huge city like Rome in one day...you guys were amazing! All the highlights in just one day. I will totally recommend this video to my friends.
Going to Rome in March. I can't wait to explore, and I definitely want to do the early entry Vatican tour with The Roman Guy.
@@TheTourGuyVids I went online to book the Early Access Vatican Gold tour, but the promo code you gave me was invalid. Is there a new code that will work?
Thank you so much for the video! We are planning a cruise for next summer and wanted to know how to get around the city and how to see all of the important places on each stop of the cruise. This video was very informative. Thank you!
If you haven’t tripped and fell did you even visit Rome???
How can be book a day tour with your company ? Also what will be the fee for a whole day? Kindly let me know as i am planning to visit Rome in few weeks.
Don't forget to mention you saw our RUclips: thetourguy.com/tours/rome
Very Helpful. Thanks'!
Glad it was helpful!
Howdy "The Tour Guy" I'm planning on a trip to the land of food and art and more wine in Oct for our Honeymoon... (Belated trip) but there you go. Any tips or advice for the 2nd week of October besides rain gear and a good jacket?.. Molte grazie in anticipo con un accento texano nella voce🤠
Check out our videos. Let us know if you have any questions. Check out our blogs for more info. Our website is also full of great tour options. Happy Travels.
I started at the Forum and ended at the dome of St Peters. Mistake. Vatican museums close early. So went back later. Also take food and drink in a haversack if you do everything in a day.
Love it! Roma é meravigliosa.
What happy song is this? Saluti di Brasile.
I’ll be going to Rome next month with my family. The last time I was there was 10 years ago but wasn’t able to explore much coz of lack of time. When you go around these significant landmarks, are there signs on the streets to tell you where it is? I remembered before I saw signs/directions around the Spanish steps that tells which to go for Trevi Fountain.
Yes there are
Been to Rome loved it also loved your video showed me the things I missed
Last time , I had five days which I treasured but you really need 10 years !!! Going back in 2022 , Deo Volente!
Nice video, the way you highlight the locations on a map is really smart, I am visiting Italy mid September next year.
I really love your stuff. Just wanna say: keep it up!!! you really go the distance for your video's. it's appriciated!
Planning to go to Rome in July 2023. The places shown in this VDO is it all exhaustive or are there any other places to see in Rome? Can anyone please confirm.
The thing I love about Rome is that it has so many layers. In it, you can follow anything that interests you: town planning, architecture, churches, or culture. It’s a city rich in antiquity and early Christian treasures, and just endlessly fascinating. There’s nowhere else like it
Best ever explained for first time visitor. Congratulations.
@@TheTourGuyVids : Apriciated your prompt reply on my comment. Very professional and Thank for nice videos. I have subscribed your channel. It is fantastic and must see for every visitor to the Rome City, where all roads leads.Gracias
We just used the Roman guy tour and had Tatiana as our guide. She was awesome. We recommend you use this tour guide when your in Rome!!!
Thanks! I'll tell her.
I’m planning to go to Rome this coming oct. for my 65 birthday. Kindly tell me how much you pay for your tour guide so that I can add with my budget. Thank you very much Dave
Buongiorno sono della provincia di Roma , Roma e la città più bella dell'Italia
Do you prefer to visit the Vatican in the morning or afternoon ? I’m not sure because I want to see rome from above from there but I don’t want to stand in the line for hours. But to look above Rome in the afternoon is way more beautiful than in the morning or?
Excellent explanations and very helpful since its my first visit to Rome, Thank you Roman Guy
Prego!!!!
Do you have itineraries if you’ve got a bit longer time?

Hello, We plan to visit Rome in one day on a Sunday. Is it a problem..??? sites closed..???
Depends. Check Google or their websites for updated hours
This is the most helpful video of Rome. Thank you :)
Thank you
Wished I had seen this video prior to my visit. Very well done ! Will have to visit again soon. ❤
Same place where I bought a pizza al taglio at spanish steps station years ago, hope to see Rome again soon.
I only have a day in Rome and I am booking your Vatican tour at 730am. My questions is after getting off the Spagna metro stop are there signs to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain?
Ciao! According to latest updates, metro Spagna will be closed along with most of stops on the Line A from the 14-25 of August. There may be other restrictions to follow. If this doesn't affect your travel dates, then it's super easy to find Spanish Steps after walking out of the main exit of Spagna stop - just turn left and walk less than 100 ft. Trevi Fountain is some 10-12 minutes walk south of Spanish Steps. Hope this helps :)
Love this. I'm planning a day trip from Barcelona! Dying to see Trevi Fountain! And Colosseum
Perfect video!... we're going on a cruise ship in 12 days and only one day to spend in Rome! Did you buy advance tickets to the Vatican, Colosseum or any other attractions???
I'll be staying by the Vatican. How do we get back from the Coliseum?
Very easily by bus, metro, taxi or Uber.
@TheTourGuyVids I liked how you showed a picture of the bus route going to the Spanish steps. A picture of the way back to the Vatican would have been nice.
Thank you.
@@kakaeculbertson564 Check your route on google maps and the app will outline the route for you.
Perfect ! I've watched three other video's and yours is exactly what I was searching for - fun, easy-to-follow with great suggestions. Look forward to researching more with you ! thank you !
How much time does it take to go to top of the Dome?
I would add, after the day tour, to go eat in Trastevere or Monti in a typical trattoria. For pasta lovers I highly suggest la trattoria " antica roma" in via ferruccio, not far from la stazione termini. For gelato lovers dont go to la palma... rather to la gelateria "fata morgana" located both in monti and Trastevere. Im 100% roman and just stopped by since it s fundamental to experience some quality time eating in rome. To eat typical jewish roman food, please go to "gigetto" at the Ghetto neighbourhood near largo argentina.
:)
Do you give tours I’m visiting Italy in October??
We sure do: thetourguy.com/tours
I went to Rome last April 2018 and it gets pretty crowded. Originally I was planning to tour every place on my own but when I saw your videos I decided to try your tours. It was definitely worth the money. I will recommend it to everyone. It will save you time in line and head aches trying to figure out schedules since they all change constantly and they are not always posted on their websites. The tours are very organized and their staff is pretty cool and very nice. They have great customer service and they try to accommodate your needs. (If you come from the US these tours will fit you since we encountered a lot of grumpy Romans, probably is just to much tourism for them).
Cecy Tapia Can u a please help me to contact him. I’m planning to go to Rome with my son, for his 18th Birthday, he’s obsessed with Ancient Rome & Greek stuff. I only have 2 days in Rome and would like to have a guide or tour, not get lost like backpackers.
Love it!!! Really help me prepare my itinerary, thank you so much!
Thank you for nice video .well done
I say skip the Coliseum and visit the nearby Basilica di San Clemente where you can walk down to the ruins of an old Roman street of the 1st century AD
Man I miss Rome!
so everything you showed us is in waling distance once you get off the train? im coming in on a cruise and want to see as much as I can..
Ciao Teresa! Yes, that is correct!
i hope get there on May 2022 and
definitely i will buy this tour however my plan is be there in rome 3 days the second one i will be visiting Firence you think that may it is a good month i mean isn't too hot the weather on may? kind regards
Brilliant video! Grazie mille! 🇮🇹
Hi Sean. My wife and I just binged your Rome videos. Well done. We loved each one.
Gladiators looked like Danny de Vito!! You've made my day!!!
@Carlo That's kinda a letdown if the gladiators look like Danny Devito! The world was hoping and expecting the gladiators to look like Russell Crowe!
Wonderful!
I wonder what will happen to the Pantheon if there is a heavy rain? Just simply ignore? or put a gigantic barrel at the center?
I'm coming toRome next week and found this video really helpful and just wondered if you could advise which is the best tour for the coliseum
Ciao Keith! If you have any quick questions for our travel experts, feel free to reach out at +1 888-290-5595. Enjoy your time in Bella Roma :)
Just book your ticket online on the official site, dont try to buy it from those guys out of the colosseo, they are thieves.
Does someone know if the tours offered here , are entry tickets for the places included ??
Yup. Tickets included.
Thank you so much !! Planning a trip in June 2023 !!!
Ive been Rome 3 times and Ive yet to see it all! Im goung AGAIN in April 2020..So I need you Roman Guy as wanna book a tour guide for myself and grandson..? Can you give me the link? Also best time to go Vatican museum ,is early? What time do the doors open?
We chose a boutique hotel. It was wonderful and brand new. Nobody could tell us how to get back and of course I didn’t write address down . Needless to say we saw all of Rome while looking for our hotel.
Ciao Stanley! Sounds like you had a real adventure in Rome :)
Great video. When was this filmed? Heading there soon
Very good information ,Very halpful & nice filming 1 day Roma yes we really enjoy video..

Glad you enjoyed it Jack, we'll keep posting cool and helpful videos!
Love the video. We will be on the Norwegian Cruise Line in May and looking at different tours to see Rome. Can you provide suggestions on how to get from the port to Rome? Thank you
Love it!!! I want to go Rome. But I have no idea what to first prepare my travel to Rome and your visit give me some route. There place is really different with korea, so i can enjoy its mood. Thank you for detail explanation.
I’m watching this video,as I sit in a hotel in Rome. I’ve been here since Sunday and seen almost all of what you did, but doing it in a day is pushing it,unless you bring some crystal meth with you. 😂👍🏼🇮🇹
Or those shots of Espresso:) Magical city. But you are right - I had two days and still missed out on a lot.
Great video im now on your site looking at booking two tours. But so many tours its confusing me :(

I will have one day/night in Rome before getting on our cruise. Definitely want to tour the Colosseum. What is the best web site to purchase tickets? Would also like to see the Forum. Very helpful video...going to watch your Venice one next. We will have a day there when we get off the ship.

Hi and thanks for the video. About the LARGO ARGENTINA, you talked about the cats in there. I wonder what about the other parts of Rome? Actually My wife and I are coming to Rome for new year holiday 2021 and my wife has cat phobia. Should I be worried about stray cats?
Hi Shawn. Love your videos. We are going to be in rome June 5th. We are a group of four And contemplating hiring a guide because we are only there for one day. We are staying close to the termini station. I seen your video of the one day tour to see Rome. It is the same specific places we want to see. Any other suggestions?
